I finally understand why the older generation in Hong Kong kept saying American soldiers on holiday were crazy. Because you knew that might be the last R&R.

I have always loved the iconic Star Ferry. I remember always checking out the name and year of manufacture of the boat on each crossing I used to make when I was a child.
Great to look at Hong Kong on film. I was stationed there for 2 years with The Black Watch. Met quite a few American Navy guys there as well as Aussies. Its an eye opener for a young lad as I was at the time. Many thanks Buddie.

I was born in Hong Kong in 1950 and left for the U.S. in 1969. These films bring back some really fond memories.
