If you do another one perhaps explain that people don't catch colds from being out in the rain or from their feet being cold. They can only catch a cold from bing exposed to a cold virus which is generally absorbed through the nasal passages.
@@BrendanSteele Man, first of all, that virus will take advantage by the fact when exposed to cold, our immune system is weaker. But, it's not the only one. If you can enjoy a food's smell and taste and still die from poisoning due to the food being spoiled, you were a mutant anyway. Bad food starts to cause disgust and even vomiting looooong before it causes anything even related to death.
Pepperidge Farms in particular gives their products a very short shelf life so consumers always get a fresher product than all their competitors. 3 months for most cookies and crackers and 3 or 4 days for bread.. It mainly matters for when they ship to overseas USA bases as the products arrive expired and have to be tested by military food inspectors to certify suitability for consumption. (I was one). The amount of sugar or salt in those products would keep them from going bad much longer.
When you use a waterhose to create a rainbow while standing on a roof (or any other tall structure and you create the rainbow between you and the ground), it's also in a circle. Actually, it depends on how you define “highest”. Everest’s peak is farthest above “sea level” but, since the Earth is not a perfect sphere there is a number of other peaks that are farther from the center of the Earth.
Actually technically everest is the third highest, Everest is the highest from sea level, hawaii is the highest physically from the base and chimborazu in equador is the highest from the center of the earth. So being third best is pretty good given the company.
Doesn't everest eventually reach the sea floor too. So are we measuring what we see or from the sea floor. They all eventually reach the deepest place on earth.
@@childresshouse read what I said, everest is the highest above sea level, mauno loa is the highest from base and chimborazu is the highest from the center of the earth because of planetary bulge due to the 1000mph rotational speed of the planet at the equator. Several years ago my phone got wet and all I knew to try was to put it in a plastic bag along with (instant) rice. So that's what I did. The phone dried out and it worked just fine for about a year or so after that. Oh, it was about a year old at the time.
Neither of these. Hold on to any dessicant packets you get with shoes or packages. Put those in a ziploc bag. When your phone gets wet, drop it in the ziploc bag till it's dry. Rice can clog up ports and cat litter is not dust free.
@@djbeatz3 that isn't the kind of cat litter I was talking about. Did you see that I specified the clear/crystal kind? It is silica. That is what's in those desiccant packets.
During my pathology course we had to swab anything in the building to see if colonies would grow. Everyone ran to the toilets. I went straight to the lunch room and swabbed the sponge they used to wash the dishes. Health department were called due to me having a lovely family of E coli growing. Toilet swabbers grew nothing.
@@BrendanSteele Brass door handles are quite good. Copper has an antibacterial effect as far as I know. In many Asian countries people eat the rice and food with bare hands. Sometimes from common big bowls. Obviously the germs from your hand and the saliva from your mouth, they all go to the common bowl.
I had to do this in my microbiology class. I swabbed the lines in the cement block walls (where the grout is). Yeah, my Petri dish had so much growing it was almost impossible to clean it up enough to identify all the bugs. Seems no one can resist the wall cracks 😊
My biology class did this too. I went to the public park benches in the courtyard and swabbed the picnic tables. It was one of the most colorful Petri dishes in the class.

I lived in Dublin for most of the 70’s. We spent St. Pat’s day by going to Mass in the morning, buying some shamrock from the little old lady outside the church, then going for a ride in the Wicklow mountains, stopping for lunch, often in the garden of a nice pub, it being early spring. In the evening, we would go to a pub where there was good music. We never went to the, then, small parade. That was for tourists.
Patrick was a member of the Celtic culdee church. From his surviving writings, we can deduce that his beliefs were Bible centred. There is no evidence that he took part in a mass. In fact, the Celtic church was far removed from the errors of Rome.
@@mikekelly5869 Same here... and who the heck thought St. Patrick was originally Irish? I mean, "everyone" knows that he was a missionary TO Ireland - not a missionary FROM Ireland! LOL. This guy's video has more holes in it than a sponge.
Mana Kea isn't off the coast of Hawaii, it is part of the Island of Hawaii. Kilauea, Hualalai, Kohala, Mauna Loa, and Mauna Kea are the volcanic mountains that make up the Big Island of Hawaii. Hawaii refers to a Kingdom, a state, and archipelago, all made of several Islands (more than 100), it is also an individual island, and a county. Off the southeast coast of Hawaii Island is Kamaʻehuakanaloa Seamount (formally Loihi) which is still submersed below the waves by 975 m. Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea, and Haleakala (Maui) should all be taller than Mount Everest when measured from the base.

