Isn’t there heat loss into the floor? Is there a way to reduce heat loss with this method ? Thanks

Floor slabs against the ground are usually frost-free, so the heat loss is approximately 10%. For storeys facing unheated rooms, the ceilings may need to be insulated to prevent excessive heat loss.

What are those black sleeves where the pipework enters the manifold?

The black "sleeves" are pipe deflectors for the heating pipe in the distribution area. They guarantee compliance with the bending radius.

New Zealand homes are known for their lack of heating. We had underfloor heating in a previous home and found it to be absolutely brilliant.
I'd love to see this system in NZ but unfortunately there is no-one offering a service that cuts established concrete pads like the Empur system appears to do. There are systems in NZ that will lay on top of a pad but that comes with a rise in sill height. I'd like to see a video of the screed going down over the top of this installation.
There's a business opportunity here for someone!

After milling, the channels are provided with a levelling compound or flexible adhesive, depending on the planned floor covering. No new screed is required. The manufacturer's instructions must be observed for the floor covering (suitable for underfloor heating).
The rooms heat up quickly due to the small pipe overlap.
