They did, he became a head of African union some time ago. he pushed a couple initiatives but obviously African leaders where very slow with them. like Easy of trade and free movemnt between african countries. etc... now that going from the top seems inefficient. rwanda has decided to create easy of trade and free visa with a bunch of countries. if the model works then every one else will follow.

Africa has all that it takes to literally walk away from the West and organize all 56+ nations into a comprehensive federation of independent African states! Africa has the people, the land, the resources, the determination, the spirit and the potential partners such as Russia, China, india, South America and other nations around the world. Not to mention that African Union and African National Congress could organize this massive continent into a viable networked world power to say the least. Key world groups such as B.R.I.C.S., Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (A.I.I.B.) and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (S.C.O.) Let's not forget China's Belt and Road Initiative (B.R.I.) and Russia's Eurasian Economic Union (E.E.U.) could be a real alternative to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (I.M.F.) Africa and many other regions in this world have much more hope than the World Economic Forum would ever admit.
You are not hearing what Kagame is saying. Africa does not need to be a United States of Africa to become great. Africa needs to fix itself country by country before it can even think of uniting as one country.
Rwanda itself came from ashes to this little diamond it has become because the leadership had a clear vision and a clear mission of how to achieve that vision. Most of other African leaders are clowning around and stealing.
Kagame said we don't want to blame former colonisers about our woes of today, we want to look forward and fix our problems ourselves. The rest of the African leaders are still pointing fingers at former colonisers 60 years after gaining independence. Until African leaders become as serious as Kagame within their own countries, forget USAfrica.
Ruto of Kenya is talking USAfrica... He'd do well focusing on Kenya first before uniting Africa.
They should have supported Libya when it was attacked and destroyed by NATO.

I think expecting any kind of united African confederation is over ambitious at this time. Africa has leaders who would do anything to stay in power. Realistically, if we can find few leaders who successfully rebel out of the western chain and still maintain democratic change of power, hopefully other nations in Africa start demanding similar democratic change of power and then accountability to the democratic system world leave them no option than serving the people that elected them. For example Kenya, despite all the corruption has at least has been able to slowly build democratic change of government.
Hoping the majority of the leadership that steals from loan they receive from the west and take it to the west to build a mansion is hoping for a rainy season in the Sahara Desert.

Additionally the headline is deceptive, paraphrasing to "The USA Disrespecting Africa " . (1 continent) of 54 countries with 30% of the world's high quality resources, 2.2 billion people. (6 continents) 6.6 billion people with 70% of the world's high quality resources. Majority of the cash and other top quality resources are amongst the 70%. The only nuclear weapons that was in South Africa under the apartheid system have been removed since blacks are managing. I have so much respect for Paul kagame and all he did for his country. Love his courage and his attitude to governance and intelligence etc, the question is , why do you think you alone is the most qualified person to rule Rwanda till death?
How God destines leaders indeed! This Kagame man is a strategic icon in African affairs within Africa. Given a chance to lead the continent of Africa, this awesome leader of international repute can make an automatic turnaround over short term, no doubt. I love Paul Kagame as a president, assertive leader with incredible leadership skills and fearless protector of values that he isn't ready to compromise for less. Whereas majority of other African presidents are greedy, selfish and gullible Kagame chose integrity and service to his people
Africa needs to stop the ethnic and tribal wars and come together to fix Africa. Stop fleeing and fight for your land.
