Hi Alex, I got my Gen II from you back in January and I have been thoroughly impressed with the quality and performance (and so has my buddy who paid a lot more for his Vortex Diamondback). I have it mounted on my Tikka T3X in 6.5 CM and love it. Thanks for bringing this great optic to Canadian shooters at a reasonable cost. Cheers and good shooting !
I also bought mine from Alex and mounted on the same rifle and shoot 1100 yards regularly with no issues at all. I’ve since swapped to a delta Stryker optic on that rifle and am mounting the discovery on my Siberian SRV2 and gunna try and shoot 1km with it!
Just received my discovery ed prs 5x25x56 gen2. I ordered it from the dicovery optics store on aliexpress. It took 1.5 weeks to arrive. Even though it said "High" in the description it came with the 1.26 scope rings, which are the perfect height for my model 70 SA heavy varmit rifle. It also came with front flip and rear scope caps. It also came with a rear flip cap. I have not used this on the range yet, but the build quality and optics are excellent. Your review is excellent! Keep up the great work!
Hey sir, got my ED-PRS 5-25 Gen II in earlier today. Your review was spot on and I love the optic. Really appreciate the reviews you've done and continue to do. This optic is a very good deal at this price point. Thanks again!!
Hi Alex. I just wanted to say your videos are AWESOME and your delivery is first class. That's why I subscribed. Just a couple of VERY small comments that I'm sure you are already aware of.... Yes, Discovery DOES listen to the customer and responds VERY quickly to their on-going improvement process. Here's my comments.... I have 4 Arken EP5s, an SH-4J and a couple of their very early models. Yes, they had growing pains and I think the response of the consumers caught them off-guard. ha ha. I also have 4 of the Discovery 5-25X56 PRS scopes. One Gen l and 3 Gen lls. My last Gen ll I received (late last week) has several 'upgrades' the specimen you showcase does not. - Yes, they finally got rid of the 3 sunshades. Whose idea was that? - They have included a flip-up cap for the eyepiece. People REALLY complained about that!!! Plus the regular rubber eyepiece cap that does fit on the illumination dial. ? - The 'latest' scopes now come with the improved 'honed' rings! I love these things and have accumulated a stock of both the low and med in both 7075 and 6061. - Also, the throw lever has been redesigned and is permanently attached. Small, but great upgrades! - Also, Amazon has lowered the price $50 USD. I honestly have not done a side-by-side comparison of my Arkens vrs the Discovery, but my initial sighting-in of the recent Disc Gen lls has impressed me. I have a NEW Vortex 5-25X56 (34mm) Strike Eagle and it (being an $800) scope cannot come close to either the Arkens or the Discovery. Even my four (!!) CV Life 5-25X56 (34mm) scopes are superior to the Vortex. Only thing that doesn't elevate it to the Arken quality, is the turrets are NOT as good as the Arken or Discovery. Perfectly usable, but once you dial with the A or D, you're hooked! Be safe..... ron (saving up for the Arken 7-35X56 Gen ll).......... Just wanted to put this information out for folks on the fence about getting one. I LOVE 'em.
I had ordered one last week from Amazon and should arrive today for my Savage 110 in 6.5CM. I was heavily comparing the Arken SH4J. I went with the Discovery for the wider objective lens for a bit more light. Can't wait to mount this thing!
It might be nice to know that within the box there's a handy small plastic device that you can use instead of a coin to adjust te scope. As it's never been mentioned I guess most users don't find it on the bottom of the black foam, I saw it after several days myself.
What do you think about ED-LHT gen2 3-15x50? That would be more suitable for hunting and sometimes long range shooting scenario bacuse of the less weight. Please reply.
Thanks for teaching me the Canadian pronunciation of chamois. I received a new ED-PRS 5-25 x 56 today. Amazon $349. The manual enclosed was not for this model. I see no contact info online or a pdf manual. I am wondering what the left, outside knob function is? Thoughts?
@jeffkalina7727 hey Jeff, I sell them in Canada, and also this is my my review the dial on the left is the focus parallax and on the same knob, the illumination

You introduced VT-T 3-18x50 FFP 5 years ago, I bought it and I liked the glass quality very much. If you compare the glass quality of ED-PRS 5-25 GEN II, I wonder if it is better or the same?
Big difference between the two. Yhe diamondback was designed much earlier. The vortex has only 6 mils per revolution while the Discovery had 10 mils per revolution. The vortex only has a total of 19mils of adjustment while the discovery has 36 mils. The vortex also has a smaller feild of view than th3 Discovery. Also the glass in the vortex is inferior. The vortex was good for its time but there are more competitive optics at good prices out this day and age.
@@EpikArms very interesting, Ill consider this on my next scope purchase. Looks promising, and this brand has a range of good quality scopes. But, for similar money - would you not consider a Vortex Venom or an Element Helix? Thanks.
Good question, the venom has significantly less adjustment so not ideal for ELR. And the Helix has less adjustment and only 5 mils per Rev on top of that.

Long barrel life in my opinion is overated. The odds of you shooting 6000 rounds through a 6.5cm aren't that high. But to answer your question I don't know.
.308 is gonna be the closest to the 6.5, from there probably 7mm-08 and 30-06 but it all depends at what distance you are shooting and the speed and weight of the bullets you are pushing. For most people's shooting habits they will rarely shoot out a barrel. Now if you start shooting F-class and running overbore magnums to beat the wind and have less drop you will burn through some barrels but even those will last around 1200 rounds. Example 7mm Rem mag, 7PRC, 300 win mag, 300RUM, 300PRC and several others.
@jtigertic Thank you Justin that was a really good answer. Looking at tikka t3x Super varmint in 600mm 1:10twist I was thinking of 308 and in 10 to push some heavy pills but I am wondering is it gonna be good enough for 1.2 or 1.4 kilometers just for the fun factor to ring some steel far away couse everyone is falling for those 6.5 but I want to be able to do some deep penetration and 30-06 seem to have all the weights you would ever need and just a touch more speed than 308. As they say 30-06 is 270 but on a vegan diet.
@kmom777 .308 is the least likely to burn your barrel out prematurely and is the most available full power cartridge with loadings ranging from very inexpensive surplus to very high-quality match offerings. It is perfect for shooting man sized steel well past 1000 meters. If you're looking for the tightest groups on a bullseye past 1000, then I would say the 6.5 Creedmore/ PRC or .280 Ackley or some of the benchrest chamberings could do you better. Either way, have fun!
