"I really don’t understand law enforcement in this country, they do the dumbest things sometimes." It all makes sense if you remember this one little thing. Police prioritize their own safety, and the safety of their fellow officers above ALL else. The ASP will PIT a seemingly harmless driver after only a few seconds because they don't pose any physical or legal threat to them. The Maryland police won't do anything to a psychopath who's rampaging through the streets in a giant truck destroying civilian property because he could potentially harm or kill a police officer, or the officer's actions while trying to stop said suspect could get them into legal trouble. So instead they just sit back and wait for the guy to stop or get stuck, that way he can't ram into them anymore. Remember, the Police are NOT legally obligated to protect you!

Front facing flashing red on a tow truck? Is that normal over there? In California you can only use amber lights for utility vehicles even city owned. Caltrans can use rear facing blues though
Here in Oklahoma, our city utility trucks tend to have the red white and blue lights like cops. I lived in California for a while and got used to those amber lights, and when we just recently moved back to Oklahoma, I'd forgotten that they had them here and we kept thinking we had to pull over (husband grew up in California and this is first time out of state). It's interesting to me how they seem to differ from state to state.
its a Maryland state recovery and rescue truck. They are state owned and patrol the highway to remove disabled vehicles in accidents to keep the highways flowing. They are considered emergency vehicles thus permitted to have flashing reds. Other states will have similar trucks as well and is becoming more and more common.
Invention - random road stop vehicles. Vehicles with spike strip and road stop capabilities and possibly random vehicle owners that could also volunteer to have their vehicles fitted with road stop capabilities. Including chocking devices that could stop a big truck
Idiot in the newsroom as truck goes off road to avoid police cars: "This is obviously intentional," "The truck is stolen." "We are following what appears to be a police pursuit." "They know where going." (Immediately after the guy ran into a dead end) Brilliant editing! Let's cut to something that happened earlier just as it's coming to an end. Bravo! 🤪 Thanks sherlock! We would have never been able to figure that out if you hadn't told us. 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
I've watched shamefully over 50 car chases and NEVER seen one where a police vehicle got hit like that before. I immediately thought when he made that u turn in the gas station and hit that squad car that he should gps himself to the police station to save himself from getting his 🍑 beat.
That emergency duty truck just let the chain handle down because of these sparks just kept going for a chase and crashes into multiple cars and 1 police cruiser
Those police officers could've stopped the stolen truck towards the beginning of this whole thing, instead of allowing the driver of it to cause all of that damage. I didn't see the police use any spike strips, nor did I see the police use any good strategy to pin it on all four sides. The owners of the non-police autos should be allowed to sue the involved law enforcement agencies for allowing the stolen truck to continue for as long as it did.
Are you dumb that is considered a mini train! How a police car or suv going to stop a heavy duty towing road side assistance truck! They have policies and laws they have to abide with.
That truck was pushing police SUVs out of the way like they were made out of paper. Police weren't blocking him in because they literally couldn't stop him. Their vehicles weren't big enough.
@@JohnDoe-jv8tk If those police officers truly wanted to block him in, then they could've. They could've trapped him on all four sides, and then doubled-up their vehicles on all four sides. It could've worked, but the police seemed to be treating it as a high speed chase, where they would just let the driver go and get him later, which was a major mistake. The police in this case played way too much 'cat with mouse'.
It's not boring enough when you see it in California. Now we need to see this in Maryland. Oh I could see so many accidents now and a lot of fumbling the ball playing around , dragging it out that dumb crap should stay in california , where it belongs. We don't need that nonsense over here and the east coast.
Took cops long enough, geez! All that opportunity esp when he was sitting alone on that road. He'd still be driving hitting more cars if he didn't stop on his own.
Some of these people know Thiers a pursuit, yet don't get out of the way, especially when there's a tow truck twice your size. 7:55. It like they want a reason to get rid of their vehicle, and need a total loss to do it.
