Peter Noone always was ..and is now and always a brilliant musician, singer ..and comedian, just being himself.
I think they watched a few Beatle Interviews before this , but original too.
Peter Noone Brilliant , Funny , Great Voice.
    Great Musician.
This Was A Great Band Too.
    Wonderful Time.
And Peter Has Kept It Going and Sounds Amazingly Timeless Now.
    Funny, Eclectically Talented , Genuine.
    Brilliant. 🙏🌹🙏

Fascinating interview - notice that Peter fudges the age of Derek "Leck" to 19 (he was actually 22 at the time) to keep the youthful image of the Hermits going.
The Hermits had a big following in the more conservative Midwestern states.

Definitely the best band of the 60s. Such talent and such sweet guys! Love Peter, Barry, Derek, Karl, & Keith!
HERMAN's HERMITS was such a clever name for a band.
That lady interviewer is kind of a ding-a-ling!

This is like Ian Anderson being addressed as "Jethro" and not correcting the interviewer. :) Great vid!

Derek "Lek" Leckenby (far right w/glasses) sounds eerily like Noel Gallagher. Like Oasis the Hermits were from Manchester.

The sixth word of that first sentence was supposed to have read "off," not "of." I won't abide bad grammar or typos if I may help such. But I also didn't want to have to delete the posted comments entirely, and repost all the comments following it.

5:25 "I beg your pardon". The female reporter was not accustomed to hearing that Northern British English accent.

So it was up to the Hermits and The Monkees to hold that middle ground of rock & roll, retaining the pop appeal of the earlier British Invasion. That's what the primary demographic of the pop record-buying public (10-14 year-old girls, and boys too, to a lesser extent) wanted.

Since you have videos of The Beach Boys and Herman's Hermits, do you have anything about The Animals?

*No one wanted to admit they liked the 'Hermits' when I was a kid, at least not to each other*
    (Not 'cool' enough)
*The same applied to the 'Cowsills'*

  • @gymnastix
    @gymnastix 11 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Yeah, Herman's Hermits were brighter and more upbeat than The Rolling Stones and The Who (or even than The Animals and The Yardbirds), which had more decadent reputations and a raw rhythm & blues sound. So I get it that would have flown better in the Midwest.

That straight laced women and dumb blond as two prior people commented on is very smart. She is Ida B. She went on to have her own T. V. show in the 60's so study up before making rude judgements please.

Actually The Beatles started of cheery and upbeat. But John Lennon's statements about religion (and later politics), coupled with George Harrison's diversions into Eastern mysticism would also have alienated Middle American values.
