Love how a symbol can be so personal yet mean a completely different thing to another something innate in us which passed down through ancient ancestors x x
Brilliant video, I've actually come back to this more than once because the explation is so good. Are there any other thinkers besides Jung you would recommend who have similar ideas about symbols?
Ah no way Dave that's awesome. Hmm aside from Jung...there's obviously Joseph Campbell who would have been heavily inspired by Jung. And there's Erich Neumann who was a Jungian and wrote a fantastic book on the Origins of Consciousness or there's Jordan Peterson's lectures on Maps of Meaning but again these are all in the Jungian tree. Highly recommended though if you've looking for more of that buzz!
Haha I'll think about it. I mean I would love to do an episode on Robert Bly's reading of Iron John. I think once I hit a Jungian groove I'll be diving in a lot more. It'd be interesting to look at old favourites like Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood 🤔

Freud reduced people to nothing more than Carnal Desires . Love from India ❤️❤️

@@TheLivingPhilosophy Cool, I've looked into those except for Neumann so shall check him out, many thanks :)
@@davegreencomedy his book is a long one but it's amazing. Jung wrote the foreword and he said that this was the book he wish he could have written
speaking of jung, could you make a video about active imagination?
It's on the list Slick though we'll see when it'll come up
Brilliant! But how to transcend the realm of signs and symbols and abide in the realm of non-abiding in signs and symbols?
Pffft good question you might want to ask Jed McKenna he's more qualified to answer that kind of question 😂 One thing's for sure though - not fun
👏👏👏
Ooo and those blue eyes I love 🫢
James, please do more fairytales