A-Police chase is very dangerous for the public, for the suspect, and even for the police itself. B-The suspect is moving slightly at a higher speed before chased, but when police start chasing, the suspect increases its speed to its maximum capacity, so it becomes more dangerous when under pursuit than none at all C-The suspect, when persuaded, violates traffic rules. The same violation of traffic rules is committed by the police when they follow the suspect with the same extreme speed and the same route. During persuit, there is no difference between suspect and police as long as police are following the suspect, I hope you understand my point of view. D-How many cars are destroyed during a chase. Most suspects car is destroyed that usually belonged to his father, mother or somebody else. Public cars are destroyed. Police cars are damaged or destroyed. E-How much fuel is consumed when the suspect is followed by a lot of police cars and two or more helicopters. F-It is a foolish operation when multiple police cars start violating traffic rules and are wasting a lot of public money to get little results. G-Sometimes, the suspect is injured or killed by accident or by police. Even police officers are injured or killed in accidents or by suspect in this operation. H-A lot of public money, manpower, and time is wasted in such dangerous operations. I-Police persuit is not justified if we analyze the outcome of such dangerous operations. J-I have one suggestion that can reduce 50 % pesuit. When the police stop a suspect, they should park their car in front of the suspects car and not behind the suspects car. In most cases, the suspect runs away when police officers are out of their car and walk towards the suspect for checking. At this stage, they run away, expecting a time delay in police action. K-Secondly, I would suggest Grab the culprit without chasing. Do not run after the culprit. Try to arrest in a stationary position. If driving with high speed, let him go. Just note his car number. L-These dangerous operations must be stopped immediately in the interest of public life and property, please.
You would think that after this criminal did all this car bashing, that the cops would blast this guy before he hurts somebody. Looks like the police are failing. Unbelievable.
Question for the people; WHY WHEN COPS HAVE TO BREAK A CAR WINDOW TO GRAB A SUSPECT WHY DO COPS USE BATONS OR STKCKS AND IT TAKES THEM OVER THREE MINUTEW TO BREAK THE GLASS EVEN AFTER 35 HARD HITS WITH A METAL BATON OR STICK . UET WHEN CRIMINALS WANT TO STEAL A CAR OR STEAL WHATEVER IS IN THE CAR THEY HAVE A LITTLE HAND HELD DEVICE WHICH RESEMBLES A PEN LIGHT 🖊. EXCEPT IT HAS A LIL METAL BALL AT THW TIP AND ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PRESS THE BUTTON ON TOP AND ANY car window will break in an instant. It takes 1 second and one press of the button and it shatters the whole window. SO WHY DO C I PS HAVE TO USE BATONS AND STICKS TO TAKE A LONG TIME TO BREAK THE WINDOW WHEN YOUS CAN GET THAT LITTLE DEVICE THAT CRIMINALS USE AND BREAK THE WINDOW IN1 SECOND WHILE OTHER COPS ARE ON THEIR 40TH BANG ON THE WINDOW WIRH HIS BARON . I DON'T KNOW THW NAME OF THE DEVICE BUT AM POSITIVE SOMEONE KNOWS THE NAME OF IT . . .PEACE
Not one of the news anchors seemed to notice. At the end, police used deadly force. You can see the man doubled over in the truck as they prepare to enter and pull him out. Then, once on the ground, police rush and grab a medical bag. The officer distributes some gloves to fellow officers and they render medical aid. That has to mean they shot him. If not, I'd be very surprised.
No, read the article they posted. "The chase happened through multiple jurisdictions. The ordeal ended around 6:30 p.m. in the area of Silver Spring when the vehicle stopped in a wooded area, and officers aggressively smashed the windows with batons and forcefully removed the driver. The suspect was taken to an area hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police."
Flavio Cesar Lanuza, 27, of Laurel,, MD pleaded guilty in September 2024 to charges of second-degree assault on law enforcement, fleeing and eluding police resulting in injury and 11 counts of failure to remain at the scene of a crash. On Thursday, Dec. 12, the Montgomery County [Maryland] State's Attorney's Office announced that Lanuza has been sentenced to 10 years in prison following his guilty plea. Lanuza, an illegal immigrant from Nicaragua, was already sentenced in Prince George’s County on Oct. 23 to two years in prison on crimes related to the chase that occurred there, including the original theft of the highway help truck. Before this incident, Lanuza didn’t have any criminal history in the U.S. or his native country, Nicaragua. Since the February incident, a deportation order has been levied against him.
If this is an emergency response vehicle, might they be listening to police band radio and therefore hearing what the plan is? Also, hitting a police car is Assault with a Deadly Weapon on Police. He's toast!

This guy has the upper hand until law enforcement brings in a heavier vehicle or the suspect makes a driving mistake..
All of the above! Mainly the insurance companies for state, Montgomery and Prince George's Counties, the PEPCO power lines he took out and all of the drivers he hit BEFORE he stole that tow truck. Same in Texas!! State troopers do not mess around. They have no problem shooting out the tires of a fleeing vehicle, or the driver if he's a threat, like this one was.
I’m sure there are regulations and what not but once someone starts purposely hitting vehicles doesn’t it make the vehicle a weapon, resulting in officers using deadly force? Or at least be allowed to shoot out the tires since that truck was too heavy for a pit 🤔

He even stopped for a few minutes and as soon as he started driving again they would be more than justified to use deadly force! Absolutely absurd! It’s ridiculous!
Love ASP videos they don’t care how fast your going they take you out. California oh they can only pit you between 30 and 50.
"I really don’t understand law enforcement in this country, they do the dumbest things sometimes."
It all makes sense if you remember this one little thing.
Newscasters just blindly spewing words to something they don’t understand is annoying.

