I made this video for people having trouble getting the game to work. Also...I just really wanted to play this awesome game again. Now I want jelly...and toast.

The reason it doesn't work on edge is because the collision doesn't work, even between pixels of the same object, making mario shrink. That's because Edge has issues with WebGL (which is needed to run Jelly Mario).
might even have to do with chromium engine

I've had trouble with Chrome and WebGL before. Things complaining that it is not activated.
As someone who's made physics sims like this before, Mario collapsing into a ball like that gives me PTSD. Things like these are an absolute *nightmare* to work with and make

I had no idea Jelly Mario actually performed like this. I played this game on Microsoft edge and WAS able to beat it after many, many tries. The fact that there is no collision in that version meant I was free to move Mario as I pleased, but had to be VERY careful with the sensitivity and timing of his movement (turning it into more of a rhythm game than a goofy platformer). Try to imagine the cape feather in SMW, but if your timing and inputs are off, you curl into a ball and explode.

It's been a while since this video was uploaded, but as a programmer myself, it looks kind the game was having trouble with floating point numbers (numbers with decimals) not being what the collision functions were designed for so certain checks wouldn't trigger as intended. It's kind of strange when things like that happen because things like floating point math is usually standardized between various browsers with external tools like webGL.

It's also weird that it's Chromium edge specifically, and not also chrome, even though they should both be using the same engine under the hood

1:39 I should note that it works fine in older versions of Microsoft Edge that aren't built on Chromium (Basically, any version released before the icon redesign will work.)

@@10meisterballe Old Edge? It's included in Windows 10 releases before 20H2, where Chromium Edge is installed by default, but versions 1803 and later will update Edge through Windows Update, so recommended builds are from RTM to 1709 (Fall Creators Update)

the reason why mario is so slow on Chrome is because you need to have enabled "hardware acceleration" in the system setting of the chrome browser.
the problem I think edge has is that collisions aren’t working, that’s why he not only merges with himself (essentially turning him into a ball) but falls through the floor as well

Ah yes, browser incompatibility. As a JS gamedev myself, I can say fairly confidently that making sure that your already high-effort game (not that I know much about high-effort games lol) works on every major browser is a huge pain, since a lot of features are missing or work screwed sideways, even if they're part of the W3C standard.
This goddamn web development ecosystem..
The castle took me a million tries because I didn't realize they kept moving, I thought that they remained floppy and if they went down you had missed your chance to get past them 🤣

Actually, at 4:40 you can go though the little gap in the corner and skip that part. It takes some practice but once you know how to do it it's easy.

If jelly mario had co-op i feel like player 2 would be controlled with wasd and player 1 will be controlled with arrow keys

i think it would be extremely hard, because both players would always bump against each other and kill each other at this point.
i know what you think. "this is the point of fun and challenge", but on the other hand it can be extremely frustrating. and also me thinking:

With enough dedication, in 2-2 you can squeeze through any corners connected to the ceiling, and float to the end.
I had this game called mini motor racing WRT it keeps spitting out error codes i wish it worked it had so many good elements i just wish it still worked

When I started jelly mario everything started going in the bottom left corner. The only thing that wasn't blown to smithereens was a part of the jelly mario logo and some of the ground.

Happy moment... the internet is back... even better happy moment hearing Darby laugh. makes me feel so much better, having real dark day lately and it hasn't helped by the fact that where i am staying at the moment has crappy WIFI. @@BlueTelevisionGames if you're someone who really knows a lot about jelly Mario then you should know that if Mario gets hurt by something like a goomba or if he falls off the map then jelly Mario would just break into pieces he would just become the building blocks that make up himself in the original game but you would only know that if you have played jelly more before and so far I played the original super Mario Bros and I know nothing about super Mario jelly Bros because I have a Google tablet I can't really find it

this game is an HTML 5 & JavaScript game And the rendering engines are blink and V8 for the two browsers that had problems End it must be some implementation in those engines that cause these weird errors

the game still works, it most likely your usage like if another game is open on your browser, close it and refresh jelly mario,, then it will work
actually i was wrong it stopped working for me maybe firefox on linux will be the answer

I found 2 funny glitches 1: Messed Up Mario: Just simply bang mario against a hard wall (title screen or ground section of 1-2) 2: Mario In The Floor: Go to the end of a wall then get Mario upside down then simply jump. Mario will go into the floor. (for funniest results, go to ground section of 1-2).

Edit: chrome is fast with the same effects of edge :(
Note: you can turn on hardware accelleration and it should work on chrome
