- Classic Game Room reviews the BABBAGE'S 5 1/4" FLOPPY DISK CASE for all of your old school 5 1/4" floppy disc storage needs. Do you still have games from the 1980's in floppy disk format? Do you have fond memories of stores like Babbage's and Electronics Boutique? Then relive those glory years of PC gaming (IBM PC and Tandy of course, but this will also work for Apple IIe games) with the Babbage's floppy disk storage case for floppies! Did you know that GameStop started out as Babbage's in 1984? This means that GameStop fans should demand that Game Stop bring back the 5 1/4" floppy disk case because it also works for Nintendo DS games, PS1, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast and other CD sized game cases. This video review of the ancient Babbages 5 1/4" floppy disk case nas Babbage's 5 1/4" storage action for old school computer gameplay videogame goodness. Babbage's was named after Charles Babbage, his 5 1/4" floppy disk case was made out of wood and imagination.

That was just so cool. I equally screamed out...in sync, to childhood favorites at Infiltrator and Test Drive 2!
When the camera zoomed out and you opened the cover, I realized that I used to own one!
Haven't watched this in years, still makes me laugh ot loud. :D
Truly one the greates internet review thingis of all time!
Hope you doing great!
I love these random reviews! =)
Keep up the great work!
I love your reviews, Mark. WINNING!
I might still have my case somewhere in the attic :)
Thanks for the memories.
GREAT JOB, i love your costom artwork I LOVE YOUR REVIEWS OVERALL!!!!
this guy can review everithin! awesome work
True PC Gamer in the 80's King's Quest, Space Quest, Larry series. Still love SIERRA games to this day
Really takes me back.
Good times!
Only Mark could make a review of a floppy disk case interesting!
I have to tell you man, that I no longer have those disk or the compatible equipment to use those disks, but I yearn to get the same feeling i got back in the days when I held those disks in my hand, those floppy disks when I think about them they give me a special nostalgic feeling man, which todays technology simple does not provide, those were the Golden days of computer gadgets, i wonder if i will ever feel that way again
Without a doubt, the best 5 1/4" floppy storage box revue ever.
I just watch a review of a case?! and it was awesome!
Yes! I remember!
Bahaha, awesome review.
I can't believe I watched a 7 minute review of a 20 year old floppy disk container and enjoyed every minute of it.
OMG , Mark! Super nostalgia bomb!
You can make even the most mundane product accessories seem awesome. Never have I been amazed by henges before.
You got a great personality at doing these reviews even if its about a piece of plastic sometimes. Keep up the good work!!!
I still remember the days of my dad taking me to Babbages and Electronics Boutique back in the 90s.......ahhhhh, I miss those days!
Mark, you are so awesome! Carry on!
3 1'2 in hold 144 mb of information, you need to upgrade mark. 5 1'4 are ancient move up to 3 1'2 man!
I used to shop at Babbages as a kid @ the mall. I used to get Funcoland catalogs in the mail. Ordered some used Saturn games from it about 15 years ago. Fun times.
Talk about bringing back memories!
It also reminded me of back in the day when you'd have to setup your Autoexec.bat and Config.sys files and either use conventional, or expanded memory. Most of today's users are spoiled and would probably freak if they had to work using command lines. I've always had a real love/hate relationship with Windows!
this is informative from back in the 6o's
It's reviews like this that make me love CGR.
A seven minute review on a piece of plastic designed to store outdated media......Awesome!!!!
LOL I'm trying to picture someone walking around using that as sunglasses! :D
Ha I remember Babbage's! They had a Babbage's and Electronics Boutique in the same mall I used to go too!
Love the german instructions on the backsite of the Sierra protector :D
The mouse drive drawing is awesome.
And I cannot believe there is a 7 minute review on a plastic case for 20+ year old computer games.
Backups kept in the original box, no doubt. The dividers were usually pulled out and discarded to give you more room. There was a certain gravitas in having a game load off a diskette through a 20 pound disk drive. Motors buzzing, lights blinking.
God, I remember Babbages.
Good old stuff.
WOW! Babbage's and 5 1/4" floppy disc, that takes me back!! Long Live CGR!!!
The best part was the mention of Electronics Boutique, alongside the Babbages. Ooh yeah. Our mall had both.
What I was thinking just before watching this video...
"Damn I wish I had some place to store all my 5 and 1/4" flobby disks that I still regularly use..."
This accessory was AMAZING, back in the day.
I swear to God, I could do nothing but watch CGR episodes all day and be perfectly happy with that.
I'm glad he's back but I still miss Derek.
I looked up Babbage's to see if it was really the same company that made gamestop.... It was. I learned something from your review :)
THANKS MARK!
SUPER FUN GAMES for new logo!!!!!!
still have those floppys for my comondore64... the loading time on those games where dreadfull
midnight resistance was awesome
I almost thought that you ran out of ideas when the video started...then I released how interesting you can make a 5-1/4" floppy disk storage device sound. Kudos to you good sir, kudos.
Oh man I probably had that exact thing from Babbage's back in the day...was my main computer software store for ages...
Still has all four rubber feet. Nice!