Which is too bad, because he completely botched the Mt. Everest entry. Mt. Everest is still the highest point on the surface of the earth. No one has ever claimed it's the tallest mountain from base to peak. It's not really even that tall from those metrics. Denali and Kilimanjaro are both much taller from base to peak. So if we're going to be technical about anything, it should be that there are two methods of defining mountain height, and Everest is only tallest according to the most commonly used one.
no franklin was musing that the turkey was a honorable bird because it got its living by getting its own food while the eagle may look cool, but it was a thief and bully stealing food from other smaller birds........... actually it seems the eagle IS a accurate symbol!!!

I hate it when people use tallest and highest as if they are the same thing . They are not! Mount Everest is the highest mountain on earth, it's just not the tallest. I'm not taller than my friends just because I'm standing on a ladder. I'm just higher. So no, Mauna Kea is NOT higher than Mt. Everest. It is taller, but not higher.
An obscure one: Diana Ross discovered the Jackson Five. In reality, Motown producer Bobby Taylor discovered the Jackson Five. It was he who brought the group to the attention to Motown president Berry Gordy.
Their first hit was written by an English man called Micheal ( Mike) Jackson. In the Uk the Jackson 5 and Mike Jackson both had versions of the record in the charts at the same time, The Jackson 5 version reached a higher position but not by much.

I remember reading one time that a letter exists in which Abner Doubleday tells someone about a game he learned while on holiday somewhere. He may have brought baseball to the US, but he learned of it somewhere else. He did not invent it.
Baseball is derived from an English game common in the late 1700's among milkmaids, called Rounders. The batter protected a milk stool from getting hit by the pitched ball, and typically had two bases vs 1 in cricket. The concept of fair vs foul balls was due to typically fewer participants available.
Hard water refers to the calcium and magnesium content of the water. High concentrations of calcium and magnesium can cause deposits on the places where those elements come in contact with air, like a showerhead or in the sink. They don't harm the body. In fact calcium and magnesium ions are beneficial to your skeletal structure, as carbonate, phosphate, nitrate, and iodine ions are necessary for the correct functioning of your body. As with anything, overconsumption can lead to health problems. Consuming too much salt can lead to kidney problems, and overconsumption of other elements can lead to abnormal cellular growth, also known as tumors. Other materials in the water, like heavy metals due to pollution or corroded lead piping, are harmful to your body. Tap water should not contain those. If your tap water is contaminated, you should not drink it under any circumstances, including after home filtration. Boiling contaminated water will only kill organisms, it will not remove harmful toxins. In fact, it will increase the concentration of toxins and heavy metals as you're evaporating water. Distilled water is devoid of minerals (salts), and is harmful to your body when consumed in larger quantities. Distilled water will be absorbed into your cells much faster than mineral water, and can lead to organ failure. Your cells contain minerals, and water passes through the cell walls via a process called osmosis. This will try to balance the salinity of the liquid inside and outside the cells, and can cause cell walls to rupture, killing the cells.
I dried things out (cell phones included) by finding a air tight vessel and fashioning a vacuum chamber using a vacuum pump used the AC repair/installation. The moisture will boil off due to the evacuation of all gases by the pump.
Then a time portal opened up and shot into the past where various photos were taken of people trying to use it without towers. Don't take your cell phone into the past with you. They won't work.
If silica gel is not available, sugar is also a good absorbant. Do not put your phone directly in sugar but put the sugar in coffee filters or tea baggies.
As long as you don't disturb the rice, salt or sugar, there is no risk of dust getting into your phone. All of those are excellent desiccants, just don't throw it on the rice, or bury it in the rice, or shake the bag before or while the phone is in there. Also, most phones nowadays are water-resistant. You can drop it in water and it'll work fine as long as you don't depress any buttons while the phone is underwater. The same goes for watches. All buttons and crowns are sealed with gaskets. As long as those gaskets remain sealed, your watch will be fine. However, if you press a button on a water-resistant watch or pull the crown while submerged, you've broken the seal and it will flood, no matter how shallow you are or how water-resistant the watch may be.
Baseball is basically an evolution of the English game, rounders, which is very similar, but played with a smaller bat. The first reference to rounders as a game was in 1744.
Rice actually is a factor is removing liquid from cell phone, iPads and the like, but not as most think. You cannot use long or short grain rice, as they do put off far too much dust and will damage the circuitry. Instead make you use ‘Sticky’, Asian Rice, I have great success with Korean Rice. Then put it in a food sealer, I use a FoodSaver®️. Step 1: I make a bag. Step2: Fill it about 2/3 of way with the ‘Sticky’ Rice. Step 3: Lay the bag of ‘Sticky’ Rice on its side. Step 4: Insert the iPhone (my model, though friends have used various other models) in to the bag, in the rice with the ports facing the opening of the bag. Step 5: Insert the bag into the FoodSaver®️. Step 6: Start the cycle and let it run. Step 7: Set the bag aside for 6-8 hours. Occasionally, the process must be repeated. The success rate has been 100% for me and all those whom I know that have used this method.
And if you drop your phone in the toilet and put it in a bag full of rice, you can use the rice for cooking after your phone is dried out. Waste not, want not.

