Yessssssir! First thought I had. So sweet. Literally going down the list of all different versions. In the words of the late, great Rick James: It's a celebration, bitches!!
I can barely listen to anything Ray Charles does without tearing up. There's no one who can pack so much into one song, one phrase even, like he did. And anyone who think Willie Nelson is just a hick singer, just doesn't get it.
Ray and Willie both singing their good nature for that audience. Wish I was there in person ......with you who are reading this, so you can imagine it too. We can be greatful for who ever captured this moment for us.
The importance is they love each other. Don’t compare the style or the strength of these two friends. I know they are happy just to sing with each other. For those that feel otherwise, please think again. I wish I have a moment like this before I die.
just amazing stuff. willie nelson played this two nights ago in atlanta, and ex president jimmy carter played the harmonica during it. it was quite a sight to see.
Too bad willie chose to play for fundraiser for 46. Lost a lot of respect after that. But here in Colorado you can buy his brand of weed products so I guess he paid to play lol
@@tootalltam143If you're bothered by this you don't know Willie at all, asked about it: 'Nelson was unequivocal on his beliefs. “I’ve been supporting Democrats all my life,” he said. When asked if he cared that fans have an issue with his performance at the...fundraiser, Nelson said plainly, “I don’t care.”'
Ray had deep respect for Willies phrasing and singing ability, not to mention his songwriting and unique picking . Coming from Ray, it becomes almost objectively true that Willie rocks.
In the late 70s I served in the US army. I remember a joke going around: "in the 50s you had to be a jew to get a woman, in the 60s you had to be black to get a woman, but in the 70s you had to be a woman to get a woman!" These two singing together reminds me of a time when we tried not to judge a person by the color of their skin (or their genitals). What happened?
Losing my 18 yr old little black yard guard kitty tonight..this is so hard Sleepy is slowly passing to kitty heaven as him & I listen here ❤️ together.
Ray is smiling because he knows he is blessed to be doing what he truly loves.... it is a rare blessing. I would have paid any amount of money to have seen this live. These two do not have the best voices in the world, but they are legends because they love the music... and every song is from the heart, sung with passion. I am truly envious of those who were lucky to see this, and I am thankful for youtube, so I could at least witness it on video.
Both of these immortals have left their signature stamps on "Georgia". Ray's is probably better known, but in my most humble opinion, both versions are essential. Both are incredibly soulful---once either of these singers touched a song, it was NEVER the same. The best evidence of the greatness of both? Both geniuses clearly LOVE the other's interpretation, neither having to compromise their individual style to fit the other's.
For Trumps playlist, que upPhiladelphia Freedom next...God bless the poll workers, and everyone that cast a vote. Let’s cause some good trouble out there! 🙏🇺🇸🙏
Soul to soul! What a blessing seeing two of the best artists so enjoy performing with each other. The expression on Willie’s face when Ray started singing is priceless.
2 of my favorite & fabulously talented gentlemen, singing the official song of the great state of Georgia~ May goodness, their voices are the sweetest thing….Ray made local and state government listen to him, long ago. Now a days, we know he’s long ago honored by his sweet song becoming the official state song! Bless the world for these amazing fellas!
Willie and Ray! It doesn’t get any better! 👍❤️ I cried openly when Ray died. Sad to lose him. Sad I never got to see him live. Sad I never will 👎🏻 Expect I’ll bawl when Willie passes. I did see him perform live while still at his peak. 👍❤️ These men are gifts from God! 👍❤️
Two of the greatest men America has produced. Both do brilliant renditions of Hoagy Carmichael's "Georgia on my Mind." Ray's rendition was accepted as the official state song of the state of Georgia...something you see in the movie "Ray."
Wow two uniquely different but legendary artists making sweet music together. Bet race and music genre didn't matter to either of them. Equally talented. Beautiful!!!!
I seen Ray and the Raylettes in the 'Palais des Festivals' in Cannes in 1986. I was there on a American week in juli and got 1 of the last tickets :) We walked the red carpet to a AMAZINGLY GOOD vocal concert and great piano play. When i came back home the first thing i did was buying his audio cassette. His songs were magic to my ears, also his movements and little jokes. No 1 could sing 'Georgia On My Mind' like Ray did. Sadly this concert was not recorded for audience.
Every Time I see Ray Charles I cant help but put a smile on my face bc Hes always so happy. Ive not once seen him not smiling. You gotta love a guy like Ray Charles.
I was all ready to comment on this... and then wisely read all of the comments, and found that I already HAD. (Too much TH-cam?) Let me simply observe, in addition, that what makes these two so great in interpreting a song is that they never lose sight of the primacy of THE SONG. (Hearing Ray do "Ruby," or Willie do "Once In a While," is like hearing these standards for the first time.) For aspiring singers, in any style: GRADSCHOOL.
Got Georgia on my mind tonight - Thank you, Georgia, for coming through for our nation!👊🏼 I hope this will allow science, compassion, a responsible way for handling the pandemic, climate crisis and so much more - for reservations, food desserts and relationships between all the diversity that is the USA, to get back on track after 4 years of bigotry matched only by willful ignorance. May our nation begin to heal, rebuild and move forward!
Who’s here because Georgia and the election?
Me! Thank you Georgia! 💙💙💙💙

✋ I’ve been listening to it all morning 💙
getting close! 💙
Me. G'day from Vienna, Austria.
I can barely listen to anything Ray Charles does without tearing up. There's no one who can pack so much into one song, one phrase even, like he did. And anyone who think Willie Nelson is just a hick singer, just doesn't get it.
Brother Ray Charles wouldn't play in the state to support for human rights.
Everyone I associate with agrees that both Willie and Mr. Ray are the best. They don't agree... they get their a$$e$ kicked!
Ray and Willie both singing their good nature for that audience. Wish I was there in person ......with you who are reading this, so you can imagine it too.
We can be greatful for who ever captured this moment for us.
Ten years gone and I feel just the same way. Hope you are still rockin'.
My mother's name was Georgia...and every time I hear this song I tear up...Rest in Peace Mom...
I’m so sorry… for your loss. She’ll always be with you 💕

Ray sang a song for Willie at the end of his life, accompanied by Leon. Look it up. Ray was saying goodbye to his friend.
@@scottrackley4457 Nelson is alive and well.. he won’t die
Excellent comment
For a man who was banned from playing in Georgia Ray gave his gift of music to the state. The haters lost that one
He gets his revenge today. ;)
@@paulineprojectlove true. super proud of Georgia right now. #Stacey
From what I understand, the movie wrote that in and in reality he was never actually banned by Georgia.
They always lose in the end.
Thanks again and and your welcome
We Americans, and all people around this world, who love him, were so lucky to have had
THE GREAT RAY CHARLES. ♥️🙏🏻
Played this when spreading my grandma's ashes in the ocean. Cried so much. I miss you and your warm embrace. R.I.P

Point is democrats ain't what they used be. If you endorsed Biden you're a sellout. It's not complicated.
