    Clicked on this video thinking this would be a celebration of how well the film has done.

      We didn’t say celebration in title. We take the film through the wringer but acknowledge it’s more popular now more then ever.

    Saw it last night, I know the prequels are mixed, but it's so fun to see the duel of the fates in theaters. I grew up during the prequels era. There's only 6 star wars films.

    I remember going to see this originally. Everyone was in Cosplay with their Light Sabers ready for the return of Star Wars. When I left, there were tons of broken Light Sabers stuffed in the trash and Cosplay costumes thrown on the floor. It was so badly received, that the fans just quit right there and then.

    It's ironic that Phantom Menace is now considered a great piece of canon in the Star Wars lore. But I totally get it... the new films made today are such a drop-off in quality, that this has been risen from the mire. It's a fact: even a small light will shine in darkness

    Here’s the thing Rob doesn’t understand. George Lucas does know how to make movies for children. That’s why they are still popular now. The kids that loved the prequels have grown up and they are now taking their children to see this film. I saw way more kids in the cinema screening last night, than I did when I went to see The Rise of Skywalker. Those sequels will never have a renaissance like the prequels.

    When I saw the movie in 1999, I really hated it, especially Jar Jar and I only watched it once. So....21 years later I re-watched it and I just loved it so much and I have watched it so many times. I really can't explain it. It is now so close to my heart ♥ . By the way, I didn't watch the animated Clone Wars a year later so watching the Clone Wars had nothing to do with me loving it. I now even adore Jar Jar. I was a big time OT purist fan, seeing Star Wars as a 9 year old in 1977, but for some reason, I now prefer the PT much more than the OT, despite the many flaws with it, the cringy acting and not so good dialogue. As I said I can't explain why I feel this way loving the PT more than the OT...perhaps I see movies differently now than I did when I was younger. I I even love the CG now. It grew on me like fine wine. The PT has the star wars magic, soul and essence.

      if you remember, as I do, back in '77 many critics and even Guiness critique the dialogue and acting of the film!

    What really grabbed my attention with the prequels was the world building, each planet was distinct, and you could tell. The differences between the cultures and styles, as well as the alien variety, really blew me. Dialogue does not do it justice, for sure, and there are other flaws for sure, but it has its charms, which is more than I can say for the sequel trilogy.

    I honestly can't stand this film but was of the original kids who saw the first Star Wars back in 1977. That being said, a friend of mine 20 years older than me LOVES the Phantom Menace --- and the rest of the prequels. I think that the EU added to his love of the prequels and he just was so happy to see anything Star Wars back on the silver screen again. Good to know that some folk enjoyed this in the same way I enjoyed A New Hope. Muchas Gracias, Paulie.

    It’s cool that Star Wars did well this weekend. I’m happy in that respect. That film was probably the biggest disappointment I’ve ever had in a theater when it came out. I even left halfway when I saw it in 3d. I want to like it more than I do, but I don’t. Guess that’s the Gen X in me lol. But I do live Duel of the Fates.

    CG was still relatively new then and George Lucas helped take that to the next level. I think we forget that CG in film was risky back then and far too often went wonky AF. Much like OG Star Wars, this was ahead of it's time for everything he integrated into the visuals and story. It was alot, but so much of it was done so well, even if parts were not seamless at times or somewhat flawed in their execution. The movie over all was exiting and broke new ground in several areas for the franchise. It was a step forward, unlike the prequels that did nothing but nostalgia bait and retcon everything with political feminism, woke politics and pathetically disingenuous fanfiction writing with no coherent vision whatsoever.

    • @LatinoSlant
      @LatinoSlant  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can't totally agree with you on the movie being exciting. Technically broke ground yes, but even then that year Matrix really broke ground and even won over TPM, Oscars for their visuals. The story was fine but the acting and dialogue was terrible for a majority of the film.