The "cellphone in rice" actually does work. At least it did for me. Back in July of 2013, I was in my bass boat out on the lake one day and accidentally left the rear live well aeration pump on and it overflowed into the "glovebox" between the two seats. Which is where I kept my iPhone 4 that day. When I went to check the time and for missed calls/texts, I realized my phone was under about 5" of water. I quickly removed it, and quickly wrapped it tightly in a towel. I did not push any buttons or the screen bcuz I knew that any touch "command would cause an electrical charge to flow and probably result in shorting out the board and frying the circuitry. I got back to my apartment about 2 hrs later (4;30p), stuffed it down deep into a half-full box of rice, and left it there until I got up the next morning around 7a to go to work. Before I left, I put it on the charger until I got home later on that day. When I got home, I tried to turn it on and low and behold it powered up. The only lasting sign it had been submersed was the camera was looked a little bit cloudy but overall it was fine. The cloudiness went away 3 days later. The reason I was so desperate to save the phone was because it was my g/f's that she gave to me because I wanted another iPhone after my 3GS was stolen, and she wanted to upgrade to a Samsung Galaxy S3. She passed away two weeks prior to this incident and my phone had a lot of pictures of me and her together. So, to me, I felt since I couldn't save her, I HAD to save that phone. Man, grief makes you rationalize things in some strange, inexplicable ways sometimes.

# 17 At one time Catholics referred to Protestants as "snakes." Patrick's preaching converted so many to Catholicism, it is in this sense he "drove the snakes out of Ireland."
What they call protestantism began in the Christ Era (CE) right after Christ rose to heaven. Catholicism made it seem like they were the first church. Catholicism came after.
@@bkThund3r No. Christianity was the first church, Catholicism came second and Protestantism third. Protestantism tells us what it is in its name: it was a protest against the theology and authoritarianism of the Roman Catholic Church. The closest we have gotten to the early church is when Pentecostalism first started after the Azusa Street Revivals (1906-1915). The churches were independent house meetings which stressed fellowship, Bible study, and worship over ritual and routine, exactly what the early church did. Unfortunately, those churches were the forebears of the evangelical megachurches that are ruining Christianity now.
To dry a cell phone: Place the phone in a sock. Duct tape the sock to the end of your vacuum cleaners hose. Let the vacuum run on blow for an hour. I would recommend doing this outside or in a garage due to the noise. 13:45
I suspect that dolphins are all too similar to people. Sure, there are plenty of nice friendly dolphins, but there are also plenty of nasty, evil ones.
@11:37 - "OMG OMG OMG!... look, a double rainbow"...Sigh! - Rainbows are always double. The outer being in the reverse order of the inner and often a lot fainter. ... And under certain conditions you may be lucky enough to see a full circle rainbow while flying... and again, that would obviously be a full circle "double" rainbow.
Not many people know this, but indeed dolphins are not friendly at all. As are orcas, chimps, baboons and lions, they are very human-like; They all like to torture. They play (torture) with- and keep other animals hostage. Also, they hold a grudge and seek vengeance in gruesome ways. Even after a longer period of time. And the ones we are taught to hate, like hyenas, wolves, rats, pigeons and sharks are actually very sweet and social animals.
#11. In the absence of atmosphere ALL objects, regardless of their mass, fall at the same speed. This was demonstrated by one of the Apollo astronauts, standing on the moon, dropping a rock and a feather at the same time.
Who thought soft water was better to drink? People have water softeners put in their homes mostly to cut down on hard water deposits on taps and also because it helps cleaning products be more "sudsy". It feels nicer to bathe in as well. If installed correctly, however, the soft water will not be run through the tap most likely to be used for drinking water for exactly the reason stated in the video. Hard water is better for you because you are getting the minerals from it that your body needs. Besides, truly clean water tastes terrible.
One myth is that you can't ever reach the end of a rainbow because the image continues to move as you do. That isn't true. When I was a kid, my family was traveling down from Cloudcroft NM in the fall. Winding mountain roads. There was a beautiful rainbow we watched for some time. All of a sudden, we rounded a corner and the whole car went orange then red. We looked back and the rainbow, for a brief moment, was behind us. We literally drove through a rainbow. We kids were really bummed when dad wouldn't pull over to look for the pot of gold.