Babbages, Electronics Boutique, Funco Land, Software Etc... so many memories.
"Note.. that it has not melted"
This actually made me nearly choke on my soda. xD
Im gonna steal the one in the back of my school computer lab because after watching this review i want a place to put all my dreamcast games in.
I remember still using floppy disks to store stuff back in 2003 lol
STUNT DRIVER! That was about the first game that i ever played :) It was awesome back then to create your own courses and stuff!
I remember babbages! And those big old floppy disc.
Oh boy, is this a hint that you'll review Tactics Ogre? I can't wait!
Phreekin hell! This brings more memories than all CGR episodes stuck together with duck-tape. THIS... IS... AWESOME! *foaming mouth*
Wow, I haven't seen one of these in years.
I still have these I love babbages YO!
wow, he makes everything entertaining
I actually used to have this exact case.
I had no idea that Babbage's became Gamestop either. Blowing my mind here.
This almost makes me want to pull out and hook up my old tandy. And yes I am rockin 4 of those babbages cases. lol
Vette, i've play this game for days, every time trying to take a different route to ge to the finish line!
Wow you even managed to sneak Space Harrier in!
Saying Babbage's sounds so awesome!
This awesome dude can review a spec of dust and make it look so epic!
Mark, please continue to review random things in your house! It's great!! =D
OMG The Ad Lib Music Synthesizer Card which can play as many as eleven instrument at the same time! Damn! I can't even do that!
YESSS!! the new logo must appear on the next installment of Classic Game Room!!
it's amazing how something old like that, still looks modern in nowadays standards
mark's handwriting when he was a kid! awesome
My handwriting's gotten worse too n my parents used to have like 3 of thos. I love these videos. He can make anything funny
It will also work great for holding sandwiches and drinks. Though if you're going to use it that way I'd recommend having a dedicated unit for that purpose.
he reviews all angles of any game or other items, and makes them sound really good, even if they suck
i had a zx spectrum all cassette TAPES! thats even more retro! :p
Its like staring into a time machine!
I have about 3 of these (not Babbage's, but similar) filled with Apple II games. Sierra was originally called On-Line Systems, then Sierra On-Line.
Awesome! I totally stole like 5 of those things after I got fired for handing out free discount card punches....ah the memories there...
Babbages. wow that takes me back. Oh and Mark, you absolutely need to use that "SupeR FUN GAMES" logo in future episodes. Why not? Its low budget heaven.
I just love the music that plays in the background. Mark, you should put all the music you made for Classic Game Room onto a disc and sell it online. I could play games with better performance listening to Classic Game Room.
I remember EB games too they were also over here in england :D
hey mark, i remember going to babbage's in the south hills village mall. i'm sure you can remember goin there too.
wasteland is awesomeeeeeeeee, nice mouse art lol
I miss those days of logging into the BBS and d/ling the latest NPD warez!
back in the late 80´s I had some games like F-19!!! in those discs!!!
I had a 8088 pc and 2 mb hard disk!!!!, loved that "calculator" ^_^
@rogums Think about it. What if you ran out of room in your shelf or wherever you put your games. This would seem like a good place to store any extra games you may not have room for anywhere else.
This video is epic lolz X3
this is godlike
Damn, I was only around for the Windows 3.1days....But we had our comp decked out with both a 5 1/4 and 3 1/2 FDDs. The first game we rocked was some motherducking Reader Rabbit!
It's impressive how Mark can talk so easily about something he hadn't used for 20 years, and as though he's been using it all along.
I wasn't even alive that long ago.
It's also impressive that he can talk for nearly 7 minutes about a floppy disk case.
omg i have this!!! i got it with a 1996 pc i bought for 20 dollars last month
SUPER FUN GAMES
''Note that it hasn't melted...'' LOL!
The Great Escape - that the isometric POV version? What a game.
I'd love to see some Apple IIe and Amiga reviews, or any early non-console reviews. Would make a nice addition to the CGR library. Donors please?
I wonder how the sound should fill the room if you are using headphones. That's maybe not healthy at all.
But this thing is great.
please review a fridge, you make anything sound awsome :D
I have a Babbage's Multimedia Video Game Storage Device for Video Games That Aren't Much Larger Than A Five And A Quarter Inch Floppy Disk.
It only stores my mom's old CD collection, however.
You should definitely review sand paper. That would be awesome.
@khorgor Actually a really cool idea... It would be quite easy to make a 5 1/4" floppy micro SD card adaptor, and the reader has to be a replica 5 1/4" drive with the big latch on the front.
@TKGB2006 No, I get you, however I dont know how many games you have. I have quite alot I would say but maybe you have alot more, I like to have them out in their cases on this big book case. Makes me look like an awesome nerd.
A Box full with Old Games is more interesting than a ipad. Thx 4 Up
Electronics Boutique > EB Games > GameStop
I remember back in the day... I swear the experience was that much better, being that much younger, before it got that much more corrupted (greed)
I used a couple of those for my NES games.
Your voice is interesting to listen at
You can talk about everything and I could listen to it
@CloneCoalition21 This is his reviewing style, either you like it or not. Lots of people love it because his reviews aren't as stiff as other ones.
