it was some years into AA being a sponsor i realized what my sponsor accomplished in me establishing sobriety was the basis of Stoicism....i could not grasp spirituality mainly because i did not have an opinion of God...but anchoring myself in a life of integrity whereby i developed virtuous habits i could change my life....DBT proves to be an intelligent path to a life worthy of living...28 years of sobriety has proven that seeing the scales balanced was worth every effort to balance the scales....

So many struggle day to day to afford basic necessities that inside information to increase tools and awareness can only help to better our society or at the very least provide hope that supports are out there. Trying times from pandemic to crisis emotionally and financially. @@DocSnipes I really like how you broke down the whole concept of DBT. I found it very re-enforcing. I love the fact you refer to the book and also behaviourism and the emphasis on what the addictions/cutting/hurting/unhelpful behaviour is gaining for the client. There is so much of value in here. I adore the concept of thoughts not being acted on, I find people are often astonished by that idea. I’m going to watch it again. I’ve taken pages worth of notes too. 📝 🗒️ 📝

The thing is... if you're doing DBT properly it is not simple and if it feels simple - you're not doing DBT effectively. That's unfortunately just the facts of the matter. There's no short cut to reading Cognitive Behavioral Treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder (1993 Guilford Press) repeatedly, getting intensive training with reputable people, and having an experienced DBT supervisor watch and rate your sessions.
