    Get a sealable container as close to the size tire you are wanting to demount. Insert tire in container and fill container with Acetone until entire tire is covered. Let sit 24 hours and the tire will fall off the rim allowing you to reuse the rim and tire… sometimes even the insert is reusable after it dries out, but the foam insert will not be as firm as it was. Note: if the tire wants to float in the container of Acetone, weight it down so the tire stays covered.
    Works ever time!
    Love all the custom stuff you are doing with this bike!

      Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but I’ve tried this a couple of times in the past with tamiya wheels/tires and completely melted the wheels before the glue bond would give-up. I’ve done both full immersion and suspended above a bath so you just acetone vapors. With the bath the wheel completely dissolved. I know that it depends on the materials of the wheels (Tamiya uses ABS) but because of my bad experience and lack of spares I would be hesitant to try again.
      Thank you for watching!

    • @Deathdezine
      @Deathdezine ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah thoses rims will melt before the tires come unglued. The plastic they use is not the same as our “race” wheels for 1/10 and 1/8 buggys and is not solvent resistant.

    Nice work 👍the proper way to take tire off without destroying tire is put it in a small sealed container with acetone but dont let acetone contact tire leave in for a few days the fumes will loosen glue and not hurt tire if the tire sits in the liquid it will ruin it let the fumes do the work 👍

      I have tried multiple methods including the one you just described and have only ever destroyed wheels. In this case I was trying to remove tires from Tamiya wheels (ABS) I know Acetone is a solvent for ABS so I didn't have high hopes going in. However, given my bad experiences, I am hesitant to try this out on a wheel that I don't have a spare for at the moment. When I get a spare wheel, I will give it a try.

    I am not sure if I could put the longer arm on, I love the wheelies way too much! It would be cool if you could mount the camera in the torso and it still resemble the driver but protect the camera some more. Sadly those rolling tumbles it does sometimes really face plants the gopro into the ground rather hard! It looks like it still ran very well. Those pesky tree always jumping out in front is a pain though!
    Cool stuff and I am sure you are having a blast over there tinkering away! Have fun with it!!

      @jack-o-trades  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I guess I need a second bike for wheelies. LOL. Actually the bike is so easy to work on I bet I could swap it between the two setups in 5 minutes.
      LOL, it is funny how those immobile object seem to pop out of nowhere and get you. I think it's indicative of my driving with the throttle pegged on the straightaway and completely overshooting the hairpin turn at the end.
      Yeah the camera is moving. I need to design a new mount the uses the torso pin to keep it in place. I have tried Velcro straps but the camera usually tumbles away when the bike decides to do some random front rolls.

    I put a soft rubber over my 3D-printed bearing-supported rollers for onroad use. It is super quiet on the street without that scraping sound. Once I get the super Moto wheels it will be ready to race onroad 1/5 scale car track with jumps. They are already racing other bikes. I used rubber dip for making player handle grips on the rollers if you want to try them. You just dip them let them dry then dip them 4 or more times to get a soft rubber. Dip without the bearing. I made the mistake of leaving the bearing on accident the first time, lol. The Brand I used which was softest was Rubberize by Dura-Rubber. Plasti-dip, rubber guard, and Blaze were too hard. Rust-Oleum Rubber Grip dip is a cheaper alternative to Rubberize-it which I found after spending lots of money on Rubberize-it. Bummer, lol.

    Lowering the forks will steepen the head angle and corner sharper also will keep the front end down from wheeling

    • @jack-o-trades
      @jack-o-trades  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is true for a 1:1 bike where the rider can also throw their weight around. It's less true with an RC bike. True the steering geometry will change. However with this bike you have the crash-back system on the fork so It might be possible to help with the head tube angle there. But it doesn't really keep the front end down by lowering the front of the bike. You still have the same moment about the rear wheel causing the front wheel to pop up. The only real way to address that on an RC bike is to lengthen the rear end of the bike or shift the CG of the bike away from the rear axle. You could also achieve this with additional weight in the front of the bike or maybe using a shorty pack shifted towards the front of the bike.
      Thanks for watching!

    • @jack-o-trades
      @jack-o-trades  ปีที่แล้ว

      I love my Prusa 3D printer. I have about 8 FDM printers and the Prusa is what I primarily use. It’s more expensive but absolutely worth the money. I have thousands of hours on the printer and it just works! It makes parts and I spend very little time messing with it.
      I’m not sold on the 3D scanners. I don’t think they are accurate enough and I don’t think they would give me a parametric model that I could use. I would basically have to model with a scanned overlay model. I don’t know because I have never integrated this into my workflow.
      I typically reverse engineer parts with a set of calipers. It can be tedious but works. I also do test prints to refine the design.

    Why extend the swing arm if you're keeping the same geometry?

    • @jack-o-trades
      @jack-o-trades  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The longer swingarm keeps the front of the bike down. If you don't move the shock point then you have more leverage on the shock which would affect the effective dampening and spring rate of the shock. In order to have the shock work as it is, you have to compensate in the geometry of the arm.

    Great video and upgrades! With the suspension linkage, you shouldn't play with the linkage geometry unless you're rrreally sure what you're doing. Just change the "dogbones" length to alter the ride height when using the longer swingarm and changes to suspension itself should be done with spring tension and shock fluids/internals. Anyway, I would love to see your final products or 3D print files available for sale! 👉👌

      Thanks for the interest. I did in fact design and print the parts. I don't like selling the 3D printed parts because they don't hold up as well as an injection molded part. I have sold a couple of swing arms but they are not impervious to damages. There are companies that do make an aluminum extended swing arm.

      Time for some hill climbs with that swing arm 👍🏼 trust me when I say sell the prints while you can. I’ve been fcked over many times by big Company names taking what I’ve created and changing a smig and selling for a 💩 load. Someone will capitalize on your ideas take it for what it’s worth while you can. I completely quit showing a lot of my concepts because to many people want it for free or fck you over

      The arm works good for speed runs and running around on moderate terrain. I would not recommend it for jumping.

      I know my memory is pretty shot, but I don’t think I ever said I was going to go out and climb a hill.
      There’s lots of different things you could do with it. Ultimately, it helps keep the front end down regardless of what terrain your running on.
      I’m just here to have fun. Thanks for watching.
