I guess I'm a vocal nerd. I love to challenge myself. You really have to just go for it, especially if you like the song. Plus I love to read up and research singers. There's so much to learn.
wow, dear Victoria..hugs and happy good eve! Wow, say, I just realized that THAT is what I have started doing--- collecting a variety of songs that have various ways to give challenges, YET are songs that I enjoy... some that I knew, and wished I could sing, and MANY that I NEVER heard of, but picked due to out of date copyrights...and then I started exploring 🙃🙂... I am loving this adventure...so far I am testing each song to get an idea how I can use them.. then, this winter I am going through them, by inspiration and perfecting them two by two...🥰 .. having fun with each goal.. yet remembering to add some challenge to add some high notes along the way... it was SO GOOD to hear this explained here!
Only I know how eagerly I wait for your videos 😍! Yet another informative amazing video! Making songs into exercises is really a very good way of improving! And that last point "never stop growing as a singer" was really nice! Thank you for the video❤
Excellent advice Victoria... Thank you ☘ I am currently working on two songs , both from different genres. I will be performing for Christmas concert . I notice when I have a performance, I make extra effort with practice. I love singing .. I do like to get feedback from family and friends . Singing to the four walls is not fun . The storytelling is the connection to your audience
I usually sing pop. And sometimes disney and broadway songs like "Wicked" songs. I'm a tenor whose voice ranges from c3 to c5 and very rarely goes till d5. What song do you think will be challenging to me?
I have a problem to find interesting songs in pitch F2 - E#4 for my voice (comfortable chest voice), ( E4/F4 starts my passagio), most of my favourite songs are an octave higher. (Famele alto songs) So generally i am singing it an octave lower. Please, could you suggest me where i can find something available in this lower range? :)
Hey Vici! It's always wonderful to watch your videos.. Just a quick update on my progress: I can sing better! Haha. I mean that thanks to you, now I'm able to sing with more freedom. I have vibrato, range getting wider. But I do struggle with higher notes. I don't break, but my voice sounds almost squeezed. Sometimes shaking even. Is it the breath support, carrying power, or the vocal folds?? What do you think?
Victoria, A question please. Do you find that challenging songs remain challenging, even though you've gotten to where you're singing them well? Some songs seem to remain a challenge. By that I mean they are just plain tough and demanding by nature ..lol!
I thought I chose an easy song for my voice :(. I'm taking vocal lessons at my college. Only have one song, "people help the people," Birdy. I can match pitch, but I have no emotion with the song, and sometimes it doesn't sound like im singing at all even though im trying. I'm going to keep trying; if I don't get better with all the practice, I will have to realize I love music and have an ear for it but don't sound pretty myself.
I would be honest with your teacher, if you haven’t already. I encourage you to stick with it. Progress can take time, but make sure you are getting good training.
I still need help with thinning out my voice, how to make tiny sounds. I'm not able to produce small sounds 😪 Always carry too much weight. There is no small or tiny pitch coming out of my mouth 🙄it is stuck somewhere.

Hi Mara! Gee, it could be any of those things. Watch the videos in my playlist on the Tight Throat and also on Better High Notes.

Do you offer private vocal lessons, and can you teach pop music?

Oh, sure! Nothing unusual about that, lol! It just means that we need to keep up with our technique if we want to sing those hard songs.
@@Victoria-Victorious Thank you.
"Not too challenging:" Ah, no Satisfied or Defying Gravity then. :)
Maybe for your challenging song? 😊
I am 14 years old and I sing everyday but I can’t seem to get anywhere 😭😭I have tried different styles and I can’t 😭
Great!
Thank you!

I recommend going back and reviewing my playlist on Mixed Voice. Start with the speaking exercises and sirens.
Can you make a video on how can I have a unique singing style. I hope you notice me. Thank you!
