    Just a suggestion about how to keep the mics from getting hit when the lights dim, put a small piece of reflective tape on the joint where the body and the windscreen meet. It has saved many a mic in clubs! And its easily purchased at any office supply!

  • @kristianmarschewski1590
    @kristianmarschewski1590 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    a thing i noticed is that, if the tom gets bigger, and all tom mics have the same position, like all pointing towords the middle of the drumhead, you will loose some tonality, because of the size difference. you kinda hear it, at 09:39, the moment he changed from the 2. rack to the 1. floor tom. I solved that "problem" by getting the mic a little bit closer to the drumhead, or angle it a touch steeper, towords the rim. so the sound gets more coherent.
    and BTW. your stuff sounds amazing

    • @LautenAudio

    So how do these compare to the 308s? I bought 6 just a couple of months ago for drum mics along with the snare mic, and they sound amazing, but I'd be a little bummed if these are better.

    • @LautenAudio
      @LautenAudio  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for being part of the family!! They are very different microphones with totally different technology and sound. Tom Mic is purpose built in every way for toms only. But that doesn’t negate how awesome the 308 are. If you decided to add Tom Mic to your arsenal, you could always move your 308s to bottom toms. Turns out it sounds ridiculous! Go watch The Black Album drum kit video we just uploaded today to hear it.

    Hey cats: becoming a big fan of Lauren mics, I’ve gone for the Snare Mic and the LS-308, both of which are giving gorgeous results. Now looking at Tom mic, which I’m assuming is similar to the LS-308 but in a smaller form-factor?

    • @LautenAudio
      @LautenAudio  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks so much for being part of the family!! Tom Mic is a totally different design from the 308 designed solely for use on toms. It’s going to sound more polished straight out of the box and pairs amazingly with 308 on bottom Tom!

      Snare Mic is similar to the 208, but is not just a smaller version of it. The two are quite different. Tom Mic has no relationship with the 308 and is entirely reimagined in terms of sonics. Hope this helps!

    Bottom micing the toms is a little bit overkill in my opinion. When you hit a drum, the heads will quickly start ‘agreeing’ on a frequency to vibrate in, otherwise you’d hear two distinct pitches when hitting a drum. So I don’t think there’s much merit to the idea that it’d have more low end. At most it will have a less defined attack, because the hit is more spread out by the time the impulse has traveled to the bottom head. But it makes sense that a mic company that just has brought out a tom mic is putting out this idea of bottom micing them lol😜

    • @sully1time

      Lauten is not the first to introduce mic'ing the bottom heads, engineers have been doing this long before this mic came along. 🙃 you know what they say about opinions 😂 lol