Here's an update to the story, the suspect was wanted by ICE for being here illegally in Laurel, MD from Nicaragua. He's still in the hospital under police guard as of 24 February 2024. But, he will get his justice after all of this. BTW, if you are here illegally and wanted by Homeland Security, why would you wreck your OWN personal vehicle, steal a state tow truck and lead the multiple police departments in a chase through two counties without a getaway plan?
Flavio Cesar Lanuza, age 27 didn't need to be identified by Maryland State Police if he had mind his business and NOT get into a number of accidents PRIOR to his stealing the MD State tow truck. So there's your latest news from the Greater Washington Area.

It's wild to me, growing up Republican with a Republican father and watching how lenient the Republican-lead Oklahoma laws were growing up in regards to his 12 DUI's and the fact that he brutalized 11 little girls. He's conservative and he even became a trusted inmate and preacher in prison.
Y'all are perfectly fine with Republican states that cater to child harmers and habitual drunks, and only upset when Democrats do the exact same.

The coverage of this police chase was intense and gripping! The video really highlights the dangers law enforcement officers face daily, especially in high-stakes situations like this. It's a stark reminder of how unpredictable and hazardous a stolen vehicle chase can become, putting both police and civilians at risk.
That is why we had 29 hwy blocked

Wait...this isn't happening in Los Angeles or Houston??
If any one of the cops only had some type of firearm (and ammo), they might have been able to stop him.

Maryland police cannot shoot at a driver unless he’s using means other than the vehicle to hurt someone.

Why don't gov owned vehicles have a remote gps kill switch thing.
A special thanks to the person who invited the mute button.
truth
Front facing flashing red on a tow truck? Is that normal over there? In California you can only use amber lights for utility vehicles even city owned. Caltrans can use rear facing blues though
Thats what I was thinking
The laws normally only apply to vehicles driving in traffic. Stopped vehicles engaged in emergency services are exempt.
Other states will have similar trucks as well and is becoming more and more common.
they're chasing Cooter in his tow truck. LOL
Congressman Ben Collin’s?🤣🤣
4:30 Another idiot cop fails to block correctly.
The driver of this stolen tow truck is named Cesar Flavio Lanuza from the South American country of Nicaragua.
I blame the police for a the crashes. Arkansas would have ended it after the first time he rammed the police car.
Don't blame the police; blame the mandated rules of engagement enacted by politicians.

Invention - random road stop vehicles.
Vehicles with spike strip and road stop capabilities and possibly random vehicle owners that could also volunteer to have their vehicles fitted with road stop capabilities. Including chocking devices that could stop a big truck

8:58 ...went all the way to 5 stars.
The police did their best under this dangerous circumstance.
@@regismonkton no they couldn't, this truck is obviously made to get SUVs off the highway as quickly as possible..
It's not boring enough when you see it in California. Now we need to see this in Maryland. Oh I could see so many accidents now and a lot of fumbling the ball playing around , dragging it out that dumb crap should stay in california , where it belongs. Why can't officers break glass more easily? This is just stupid!
Add one year of incarceration for every vehicle hit.
Took cops long enough, geez! All that opportunity esp when he was sitting alone on that road. He'd still be driving hitting more cars if he didn't stop on his own.
The dude's name is Flavio Cesar Lanuza if anyone is wondering.
B-The suspect is moving slightly at a higher speed before chased, but when police start chasing, the suspect increases its speed to its maximum capacity, so it becomes more dangerous when under pursuit than none at all
C-The suspect, when persuaded, violates traffic rules.
K-Secondly, I would suggest
Grab the culprit without chasing. Do not run after the culprit. Try to arrest in a stationary position. If driving with high speed, let him go. Just note his car number.
L-These dangerous operations must be stopped immediately in the interest of public life and property, please.
These cops are incompetent and should be sued.
If they used deadly force? The AG would sue them!
So what happened? I just saw everyone milling about. Did they arrest him, shoot him, did he shoot himself? Did I miss something?

It takes 1 second and one press of the button and it shatters the whole window.
