Wow. I once thought of asking you guys about reviewing this one, as Sonic Academy is not really known for emulation plugins and this one is quite under the radar.
But I tried the demo and loved it. I'm not really familiar with the original 1176's sound but this one surely sounds great!
The interface is sleek and that 'drive' knob is just ... saucey ...

The real mind bender is that some plug-in versions reverse the attack and release values to work in a more expected way except when you expect it to work backwards.

I'm inclined to agree with you Sean.
I've been A/B'ing it against the Purple One and, discounting the M/S bits, it sounds as good if not better.
THEN the rather nice Drive adds icing to that particular cake. 👍

I tried this compared to an original teletronix, and really on the "sharp" curve model - it sounded closer than the UAD plugin

I'm with you on this, I got the Native version of Universal Audio's 1176, finally, and was pretty convinced that it sounded far superior to Purple Audio's MC77 or any of the other clones!!!

@@richertz Something I find Universal Audio's plugins do is don't completely flatten the sound, it still feels musical, like running it through hardware. Not many other plugins achieve this so successfully.
