The song in Russian actually doesn't have the word "future" in it, although it is implied by the context. Далёко means a place far away. But after so many years the things have changed, and that wondrous "place far away" is actually feels more like a distant past, a nostalgic place, that soviet union is for many people, even those who never lived in it
Even as an American I kinda miss what we had with the USSR and vice versa. It gave good competition for the development of technology and really helped humanity go farther than ever before in such a small time.

That’s communism basically. But that won’t happen just because of how humans are built. They have greed, pride and lust for power and you can’t do anything about it. It would be an Utopia.
I may not be a fan of communism or the Soviet Union, and I am also a proud citizen of the US, but I love this song no matter what, it has no mention of communism, and to me represents a free society. Every nation, capitalist or communist, has done bad things in the past (granted in some cases they are unforgivable), but they share one thing in common: its made up of people. We’re all human. Communism is being misunderstood quite of often. TRUE Communism is an Utopia which will never become achievable. It’s when every person is working hard giving themselves out for the prosperity of all people United. Soviet Union showed why it’s not possible. Even if common folk really basically was programmed to work not for themselves but for the country, there still were corrupted people in the higher ranks because that’s just how human mind works. (Those people became the downfall of the USSR btw)
This song is emotional because it shows what Russian/Soviet people felt back then. They had the most hard and heartbreaking history out of all nations, they’ve literally seen the sh1t which you could only imagine in movies. While others love to romanticise knights and medieval periods, Russians associate such periods with death and despair.
