We just bought 28 acres in 2020 and built a home. The hardest things we didn’t expect were the price to build every building to house our animals. Fencing, and building every piece from scratch has been a huge undertaking. I would encourage you as you’re building your home to think of electric and water where you will have your animals so you don’t have to retrench while they’re already there.
Also, the expense to bring out electric, water, cement etc on land we didn’t prepare for! We had a 900ft driveway so 😅
Some days we wish we had just bought an established farm, but also we get to design it exactly how we want! Enjoy!!

Congratulations! My hubby and I moved from / fled CA, SF East Bay area to the outskirts of Nashville. We finally have land, space, and quiet! We live across the street from horses and donkeys and we absolutely love it. We came from the city, to the country & we're loving it! You couldn't pay me to move back to a city.

Congrats! My husband and I just did the same thing in Nashville. We built a house, sold it, then moved down south of Nashville near Arrington Vineyards and bought 20 acres. It is soo peaceful! You guys are going to love it!

I am sooo excited for this!! Side note: when you mentioned a ‘farm in PA’ in the last video, my mind went crazy. I live on farmland in PA and my nearest neighbor passed away and his family sold the home and farm and I heard a young couple had bought it and started fixing it up to live in. I was on a mission trying to find out who it was because I thought it could have been you guys 😂 dreams crushed but I’m still so pumped to be along for this adventure. This is so heartwarming.

Cool can't wait to learn so much from your journey. We have a huge home but recently bought 5 acres about 30 minutes in the Sequoia national Forest that has different build sites on it but oh my gosh it seems overwhelming and costly can't wait to watch you guys and learn some things along the way. I'm still in the beginning stages of drilling for water and septic.
We live on 100 acres and it’s the BEST life for kids. Living slow is the best ❤ so excited for you guys!!

Julia and Hunter, I have a farm and walnut orchard. I left a comment before about selection of animals and to know your care, but also, my husband said “ they are going to need a tractor and the best one you can afford and equipped to do digging, mowing, raking, scooping- everything. “ Just advice from old farm hands - love and success to you.
