That's the only time I heard it used during the entire convention. I wanted a shot of it passing the iconic interlocking tower and depot at Davis. The whistle, a CB&Q original from an M4 class 2-10-4, was a happy bonus. Those Burlington whistles could wake the dead. Both loud and eerie sounding.
th-cam.com/video/1GizvHEFoJg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HPLDgdsl4AoqYQUd Please refer to this video, you should be able to see SP 4449 playing 5 chime whistle at around 9:18.
Kahless02, the higher-pitched whistle 4449 wore was a 5-chime off of a CB&Q M-4 Class 2-10-4. It was put on the engine for the convention by the late Skip Gage from Florida.
That closing JLS night scene just made my day... no in fact my week! AWESOME dramatic street-running night videography... the echoing sound resonating down Embarcadero Street gave me chills...
I beg to differ. (I used the translator btw) Also, did your mom ever tell you not to copy and paste these same comments on every video? It’s getting pretty annoying. Edit 2024: No, scratch that, it’s EXCRUCIATING!!!
GREAT footage! LOVE the whistles, and the deeper one really sounds great! Super night footage, too -- glad you were able to be there and document this wonderful trip for those of us who couldn't be there.
@espeeboy Thank you for your kind comments. I agree, that was an awesome scene. That old Sony V701 Hi8 Camcorder had outstanding low-light capability, something that my present day Canon XL2 sorely lacks.
What is the name of the two yellow passenger cars I think that's not a up passenger car and the other one that makes a noise the white passenger car after the two santa fe passenger car
The whistle in the shot at Davis was from a CB&Q M4 Class 2-10-4. I know, because I spoke to Doyle McCormack about it. It was owned by a guy from Florida named Skip Gage. He passed away in 2005. So, No Soup For You. Kahless02 was closer,
Absolutely beautiful video of 4449! However, I don't like it's second whistle, for two reasons. 1) It just doesn't sound good (in my opinion), and 2) it doesn't sound like it should be on a Northern-class steam locomotive. Other than that, excellent footage.
2:24 The Best Whistle
It’s 2:31 actually.
@@T128Productions Oh

I wonder if there are other videos out there that have the same whistle at 2:31.
Probably not. Not everyone that recorded 4449’s part in the convention were at that place.

@@yankinga Yeah I kinda figured that out, but that whistle sounded incredible! Not as good as the 6 chime she had previously but still.

I believe this whistle was recorded by the late Brad Miller for the Sound Recording album, 4449 Pinnacle!, way back in '92.
That same whistle can also be heard here: th-cam.com/video/gqxX0Sca7rs/w-d-xo.html

@razgrizaceblaze259 I wonder if it's the same whistle that they borrowed off of the CB&Q O-5 Class 4-8-4?
No, it’s actually from an M4 class.
