The mention of intrinsic motivation and personal growth resonates with self-determination theory, offering valuable insights into the pursuit of authentic happiness.
"What would you be right now if you had an infinite amount of time and money" this is the question I always asking in my brain since money isn't my intrinsic motivation. My Answer: I would help people by counselling and promote mental health for the world. Thank you now I got clear myself.
This is such an important factor! Resiliency and intrinsic motivation will help you succeed through all of the highs and lows of further education. I think the medical school interview is the perfect time for intrinsic motivation and drive to shine through. Hollistic admissions combining standardized test scores, challenges to learning, unique experiences/perspective, and intrinsic motivation through the statement and interview is the way to go! Some schools are definitely on the right track with hollistic review changes.

Sorry, but at 1:45, if I was in the audience, I would have shouted: No, the choice is pretty clear to me. Choose the clearly better one! You could have still done the other one, if you are intrinsically motivated.
Intrinsic motivation is so important for me, cuz extrinsic motivation only helps when I am making goals and decisions, it somehow never works when I am trying to reach my goals.
I wonder if income can be a part of intrinsic motivation in some cases. Motivation is obviously a huge part. In my case, I am totally motivated to be part of a medical profession to help people, but to be able to do so, I need to be financially stable. My goal is to travel around the world and provide medical help to those that can't afford such things. Therefore, money is a part of intrinsic motivation because without it, I am in no position to help others.
This is deeply resonant. The unstructured nature of the complexity that social relations is entangled in cannot be engaged from the known or extrinsically. The map is not and will never be the territory.
Awesome talk!!! A lot here which is applicable to every facet of your life. Really thought-provoking, and made me take pause to consider about all the hoops I have jumped through, not jumped through and why I made those decisions.
i struggle with it as well. but i have noticed that depression is made FAR worse by that extrinsic motivation telling you you’re already failing from the get go. good luck my friend 💕
I've treated depressed and anxious patients partly with intrinsic motivation insights for years. Lack of enough of it is part of the symptoms and can be reintroduced as relief -not extra work
this is true, I am an amazing test taker so I always succeeded academically but I was the laziest student ever. I always procrastinated in my work and hardly ever felt motivated but my school continued to praise me because I was good at taking exams.
Intrinsic motivation is important to reach desired goal . Inspiring and encouraging ted talk . Moreover he is right. I don’t know what medical schools looking for .
This was a very insightful and motivational TED talk on intrinsic motivation as it pertains to professional and graduate school applications. Behrouz presented a compelling story about the path to his own entrepreneurial success and his discovery of how intrinsic motivation should be screened for in graduate and professional applications to find people who are truly passionate about and personally invested in their field.
Isn't it the employers job to psychologically motivate their employees, simply meeting their basic needs is not going to make them productive and its quite easy to give a compliment and make people feel apreciated.
Excellent points about the power of intrinsic motivation. If all doctors were intrinsically motivated to do their job their would be a lot less burnout and a lot better outcomes for patients.
Good comparisons of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation! Great questions to ask oneself and self reflex before investing all the time and money in medical school.

Intrinsic motivation and resiliency have been so important for me this past year!
Love this! Intrinsic motivation is so important to maintain a healthy state of mind while chasing your goals and dreams!

This was an amazing talk!! Intrinsic motivation and resiliency are very important factors for success! Thank you for sharing!❤
This is a wonderful talk. I think more schools should take notice.
I wish that more grad schools took all this research into consideration when designing their admissions process.
Intrinsic motivation is such an important topic to talk about, especially when it comes to it's influences on recruitment and admission processes!

Very well explained. Thank you for sharing your excellent ideas.
Kinda hard to have intrinsic motivation when you suffer from depression and anxiety:(
Its an obstical I face as well! You can move along with it and come out the other end a better person
What are you grateful for?
i struggle with it as well. but i have noticed that depression is made FAR worse by that extrinsic motivation telling you you’re already failing from the get go. good luck my friend 💕
Go do Ayahuasca and address your traumas. These will go away.

Love the comparison of extrinsic and intrinsic motivation. Very applicable
I've been looking for the words, they don't talk about this in school, in fact bringing it up by definition I received eye rolls left and right.

Interesting analysis of how grades and standardized test scores are correlated to success in the workplace.
Your video helped in my hrm exam.
This was a really motivational and inspiring video.
Must watch!
but how do you find your intrinsic motivation
Do what you enjoy doing. Chances are you had it naturally as a child but it got forced out of you in order to prepare you for society.
Very insightful! I always love a good Ted Talk!
Good stuff guys
I've learnt that some people have zero intrinsic motivation and who are also unable to develop it.
excellent insights
Great video with in-depth insight on intrinsic motivation. Very well done Dr. Moemeni!
What a great inspirational talk ! Very informative and helpful understanding human motivations!
Have great points!
Reza Moemeni: Great talk and great presentation! Thanks for sharing.
Amazing talk!!!! I feel so inspired! Thank you!
Inspirational!
It's really great video about intrinsic motivation. Thank you for sharing.
How do I watch this again?
why is the video shaky? the camera man is not good
why is the format of the ted talk so weird
how can I do a tedx like this one?
what's the company???
Intrinsic motivation! One of my favorite topics!
This was great! Also, sad that only 20 % of doctors care about the job of 'doctor'. and that 80% were only motivated by money or status.
This is informative!
Great foray into understanding one's motivation and how to improve it. Thanks for the insight!
where is this
thank you for sharing this talk with us!
where is this taken?

I lost my motivation for school. thanks very much
I would love to play this man in MK11
There should be different tools for screening. Standardized testing is failing horribly
Interesting talk but does not really align with the interview process by this company (BeMo)
Mortal Kombat was my favorite game too!! lol
great
“Intrinsic motivation does not correlate with wealth” - there goes your pyramid, Mr. Maslow.
interesting....as about the datas
I don't agree with this. I think it's still best to get people to do standardized tests. Without them it's not possible to have a measurable standard
Wow, I cannot believe someone would say he had a "broken brain," no matter his age...
great! interesting!
i'm so motivated now lol
This is the guy who scams premeds into spending 10k for essay reviews
when a speaker admires people like Steve Jobs and Serena Williams you should probably look elsewhere for your inspiration.
I don't agree. money is the best motivator - after a gun
Have Fun lol
first comment?
Wait, intrinsic motivation is important, but I'm pretty sure this guy didn't "discover" it... 😂
Job applications in BeMo sound like a religious cult ads
