- In air traffic control, there are aircraft and positions that are considerated more important. Which aircraft has priority over other aircraft? Check out this video.

You also have to consider the different classifications of airspace around airfields and such. So a small propeller aircraft cant just linger into an international airport and expect priority for landing. They will usually be showed away to a smaller regional airport with a less classified airspace - Specially if there is not a designated private apron on the airfield. (I refer to class B, C and D airspaces. and such). There is also airspaces that are closed to aircrafts that are not of an certain type - Like military training areas.
The first come first serve is a good principle but is there not factors taken into account such as slot times and flight plans meaning that certain aircraft could be sloted for certain take of and landing time through the slot system and thus have priorty long before they reach the ATC? Much of the movement around an airport is planned with scheduales and stuff so the ATC has a good idea on where and when aircrafts wants to take of and land long before theyre enter the airspace.
Also I like to give military aircraft on defence mission a higher priority than number 6 on the list. Afterall a VIP or head of state can usually wait for a air defence fighter to be enroute to a border intrusion mission.
To ad to that the VIP is also much broather than the head of states and its aircrafts given the whole range of gouvernment and civilian VIP that is flying around. While I agree that the airforce one is usually getting the sorounding airspace around the airport closed for a good while when landing or taking of that same cant be said about a Hollywood actor flying into the regional airport for work.

Mabe with the japenese coastguard plane and Japanese passenger plane maybe even though thed been to ld to hold short of Charlie 5 they maybe thought were on emergency relief work we have priority yesterday they did but the passenger plane was on final literally fifty feet or so off landing and planes coming in to land have priority it sounds as though it was a self importance belief that killed them
I thought the airplane gets priority before the helicopter?
In Canada, helicopters have the lowest priority of all, since they are the most manœuvrables. Not sure about FAA rules.