Mt. Everest IS the highest mountain, but it’s not the tallest. Those words aren’t interchangeable.
Makes sense. The highest refers to elevation on earth. Tallest refers to height from base to tip
So I'm not sure what you do not understand. Also everest has no part of it touching the ocean it's like 2500 miles from the indian ocean in the nw corner of the Himalaya's.

Phone tip - put it in a plastic container with that clear/white cat litter. It will absorb the liquid without dust getting in there.

Baseball is just a dumbed-down version of a British children's game called Rounders.

If you are ever thirsty enough to drink the Municipality water here, you will find that the last true/false is tragically wrong.
That sounds complicated.
Then a time portal opened up and shot into the past where various photos were taken of people trying to use it without towers. Don't take your cell phone into the past with you. They won't work.
Something to try put inside a running vacuum cleaner for a few minutes with hose covered.

If silica gel is not available, sugar is also a good absorbant. Do not put your phone directly in sugar but put the sugar in coffee filters or tea baggies.
I suppose you could do the same with rice contained in paper.
Great content and presentation. 🇦🇺 😊

Rice actually is a factor is removing liquid from cell phone, iPads and the like, but not as most think.

This was a really cool and very accurate (if devoid of the most information ... which would have ended up being hours long, so I get it) video! Thanks for posting!
Brown is NOT a color in the rainbow. Brown is not a spectral color, but I think that everybody except you already knew this.
“…the rice to dry out completely before switching it on again.” Oops! 😄
# 17 At one time Catholics referred to Protestants as "snakes." Patrick's preaching converted so many to Catholicism, it is in this sense he "drove the snakes out of Ireland."
The "snakes" he drove out were the pagan Druids. No such thing as a protestant in the 4th century CE.
Protestants didn't come on the scene until the 1500's, 500-600 years after St. Patrick was alive.
@@richardderuiter4612 Your timing is a bit off. Patrick was around 400 CE so more like 1100 years before Martin Luther and the start of Protestantism.
DUDE, DON'T BE DISSIN' MY DOLPHINS!! :)
Tell that to the poor Porpoises
I suspect that dolphins are all too similar to people. Sure, there are plenty of nice friendly dolphins, but there are also plenty of nasty, evil ones.
Quit being a fairy
Great video! I like number 1 because I live where we drink ancient glaciers.. I did know a few of these, and enjoyed learning more, thank you!
12 I know this one. My mum tried the other day after her phone got wet. Sure, it dried it out, but the screen wouldnt work
@11:37 - "OMG OMG OMG!... look, a double rainbow"...Sigh! - Rainbows are always double. The outer being in the reverse order of the inner and often a lot fainter.
... And under certain conditions you may be lucky enough to see a full circle rainbow while flying... and again, that would obviously be a full circle "double" rainbow.
So tests on amber prove the properties of glass?
I knew all but the Abner Doubleday "fact". Some I've heard only in recent years though. Ty Mike for another great list
As a avid coffee connoisseur.I knew about coffee.
St Patrick’s day is still a religious holiday in Ireland, it’s only in America that it’s all about drinking.
That's so we Americans can have an excuse to drink.

Same in Oz 🇦🇺 👍
@@patcarter-ix2zbI don’t think you need an excuse
But the pope did lift the ban on alcohol for this celebration
This guy is hilarious! Instant subscribe.😂
A friend of mine took a photo of a full-circle rainbow, as viewed from an airplane

#11. In the absence of atmosphere ALL objects, regardless of their mass, fall at the same speed. This was demonstrated by one of the Apollo astronauts, standing on the moon, dropping a rock and a feather at the same time.
Harrison Apollo 17 dropped a hammer and a feather
Allegedly it was Gallileo who did the experiment with metal balls from the Tower of Pisa
Hey hey! Missed you guys so much!
Ben Franklin wanted the middle finger for the bird.
Bird is the word- Peter Griffin.
Trashmen!
The Scottish perfected the bagpipes? Who was in charge of quality control THAT day!? lol
There's obviously something wrong with your source of soft water. Truly hard water is disgustingly undrinkable!
The hard water at my house will cure your chlorine and limescale deficiencies.
You, like he, are confusing artificially softened water with naturally soft water.
Mauna Kea is not "off the coast of Hawaii". It's essentially the Island of Hawaii.
