  • Josef Prusa took us behind the scenes on a tour of their factory in June, 2019 just before Prague Maker Faire. The tour was FANTASTIC and it was amazing to see how much care is put into each aspect of what Prusa and his team offer!

    Hey, thanks for this incredible video. Im a Quality Engineer and Im really impressed with all the quality controls and automated procedures implemented in the factory to be accurate and protect customer from production mistakes. But the must important is definitely the tracking and whole producing traceability that creates all necessary capability to take corrective actions and improve the customer satisfaction. This is really awesome! Im sure my next 3D printing will be a Prusa model. I really regret that I have just bought a model from other company. Thank you so much for sharing!

    The PRUSA"S are nice little printers, and can perform excellent print quality.
    Thank you Josef and 3d printer NERD DUDE for this wonderful video!!!
    Fact: don't buy a kit unless you know a little about hardware, software and electronic's! UNLESS YOU LIKE PAIN!!! THEN GO FOR IT!!!
    Save yourself a lot of time and frustration and tears and buy the pre-assembled model if you can, you will thank me later!!!
    Why do I say this,
    I have a small 3d printer store and print farm........ about 3 to 5 times a week I get a call from kit owners or customers in my store and they are crying(real tears) because they can't get a good print from there kit.
    Most calls are from the younger crowd and there crying about how they saved there money for a long time to but a 3d printer and now they have a paper weight!!!........I hate it when that happens!!!

    Another fantastic look at what goes into each Prusa printer. I am so happy that I bought the MK3S kit from Prusa. It has been a printing workhorse with minimal maintenance required. I am a total 3D printing newbie, but I have learned so much from this channel and Prusa's videos. I have gone through a few spools of PETG and PLA now with only a few issues (mostly caused by me). I loved the 100K printer anniversary documentary.

      Mine has been absolutely fantastic, I have no regrets about it at all. You won’t be able to truly appreciate just how good this printer is until you start reading forum posts about print settings for a certain material and then realize that a lot of the problems other people have just don’t apply to you because you have a better printer. What’s even better is that the i3 MK3 is extremely upgradable, so if you’re like me and enjoy pushing the limits of how fast, big, or precise you can print, the sky is basically the limit.

    This factory tour and interview with Josef is what convinced me to spend more for a Prusa i3 MK3S+ over other brand printers 8 months ago. That choice has proven to be a wise one. My printer runs over 30 hours a week and with only the suggested regular maintenance has been 100% reliable, not one hiccup or problem. Thank you @Prusa 3D by Josef Prusa and everyone who works with you for your dedication to quality and your customers.

    Man the Prusa operation is impressive. I'd love to have someone ask them why they still have this giant print farm to create the components for their printer. At their scale, it would seem to be better to injection mold these components. I'm sure they have a good answer to that, I just wish the interviewers would ask that question.

    • @3DPrintingNerd
      @3DPrintingNerd  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From what I gather, they aren’t at a level of production where injection molding would be financially better. They makes lots of parts, but not 10s of thousands. Plus, their STL files change and are updated more frequently than would be feasible with molds.

    • @mylesdb
      @mylesdb ปีที่แล้ว

      When they can run hundreds of printers in real-world application, they can quickly catch problems and iteratively improve on the design of their printers in a continual feedback loop to improve their product. Very smart approach.

    I have had my Original Prusa i3 MK2 for quite a long time now (December 2016) and I am super happy with it - very few print failures, lots and lots of happy print success. I might get the upgrade kit to turn it into a MK2.5S at some point, but the results I still get out of the stock machine are SO good that I have not felt the need to do it yet. But for that nicer removable print bed and better extruder setup it is probably a worthwhile upgrade.
    It makes me super happy to see the company continue to succeed and thrive without cutting corners on quality or on their general "being nice" skills.

    I thought of personally picking up my new MK3S printer. But don’t know it it’s possible. What an amazing production plant! The community lab they have is really incredible! That is like heaven on earth. I really wish we would have something like that where I live. I really love that they are willing to give back so much to the community

    To me, it's SOO COOL to see all the custom 3D printed parts around the whole facility, especially the Test Lab!!!!! He saved a bundle not having to pay someone to injection mold those custom parts!
    This video makes me want to move and work there! :)

    I love the fact that they are running a farm it's probably not the most efficient (injection molding is faster and cheaper and they have the volume for it ) but the r&d benefits must be insane

    Despite his success Josef Prusa is still grounded and focuses on innovation and supporting new ideas with the Lab. That's really great and another reason for buying my new printer from Prusa! Props to you, mate!
