    Fond memories from a simpler time.

      Good fun this isn't it... very tough when you get down into the cavern type section though, I always used to struggle with the platforming element. Bruce Lee will always be a classic... but Goonies was very tough indeed! As for Conan, I need to get around to that someday hopefully 😇🕹️👌

    I HAD THIS GAME!!!
    The music wasn't too bad, I just liked using the sword on people, good way to release middle school & school frustrations of the late 1980's.

    Looks like a fun puzzle based action platformer. I used to watch Zorro when I was a kid on the family black and white TV. I still remember the theme music, but I think that the sid rendition would drive me bananas after awhile

      Ahhh great memories huh - and yeah, the SID tune was only a pretty short loop so would have driven us all insane watching the video after a while I thought hehe. Great game this, a real decent puzzler 😇🕹👌

    I bought ZORRO for my Commodore 64
    as one of the Americana game tapes
    from a local retro game store in
    Tikkurila, Vantaa (Finland 🇫🇮)
    in the spring 2023 😺👍🕹️.
    And it was so cheap, it only cost 3€ 😹👍.
    The game is as brilliant as BRUCE LEE,
    but it's also freakin' hard 😹.
    Thank you for sharing this video 😺👍🕹️.

    I think this is an underrated little gem. I had lots of fun with it back in the days and the music while being insanely repetitive, instantly takes me back to an easier time in life. Really nice to see this one. Someone else did a video of it but was very negative. I prefer yours ❤

    "Zorroooo, the fox so cunning and freeeeee". I remember giving the bottle to the drunk, and branding the bull, but that's as far as I ever got. I used to love point-and-click games, but I could never get into these collect-and-drop games, even if it was Zorro.

      I clearly remember rolling about laughing when I figured that bouncing on that fat bandito the first time would allow me to reach the higher platforms. Man... the 80s were such simpler times. I miss those days... as for the point & click games, big time here too - as soon as I finally got my Amiga I was off and away with every adventure game you could throw at me. Good memories 😇🕹️👌

      The colours are a little bland and I had trouble seeing in the catacombs without the original CRT TV for some reason... but the gameplay is absolutely awesome. I know theres a lot of walking back and forth, but in the 80s we had so much patience huh. Its hard to believe just how patient I was actually... I recall playing Pirates with my brother and we'd just said that darned ship for around half an hour at times, watching the blue sea rolling by. Ahhh bliss 😇🕹️👌

    I agree that the music is rather repetitive but I remember it changed in the rooms where you collect the money bags. More slow and mysterious and it added a lot to the atmosphere when I played it back then. I love games of this type. Everyone's a Wally was another good puzzle game.

    • @CheekyCommodoreGamer
      @CheekyCommodoreGamer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah you're absolutely right about the music, there was a level change in the catacombs. Arcade style adventures are brilliant on the C64 - you should check our Everyone's A Wally - along with the whole 'Wally Week' franchise on the channel. • @CheekyCommodoreGamer
      @CheekyCommodoreGamer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Absolutely, its a tough game as the bonus points count down pretty quickly after collecting each piece of the puzzle. But if you're not going for the points and take it steady, the game is very do-able with 1 life 😇🕹👌

    • @Syragar
      @Syragar 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CheekyCommodoreGamer Yup! That's the exception. When it's points for competing with someone, that's a different story. Whenever I play any kind of Metroidvania-style games now, I don't go for speed runs... I go more for 100% runs and take it slow. I used to could finish the original Matroid in about 30-45 minutes. I don't care to try for things like that anymore.

    Puzzle games were really hit and miss in the 80s because once you were stuck you were stuck for good. There was no internet to save you, and unless the game was super popular there were no guides at the shop to help you. All you could hope for is maybe a friend at school might figure it out.

    • @CheekyCommodoreGamer

      Spot on there... without the internet, we just had to pull our hair out and keep trying. Just unlocked a memory, a Mega Drive (Genesis) game called "Rings Of Power". It belonged to a friend at school who had already completed it... he let me borrow it before the summer holidays. I got stuck at one part and had to wait a whole 6 weeks until we returned to school to ask him how to get past it hahahaha. Ahhh the memories. Got bless the internet! 😇🕹️👌

    As someone who's adored Robin Hood since I was a very young child I like the idea of Zorro but I didn't become familiar with the character beyond a few TV show reruns until the late 90s.

    • @CheekyCommodoreGamer
      @CheekyCommodoreGamer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Robin Hood was 'the man'! A legendary folklore character and I didn't even mind the Kevin Costner depiction in the - Zorro on the otherhand, like yourself, I'd not really heard of until many years later when Antonio Banderas played him in the movies 😇🕹️👌

    • @roguerifter9724
      @roguerifter9724 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CheekyCommodoreGamer The Kevin Costner Robin Hood was one of two Robin Hood movies my parents owned on VHS with the other being the Erryol Flynn Robin Hood movie from the 1930s. We watched the Flynn movie more often though.
      What's funny is the first Robin Hood book I read was very odd. Maid Marion never actually appeared in it just being mentioned when Robin is hoping to impress her at an archery contest just before he becomes an outlaw. (The incident that made him an outlaw occurred while he was en route to the contest) And it ends with Robin dying. Another thing is its the only version of Robin Hood I can think of where Prince/King John appears and isn't portrayed as a villain. Yes he comes after Robin in the end but Robin provoked him even if he didn't mean to.
      (spoilers)
      King Richard pardoned Robin and made him a noble (The Earl of Huntington I think). After Richard dies Robin asks King John if he can take a vacation to Sherwood. King John says yes but makes him promise to return after a certain amount of time. Not only does Robin not go back he recruits hundreds of men who were supposed to be providing security in the forests and loyal to the king to be his new band of Merry Men. I honestly can't blame King John for being pissed off, or possibly suspecting Robin was planning a rebellion (Historically John's reign did end in a civil war after all. Though I believe this version of Robin died years before the war broke out I imagine the tensions were building so John might have thought Robin was setting out to build his own army)

    Oh yes!! More Datasoft nostalgia! I honestly thought this game had been done by Ron Fortier, it was so similar to Bruce Lee in style! I never quite won this though I came closer then I thought, being stymied after the 2 bells. If I could make a suggestion for an early C64 classic, try Realms of Impossibility, a great single player but FANTASTIC 2 player action 2.5d maze game for the 64 with another legendary theme song.
