But next October we are getting another Poirot movie as “Murder on the Orient Express” did well enough, so now they’re doing “Death on the Nile”. My mom fucking FLIPPED, especially as it’s one of her favorite storylines. She ADORES Poirot stories, but I think she was afraid that it would be too old of material to find a big enough audience back in 2017. But she does love that the new adaptions are a bit more race blind in their castings. But I used to watch the popular 80s/90s show growing up more than I did kids stuff - as well as “Columbo” and “Murder She Wrote”. My parents were born in the mid to late 1940s but didn’t have me until 1990, so nearly all my childhood movies and shows (minus Disney and a few other exceptions) were Agatha Christie adaptations, and detective shows - just like nearly all my music was Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, etc., and I never heard of David Bowie until I was 12, and never heard of The Rolling Stones (and thought they were America) - heck I didn’t even recognize the name Queen or almost any of their songs even when I was 13. But mom also adores “Clue” (we all do, and is one of my childhood movies, as well as Addams Family - but never saw “The Goonies” until I was 17), and since this movie comes across as a mix of aspects from all those different shows and movies, we knew we had to see it. I did get pissed when I came across a video where they claim Hollywood is making “too woke” of movies, and they wanted this movie to fail because the guy who directed, directed “The Last Jedi”, which they complained was “too woke”. That just seems so stupid to me - like don’t say you want it to flop simply because you didn’t like his Star Wars film, when the two movies are so vastly different from one another in enough ways that comparisons are stupid. And calling people who liked “TLJ” (and other films), because they tried to update characters to mirror changing societal views , etc., “snowflakes”...It’s like, if anyone is a snowflake, it’s fanboys/fangirls who can’t handle any change no matter how small it may be. ArchieL well it’s important to remember that insiders have a different perspective then outsider as in any industry. I am not saying that basing your self on insider is wrong mostly when we all have limited time to do or see things. At time it is good to base ones decision on what we spend time on on what we assume can be good. None the less let’s remember that Swiss army man got walked off at Cannes festival. Yet it was totally original and tackled important topics
@ArchieL Yeah.. they're overall not interested in movies anyways.. With me..i watch all kinds of movies.. critically acclaimed ones..cheesy films..a wide spectrum. Its when i state Chris's views on films that i get teased for being a wannabee..
Fake Name I think he may have forgotten about that cause I swear he did a review on that film. Daniel Craigs role in that film was also fantastic and very scene stealing
Ya know what, this isn’t the first time he did this with Daniel Craig. Check his Casino Royale, he mentioned how good he looked in a tux. No hate whatsoever, I just laughed because I noticed the trend
he pointed out at least one thing that he didn't think helped the movie, which is some throw away characters like the nazi teen and I think Chris didn't like so much the scenes where the characters wasn't on the mansion, based on what he said
Ítalo Lucena Vaz I don’t think you should focus on that aspect of the film so much honestly, the story was much mor important, so I focused more on that honestly.
I saw Knives Out last night and really enjoyed it. I especially liked how the film played with two distinct styles of murder mystery: Ms Marple and Columbo. Very clever. Yep, Rian Johnson is back.
Rian Johnson is a creative guy and a good director. Problem is Star Wars fans already had in their mind where they wanted the story to go and how they thought characters would end up. The sequel trilogy was doomed from the start...in the eyes of StarWars elitists.
I hope it's not comparable... The only thing I'm worried about is that Stuckmann liked TLJ, and everything Rian Johnson, so isn't really the most trusted reviewer for a new Rian Johnson movie. I really liked Brick when I was in high school. Then when I saw Looper was Rian Johnson, I was excited for that as well... which turned out to be a solid 8/10 movie. But there's also that Breaking Bad "Fly" episode, and of course The Last Jedi... so this guy is all over the map. Hoping it's not the pretentious smug mess it looks like in the trailers.
I did not watch his review of TLJ which I didn't watch so I couldn't care less. But based on one commenter here, Chris liked TLJ and seems to be a Rian fan so it won't matter if many hate TLJ because Chris liked it and had no problems with it so it is no wonder he did not bring it up. If he reviewed TLJ negatively, then he could make the comparison and say that TLJ sucked but this one is a whole lot better.
I love the ending scene. (spoilers obviously) In the very beginning we see the coffee mug that has a checklist on it that says something like My House, My coffee, My rules, and then at the end of the movie when we're all wondering if she's going to give them their house back after inheriting it, instead of doing a 5-minute montage or whatever they just cut to a really close close up of her holding a cup of coffee, and the words "My House" on the cup comes into frame as she sips it. It was GENIUS
Given how thorough Chris can be with his critique. The fact that there are only two very minor ones, let's you know this is a good ass movie. Can't wait to see it.

One of the best surprises this year. Daniel Craig's southern accent is weird but boy does it fit so well with his character that it added more mystery to him. Daniel Craig also does a Southern drawl in "Logan Lucky." It's a very good heist-comedy.

I could totally feel the Columbo influence.
Rian Johnson is a creative guy and a good director. Problem is Star Wars fans already had in their mind where they wanted the story to go and how they thought characters would end up. The sequel trilogy was doomed from the start...in the eyes of StarWars elitists.

I hope so! The reviews should go "No! Don't give up yet... This isn't a Star Wars movie! He's got his s#!t together in this one."
@@michaelnewton1754 He also made Ozymandias
I did not watch his review of TLJ which I didn't watch so I couldn't care less. But based on one commenter here, Chris liked TLJ and seems to be a Rian fan so it won't matter if many hate TLJ because Chris liked it and had no problems with it so it is no wonder he did not bring it up. If he reviewed TLJ negatively, then he could make the comparison and say that TLJ sucked but this one is a whole lot better.
