The full NBC Sports broadcast of the January 31, 1982 Big East battle between the St. John's Redmen and the Georgetown Hoyas from Capital Centre in Landover, MD. Also includes halftime announcement of high school star Billy Thompson's college selection. Dick Enberg and Al McGuire were on the call.

This was such a cool time for us kids in the northeast. Just a few years earlier this type of game would’ve featured Kentucky, Indiana, Carolina, Notre Dame or UCLA. To see the Big East begin to get Saturday or Sunday NBC games was very exciting🏀

Wow. Patrick Ewing as a freshman. He was quite a player . Went on to be a super star in college basketball and then also the NBA.

I think some stations had the Wake Forest vs Arkansas game with Bob Costas and Lynn Shackelford instead of this game. I see that WYFF in Greeneville had the Wake Forest game. Maybe ACC and SWC areas and maybe Midwestern areas had that game

The marching band version of "Don't Turn Away" opened the telecast, then the Georgetown band played a rendition closer to the original, then cabbies singing along to opera with Bob Hope getting in. I recall the Texaco opera broadcasts were carried on a number of AM stations at the time.
