    Made the same mistake with the Prinsu, then the brackets would pop off. Ours is sitting in a pile in the garage, got a Frontrunner roof rack and it works amazingly well. Keep on a rockin!

      I actually sold mine. Wasn’t using it for its purpose and I actually like the slick look. I got it to mount a rooftop tent but later found out the GFC ones have a gutter mount so I wouldn’t need the rack anyways

    Consider a capable off-road tent trailer. You will quickly find that having to tear down your tent every time you want to move the vehicle sucks, big time. Go clam-shell if you're set on a roof-top, and get a light one. You really do feel that weight up there in off-camber situations. Very clean truck, though. Congratulations on the acquisition.

      Thank you! I appreciate the recommendations. Definitely will go clam shell route.

      @@shootandcruise You bet, man. How are your brakes? 80s are notorious for a soft pedal and less-than-stellar braking but you may have gotten lucky with yours. It's a pretty easy fix.

      @@timarcher4863 mine feel really soft, but I don’t ever really put myself in a situation to have to slam on the breaks. I probably should add that to the list

    Awesome work. The welding on the rack is definitely disappointing. Hopefully the manufacturer doesn't skimp out and change how they are manufactured.

      @shootandcruise  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I agree. If I knew how to weld, it’d be a simple fix

  • @michaelganter8952
    @michaelganter8952 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Before you commit to a roof top tent, try an awning room tent. I say this because it’s a very inexpensive way to have shelter and a tent if you’re out and about with the family. I then you can maximize your camping storage from there.
    If you’re serious, have a plan for the entire family. I would say recovery, shelter and storage should be maximized for everyone as a whole. Way too many people start out with platforms before they even do anything. Have a realistic game plan and prioritize things from there.

      I agree. I sold it to someone. Wasn’t using it and found out GFC makes mounts that go directly to the gutter for RTTs (which was my whole purpose of buying a roof rack)

Plus he didn’t drive this rig in hard terrains. When i find the time im gonna have to do the same. See what I need to replace for being a 23-year old rig.
