i definitely had some prior knowledge, i'd heard vocaloid songs before but had been missing out on almost every big classic, which is why i thought this could be a fun way to fill that gap!!! i also knew beforehand a bit of how vocaloid production itself works, tobi is actually also a producer and they've shown me some of the technical aspects of how the software is operated and the voicebanks are put together. (we even collabed in the past, i made a couple videos for their original songs!) i very much agree with you in how variety in tuning makes a difference, and i think it's super interesting to look at it from an artistic perspective, like how a producer might tune things to sound purposefully less "realistic" to fit the intent of a song's concept. i will be listening to more for sure!!! because i liked Fear Garden so much i actually went and dove a bit into ちゃあ 's other work, fell in love with their album グリグリッチ and am currently making a little fan video for its opening track as personal project. sorry for this very long reply but i really liked your comment and am very glad you enjoyed the video!!!
Kokoro is normally written in kanji (心) but for the song, it was written in katakana (ココロ). This gives the connotation of it being a "foreign" word or concept, which applies to the song's themes. It's hard to translate that subtlety, so keeping it in Japanese was probably the translator's best attempt to keep the same feeling.

If you want go listen to some Gackpoid (his name is Gakupo, most of us call him Gakupo) songs / covers of songs that I really like, there's someone on youtube named Lucifer that makes a lot of really good vocaloid covers, including lunacy of duke Venomania but with really really nice tuning, i highly recommend them. (You dont have to of course but if you want to hear some gakupo with really nice tuning here you go)

I'm always amused by people experiencing Vocaloid music for the first time. It's always the same pattern confusion into slight horror then into either amusement or disgust.
Here’s something I learned from vocaloid songs and anime ops: if it is scuffed at the beginning (like when you put your phone or anything under a pillow), it will either be a rock a better version of the scuffed version.
You know you should start quiestioning your friendship when 90% of the classics your friend shows you as his favourites, are the most fucked up vocaloid songs.
