Let it be known that I knew of MØZ before I had heard of The Smiths, it started as this song on the radio, W-MARS in Schenachtedy, New York, right near the Staten Island Ferry! Oh, what wonderful times we had!
Almost a Smiths reunion! Morrissey was still at the peak of inspiration right after the breakup of the Smiths and this is one of my all time fave Moz tunes. Morrissey is energized by a great backing band. I love the synthesizer swoops and swirls. It picks up where the experimental nature of Strangeways left off.
Strangeways was my favorite album too. And this definitely my favorite Morrissey song so far. Still kinda diving into the first few albums. This is crazy groovy I didn't think he could do something like this without Marr.
This song surely has to be one of the best examples of Morrissey's un-parallelled ability to write good, thought-provoking lyrics. He is truly a British jewel we should all be proud of.........

we have so many amazing, creative artist in the uk, morrissey is someone you should never, ever forget, because its impossible, try as you might, you know he is undeniable, creative and has experience so much to be where he is in the universe on musical gods.
This song...reconfigures time for me...I'm young again, and there is still so much hope.... Morrissey's music feels like the glittering ocean rushing up, washing over me, claiming the parts of my soul that needed his words, his songs, to understand and to feel what ached to be expressed...
Genius, clever and everything about The Smiths and Morrisey was class. Music which reflected that era, accurately and with meaning. Pity that today we never see the likes of this artistic quality in lyrics, and we will, possibly, never see it again.

I had tickets to see Morrissey when he toured Australia in the early 1990's. He did the Brisbane show then cancelled the rest of the Australian concerts, claiming he had sinusitis. I still reckon to this day he chucked a collossal tanti about something and flounced off home. Bona Drag is still one of my all time favourite albums. There's not a bad song on it.
Oh yeah I remember that in '91. Triple J announced the cancellation, Morrissey flew out of the country and everyone who had tix went off the rails for the next week. It was a huge talking point particularly for Sydneysiders who were just about to see him. He returned in 2002 to play 'Livid' in Sydney, skulked on stage w everybody going manic in the crowd and into the microphone he slurred "Hellooo therrrre, Syd ...."

I had tickets to see Morrissey when he toured Australia in the early 1990's. He did the Brisbane show then cancelled the rest of the Australian concerts, claiming he had sinusitis. I still reckon to this day he chucked a collossal tanti about something and flounced off home. Bona Drag is still one of my all time favourite albums. There's not a bad song on it.
Oh yeah I remember that in '91. Triple J announced the cancellation, Morrissey flew out of the country and everyone who had tix went off the rails for the next week. It was a huge talking point particularly for Sydneysiders who were just about to see him. He returned in 2002 to play 'Livid' in Sydney, skulked on stage w everybody going manic in the crowd and into the microphone he slurred "Hellooo therrrre, Syd ...."
Been to Australia and got family in Australia I found and the Aussies to be very ignorance as I was from England no one the most f***** off and left the Australian tour,
I had second-row tickets for the Smiths at Sunrise Musical Theatre (near Ft. Lauderdale, FL), in '86-'87, and the band canceled on the day of the show because Moz had "strep throat." Nobody believed it...

I had that Hairstyle during High School. I wish I still did! I remember seeing him at the infamous Bills' Records and Tapes in Dallas and my brother getting his autograph at an opening for a BlockBuster Music store in Plano Texas! I was just 15 and it was some great times!
That was Sound Warehouse not Blockbuster. I was there. Was he at Bill's for a signing or just there shopping?
@@wavelengthrecords-1 It was Sound Warehouse but it was purchased by Blockbuster at the time. I think they changed the name shortly after. He did a visit to Bill's during his first concert in Dallas and didn't stay for long. Signed a few autographs, waved to fans and left.
