  • Howdy! This is Daniel with Roslyn Rags. In this video I use a 100% cotton shirt to fold this design. I use procion mx fiber reactive dyes to color the pattern onto the shirt. The shirt has been soaked in soda ash solution of 1 cup sodium carbonate to 1 US gallon of water.
    Thanks for watching. Have fun dyeing!

    OMG that was stunning. I loved the way you pleated the bottom part and added the bands. Then the top had a lovely form of a flower which you also secured with bands. The results are truly AMAZING PHENOMENAL. Love the negative part of the top. Fabulous. You are truly gifted with imagination. Thanks for sharing and caring. 👍👍👍

      I made 10 kids T Shirts using all your stunning techniques and had stunning results too. My daughter in law and my son had each 7 sweat shirts and 7 tee shirts for Christmas. The only problem I had was the fading after machine washing.
      Thanks for these super techniques. Hugs👍👍👍💕

    Love this video! Having trouble with the crinkle part though. My shirt is thin, so it doesn't want to stay in a Frisbee shape, and instead balls up. Any advice?

    • @RoslynRags
      @RoslynRags  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jlor Taylor when it bunches up, it is being bound too tight, or the horizontal and vertical proportions are not in an even ratio. I hope that helps. Thanks for the comment!

      I try to be quick transferring the items into the dryer. That is one reason I do the shirts inside out.

    Did you leave the rubber bands when you washed it?

    • @RoslynRags
      @RoslynRags  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      KenneDIY ☮ Only for the first round. The first wash removes a lot of excess dye.

    Would I follow the same steps to do this with a long sleeve shirt??

    • @RoslynRags
      @RoslynRags  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Alex Sciacqua Yes, try to keep the sleeves up near the neck line, or you could incorporate the bottom of the sleeve with the red and white stripes.

    how do you keep the colors from bleeding onto the white

    • @RoslynRags

      gravity, dye thickener, and trying not to let the undyed part touch the dye.

    Does this pattern work well without the sodium Alginate thickener? Or does it bleed too much?

    • @RoslynRags
      @RoslynRags  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      depends on how wet the shirt is, probably some other factors as well.
