    Hi! Beautiful videos about my city! in the pizza con la porchetta there are no zucchini but "puntarelle", a salad that comes from chicory, is traditional in central southern Italy. you can only find it during winter, i love it so much!

      I see, thanks for correcting! We did end up having a chicory salad a few days later and it was really delicious! Rome is such a wonderful place indeed and we can't wait to go back 😊😊

      Also I think the reason the pizza is so good is because the food quality in Italy is that much higher. They have loads of rules in food production and lots of traditions that keep the quality high. Thats why Italian food is never as good overseas because its not using the same produce.

      Thank you so much!! And yes have to agree with you there. Especially here in NZ, it's quite hard to find real traditional Italian food. Luckily there is one Neapolitan pizzeria here in Auckland verified to use authentic Italian ingredients but most places usually put their own Kiwi spin on things 😊

      It's ok in the Uk, like their are plenty of places offering it but I don't know theres something about having it on the streets of Rome. Thank you for transporting me.

      @@edwardvaughan8821 Yes that's so true! No matter how authentic something is, it still won't match the experience of having it in Rome!! Glad you enjoyed the video :))

    The pizza is actually good for you and healthy. Italians live long healthy lives, much longer than the rest of the world, and its because of the food, real Italian food is very good for you, its a gem of humanity. I feel sad that in America, Italian food is not healthy at all, they turn it into junk food. Like they do with all food, should be illegal

    • @locavore_eats
      @locavore_eats  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ikr!! I grew up with the more Americanized versions of Italian food so I was afraid that all this pasta and pizza would make my belly explode 😆 Real Italian cuisine is so wholesome and beautiful!!

      @@locavore_eats it's true, Italy is in a 'blue zone'. Blue zones around the world are zones where a lot of people reach 100 years or higher. Japan is also in a blue zone, its because they use high quality fresh ingredients that are not going through factories and whatnot, so all the pasta and pizza is not unhealthy like most people think

    When you're talking about the 'crust' , you mean the dough, right? The crispy light airy dough.. Yeah, I've been to bonci, very high quality pizza, but you don't need to make a pilgrimage lol, they have these type of pizza on the slice everywhere around Rome with the same crispy airy dough, you can find many shops with similar style pizza

    • @locavore_eats
      @locavore_eats  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We did have other Roman pizzas (some that we didn't vlog) but we did like Bonci the best! I think it's also the wide selection of flavours that we loved! But agreed there are so many high quality pizzerias around Rome!

      @@locavore_eats another great one in Rome is pizzeria pratolina, its a sit down place, not a pizza al taglio (slice) like bonci, they have incredible pizza as well, it's best to make a reservation there.
