Thanks for the great tutorial! I have had a Shewee for a long time but have never taken the time to learn how to use it properly. I tried it today after watching this post and it worked perfectly! I am so excited for all my upcoming adventures! Thanks for sharing all this great info! All the best to you on your incredible journey. I look forward to following you :)
Gurlll I brought this and failed so many times, until I listened to your explanation….letting the flaps hug it, works to perfection for me! Thank you so much for sharing, this is now a total game changer for my world trip!
How generous of you to be so precise with your information. Loved your review and explanation. Bought the other kind and this is what I’m looking for. Thanks so much.
Cool. Thank you. I was just being nosy because I am not outdoorsy. However, I wondered if this could be used in a car. It doesn't sound like it would be a good idea. Thanks for sharing. Safe travels to you.
Amazing video - literally as you say not much info from real women who have used it (a lot!) thank you! Super helpful to consider trying it with shoes and clothes on before my trip! Good luck on your walk!
Thank you for sharing this. Very helpful. I’m glad you mentioned the pelvic floor issue. I had read somewhere that we weren’t meant to stand and pee because of this very thing. I haven’t looked for the why of it though. Stay safe and most of all keep enjoying your amazing adventure! We love you 💚 Kimmi & Keegan
I was eager to raise it particularly as I hear more from girlfriends about health issues that blindsided them due to lack of public dialogue. When I have more time and resource, I’ll likely re-visit this topic for an update and chat to a specialist about the potential consequences for more informative/ research based content. 🙌
@@LucyBarnardThis was so helpful thankyou. Having issues taking our growing girls hiking now they are too big to be dangled for a wee, but not big enough to wait as long as I do. Which got me thinking; I hold on for ages when we hike because, well, "female" and you have to! But hubby, he barely waits before popping off behind a tree, privelege! I seriously wonder if the sort of female likely to buy this and use it regularly is then not waiting to go as long as before and essentially training our bladders to not wait as long? You could account for the possibility of it by trying to wait more as you did before getting one, and perhaps squatting slightly even when using it, adjusting the pelvic position a touch as long as it doesn't alter the "aim" too much 😂
Great video! @LucyBarnard , might I recommend you do Kegel exercises to maintain pelvic tone if you think using the she wee has caused you to lose tone. They are simple to do and can be done at any time. Thank you for the tips!! (love the she wee!)
Congratulations to you for walking the length of the Americas. What a journey you must have. Thank you also for the concise instructions on the Sheiwi. I saw this and I think it’s something I could use, but I wasn’t sure how. After watching your video with your tips I feel very informed now..
Great tips and i had a good laugh at the frostbite part 😅 I'm planning a 4 day cross-country skiing trip with my dog and this little device could be useful in the cold, but I'll see how the practice runs go first 😁 Good luck on your adventure!
Hi, I have been using my shewed as a Grey nomad in OZ, and now as we trek around Europe. Usually it is great, but I have had the occasional leak. Thanks for the helpful tips, so hopefully will avoid that happening again
VERY USEFUL video. Thank you. Do you have any issues with 1) overflow if you have to go a lot? 2) "vapor lock" from it being sealed against your body and then it cannot drain properly? Appreciate the practical guide. Good luck on your long walk!
YES!! I left this off (opsy) and for this reason I’ll update it. When it’s in position, pull the front down to make a space, so the pointy end is against your skin and the round end open. Great question. I think about it every week how I need to do an update!!!
Thank you, very informative video. I bought one yesterday and it worked well when i practised over the loo. It did not come with the extender and I will need to find a privacy container for it.
I keep mine in a side pocket so I can grab it while my pack is still on. So consider a round or low profile container, they’re easier to put back in the pack without having to remove it.
Thank you Lucy! I do heaps of kayaking, leading small groups through floating meditations. I have a few 'urinals' for men but nothing for the ladies. Do you think the Shewee would work in a kayak?? Love your frank, casual style! All the best on your incredible quest!!! 🙏
I guess it’d depend on the level of competency of your clients, the stability of the kayaks and the chop on water. Not impossible but not something I’ve tried. If they can’t aim out the boat because of balance, perhaps suggest a bottle.
Wow, what an amazing journey you're on. Thank you for your tips and tricks. I can't use this thing but after seeing this im going to try again. Surely it can't be too hard though I ALWAYS wear more than lands on the ground 🫤 I'll keep at it... thanks again ❤
Thank you! I've had mine for years and used it once fine, then used it again and it was messy and embarrassing and havent touched it again. Duck shooting is coming up so I was searching for info. I'll try again!
Oh my God thank you so much! I was having a horrible time with my Shewee when I was climbing until I watched your video, you have saved me from pissing all over myself😂 thank you!!! And also you are an inspiration, I hope to one day also walk the Americas just like you!!! Much love and prayers for your safe travels 🙏 ❤
There is another option to toilet paper called a Kula cloth or bush cloth. It’s an anti microbial material with a waterproof backing that can be used for wiping, then attached to the outside of your pack and rinsed when possible. Still need that TP for number 2s tho 😉
I have been told when I was a kid not to pee in the shower because it’s bad for women’s bladders to pee standing up. I kinda thought they were just saying that so I didn’t pee in their shower 😉 but maybe there’s some truth to it! Thanks for sharing this Lucy I have been contemplating getting a shewee for ages and I don’t know if I will now cos I already struggle with frequent urgency and control.
I’d definitely recommend chatting with a specialist. I have no idea if this is something that has been studied or not and there could be many variables… like I’m an aging adventurer!! 😅
Why do you look so familiar to me?? Are you a CI dancer boy any chance? Or could be an Oz connection though I live in Mex. Just watched this video as was googling shewee and your vid popped up...are you still in Mex?
I have to pee into a jerrycan style container, which is too big to hold in the toilet, so I'm using the SheWee to pee straight into the bucket, but it's uncomfortable because of the angle.
I find it easier to hold it right at the urethra from the front and sit up straight to prevent yourself from squishing your bladder and the urine won’t spray. Good luck! 😊
Hi Rusty! I’m not a healthcare professional so I avoid giving details here however below is an article written by subject matter experts that touch on the topic. @@LucyBarnard Thank you for this article. I just got a SheWee a few days ago and have been practicing over my toilet - your video has seriously helped. Aside from trying to break the mental association of "I'm fully clothed and standing - do not release your bladder!" sense, it has gone pretty well with no disaster pants... :) However, I have noticed I am not able to completely void my bladder -- I can empty it maybe 75% and then need to sit down to complete. Not sure if this is just 'more practice required', or what the article above is talking about. I'm trying different stances to see if that helps. (Sidebar: Oh the weirdness of TH-cam connections and TMI..... lol ) Good luck on your trip.
@@LucyBarnardI'd guess peeing while standing with and without devices would be anatomically quite similar, since the device doesn't change what happens in the body

on that note, we also aren't meant to sit at 90°to pee either... squatting is the natural position

Thats interesting that standing to pee over a period of time may affect the pelvic floor muscles. I wonder why that is?
I agree wonder why ?
I don't know either, I suppose though that since it doesn't happen to men, men were peeing while standing in old times and women while squatting.
Useful video and good luck on your journey across the Americas 👊🏿

I want to use something like this for next time doing a urinalysis test. I can't pee into those dang cups without a mess.

Not good for urinalysis as possible bacteria on devise going into specimen bottle give false results . IMO
It seem's easier just to use an old jam jar like i always have done
Thanks
You’re welcome!!!!
I’ve found that using a shewee doesn’t impact the pelvic floor but that’s more of an age thing.
The women I know, know how to squat and pee without making a mess, heck even my 3 year old granddaughter knows how
