    "Have you Ever Seen a Dream Walking" (sung by Bing Crosby) was featured in Steve Martin's PENNIES FROM HEAVEN. The song dates from 1933.

    "We don't like to tell our ages. (Muriel Landers) That's the one thing I'm sensitive about". LOL, Unfettered clean humor-oh if we could only have some more of that today. Jack Benny was so priceless! Muriel Landers too :)

    Iris Adrian, June Earle, and Muriel Landers. Great talent, Muriel was in Dr. Doolittle (the original)

      Muriel Landers was also in an episode of The Twilight Zone "A Piano In The House" with Joan Hackett.

    • @OofusTwillip
      @OofusTwillip 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Muriel stole the show when she guested on "Laugh In", as a little girl singing that she'd done naughty things because nobody had told her she shouldn't do those things. The song was specially written for her by the show's musical director, Billy Barnes.

  • @hebneh
    @hebneh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I suspect the opera singer is partly padded for this role to accentuate her girth for laughs.And it works.

    • @OofusTwillip
      @OofusTwillip 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Nope. Muriel Landers had plenty of natural padding. She and Peggy Mondo (who played the role when the routine became the mod trio, The Smithers Sisters, on a 1968 episode of "The Hollywood Palace") pretty much had all the "fat girl" roles covered.

    • @davemiller4721
      @davemiller4721 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Rose Bowl Parade is in Pasadena. Benny wouldn't even take these girls to Pomona - in other words, they don't rate.

    Nobody could pull this off like Benny. A true great - unlike the unfunny, non talented "comedians" we have today - seinfeld, conan, colbert, etc.

    In the good old days when a comedian could make fat and ugly jokes and not lose his career due to the selective outrage mob on the left.
