Great song, I was 11 when this was a hit in 70. top 5. lately I have been hearing it and have revisited the song. He had such a unique voice. I liked the key change at the chorus and the song turned into a Gospel Hymn tent revival with the clapping. There is something magical about this song. To use an old phrase-they don't write em like this anymore. God Bless Tee Set and Peter Tetteroo.
This is the first 45 my dad gave me after my mom and him split. I was 3. I played it hundreds of times, hoping he would come home. When I listen now I can see and smell the room I was in. The beginning of my love of music!
I was 12 and there was this girl 11 on my paper route that would come outside everyday when I delivered the paper, and we'd talk but I could never tell her how I felt, but this song always makes me think of her.
+Alex Kißmehl I'm a fetus and all my friends listen to the Justin Bieber and 1D , none of them understand my hip REAL taste in music - I'm glad you and I are on the same wavelength my friend Alex
I am a Detroit 60 yr old chick; I remember this song came out in the 60s, a radio station across the Detroit River named CKLW used to play this # frequently.......
My mother loved this song, it is actually my namesake (: she would be 54, we're also from Detroit, so it's possible you guys heard it on the same station!
+Robert Longwill Yes, it was Windsor, 800 AM. We used to pick it up down here in Dayton, Ohio. CKLW had better programming than the local stations so we listened to instead.
I remember this song from my childhood and would search for it, but I'm not English and my search word was "my bell are me" (this was the only words/sound I could remember) AND I FOUND IT! Thanks to the uploader!! ;)
tried this song last night at a karaoke. Hilarious because haven't thought of it since 1971-72. All i could think while singing was walking home from 8th grade school asking a bilingual friend what the French words meant. All that innocense was felt again.
There was a time when I was 8 yrs. old..WoW, how time flew by.. Wish I were 8 yrs. old again..Listening to my 45a with the girls a few houses down.. Hey Debbie and Jeanie Stein. Ladonna Sweet..😎
I was listening to the 70s on the radio and watching hippies sing and play guitar on Lamar University campus. We lived almost on campus, about 3 blocks one way and 4 another way. I was 12 so couldnt stay long. I like the music though.
I well remember this lovely song and the drop-dead gorgeous lead singer! Whatever happened to this band? They only had one hit in America, and as good as they were they should have enjoyed MANY hits.
***** They were based in Holland. Had they been in London, who knows? They certainly had a sweet sound and this song was huge in New Zealand at about the same time as Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes. Had a transistor on my bike and well remember both of them while pedalling in the summer sun. Little did I know that was as good as it got. Cheers, True Averil
I remember as a kid in the 1970s I'd go ice skating and if the DJ wasn't there they had a tape of pre recorded tunes with like 4 seasons rascals, and this was one of the tunes. it was pretty cool.
When I first heard it I thought he was a Brother. His voice is so soulfull. I come back and listen to this song at least monthly. Born 1961 and this was normal.
+dollars2bemade it's true...not until Rick Astley did such a white guy have such a "black" voice (absolutely no disrespect intended!)...on the "K-Tel" album from way back, they even a "Tee Set" picture on the inside, being three black men in front of three keyboards! LOL!
+Rebel remembers hearing this on my transistor radio and i was 12 too....thought I was way too cool to NOT be a teenager ....lol....reminds me of how fun my youth was...and still is in my dreams! Cheers
Rebel I often wonder if "going back" for me is a good idea....lol....I'm completely satisfied with my memories AND I remember wanting to sing this to a certain pony-tailed girl in class and going back in time she STILL might not want me singing to her..Smiles & Cheers
Was taking French at school when this song came out in the Sixties or was this 1970. Anyway this song stuck in my brain forever but the French I learned didnt
When this song was on the charts I was in grade 7. Because of his gravelly voice I thought it was an older man singing and now I see this video I laugh
"For the man after him waits here". It took me awhile to understand what he meant by saying that. He is referring to himself in third person, the next guy his "belle amie" dates would be waiting there for an infinite time.
I Remember this one when I was four, it was going through my mind since, I rediscovered it years ago. A one hit wonder, but its marks time for me....... thanks tu utube u all try faster and faster to nowhere ds 2525
This version has either been enhanced electronically or is an alternate version. I have the original 1969 Colossus LP and it's in mint shape but this sounds different in several areas.

What a querky little song. Strange enough that once you have heard it, it sticks like glue in your mind for years everafter
I love this song from Tee Set, a Netherlands group. Peter Tetteroo had an amazing voice, and he was good looking too.
I was 12 and there was this girl 11 on my paper route that would come outside everyday when I delivered the paper, and we'd talk but I could never tell her how I felt, but this song always makes me think of her.
We will always love and remember you Peter. God bless.

A unique and brilliant sound when it came out.

I always liked this song. It still gets a lot of airplay on local radio. This live version on this set is very cool.

When I first heard it I thought he was a Brother. His voice is so soulfull. I come back and listen to this song at least monthly. Born 1961 and this was normal.
+dollars2bemade I always expected him to be a burly guy with a beard. Pleasantly surprised.

60's in Boston. hell yeah!
Hermoso tema de los 70...
nostalgie
I just mastered this on my 6 piece Tama with voice :0 Remember as a child.....
This song is king compared to the condescending/disgusting rap and hip hop crap we hear today.
+Pauley Pavillion You"re right bro this song just won"t leave me alone
Better than most pop songs of that period
drop dead gorgeous then and now
singer peter tetteroo died a long time ago. he was a child of the sun.

Wonder what happened to them?
I was 16 years old and I was in love with a 20 years old . With not a chance in hell to be loved by her... but it was a magic time.
I was six years old when this song came out

Phil Shaffer No. His girl friend dumped him, but he's happy, because he thinks she'll come back to him. "The man after him waits here."
+Edward Wood I think it has a duel meaning. It could be him or it could be someone else. Either way she will leave the next man and find another.
"Their former lead singer, Peter Tetteroo, died in September 2002 from liver cancer, at the age of 55" Source Wikipedia. How sad

1st heard this riding in a true hot rod (1940 Ford coupe with a 429 cobra jet). I smell the gasoline and the burned rubber, great times to be a kid.
This version has either been enhanced electronically or is an alternate version. I have the original 1969 Colossus LP and it's in mint shape but this sounds different in several areas.
What's the French phrase he's singing? Not the title, but the other phrase. Thanks.
