    I used to hide behind the couch as a kid, when Barbara Kellerman's characters (Green Lady, White Witch, Old Hag) got angry. So damn scary. The White Witch doesn't scare me anymore, but I get the chills everytime i see the Lady of the Green Kirtle / Green Lady. I live in Norway, and they always used to broadcast the BBC series during the Christmas Holiday during the early 90's. Good memories. Was up every morning at 09:30 eating christmas candy and watching this. Great memories.

    All those who said the snake was scary when you were little, I sympathize entirely. When I was really little, it seriously scared me . Hard to believe now. Still am fond of this series. I love the design of the Underworld and the acting is so lovely sometimes. Tom Baker is wonderful, and some people find the witch hammy but I've always liked her. Whoever said there were Shakespearean/theatrical overtones nailed it. I guess you either like that or don't.

    The Same actress plays The Lady mostly because of budget limitations. There is some hint that she might be related to The Witch - In PC they say "a witch never really dies" and in SC they point out "they're the same breed (i.e. northern witches)" . I like to think that Lewis was not done with Narnia because he left some loose ends to be explained (like I never accepted Susan's end after all once queen of Narnia, always queen of damn NARNIA

    Agree. When the cult of personality we collectively give actors takes precedence over the stories they are serving ... it's almost like succumbing to the Green Lady's spell! :) Denying the original truths in the story. The books already prove that these stories resonate with audiences, because they speak of our collective internal world of love, truth, joy and honesty. Make a film from that same place, and you'll have the audience you desire to pay for it's making and then some. :)

David Magee has chosen as the Screenwriter for the film, he was Oscar nominated for 'Finding Neverland' and 'Life of Pie', then soon after they Announced that they want a name for the lady of the green Kirtle. Over a year ago, Mark Gordon said it's going to be a 'Brand new franchise'. The film has funding, the film will be distributed by Sony and Entertainment One and it will be financed by Tristar and Eone. Douglas Gresham hopes to start Pre-production early this year. • @80sDude990
      @80sDude990 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adapted from CS Lewis is more like it. Where was the Green Lady’s mandolin type instrument? If she’d thrown green powder on the fire, then why have it emanate from her hands as vapour, instead of the slow, monotonous thrumming? And she knocks out Puddleglum with a wicked spell, for no apparent reason. If he was supposed to stamp out the fire, then why did he put his hand in it, crying, “Aslan! Aslan!” Also in the book, Prince Rilian struggled a lot more with the serpent, as it flung its coils around him, he narrowly escaped having his sword arm pinioned to his side. Excellent swordsmanship! Puddleglum and Eustace also helped Rilian with chopping off the snake’s head, which he’d managed to catch with his free hand. Top survival instincts! Although the triumph of good over evil was great, the killing of the snake/witch was too easy.

    • @80sDude990
      @80sDude990 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That said it was sharper and better realised than in the book, when the Green Lady wanted to know who had destroyed the Silver Chair, that Prince Rilian didn’t actually own up, he just said there would be no more need of that chair. Of course in this adaptation we have, “Which one of you three, HAS DAAAARRRRED TO DESTROY THE SILVER CHAIR?!!” To which Rilian replies, “I did”. Unfortunately when the lady then laughs, especially after chilling them all to the bone with her fury, it’s hard to keep a straight face.

    Exactly. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they do the same thing (use the same actress who played the white witch) for the new version of The Silver Chair.

    I have to agree that Green Lady is very funny! she reminds me of Faye Dunaway in Mommie Dearest! VERY OVER DRAMATIC AND CAMPY! LOL!

    @BebhinnWebhinn They might make a cameo appearance, e.g. Eustace might read a letter from Lucy and Georgie might voiceover, or we might see Lucy writing a letter to him; things like that. Just little things and they might appear that way, but no, they're only in LWW, PC and VODT

  • @finrodbrs

    @Jamestopboy Well, the characters are also in Horse and His Boy and The Last Battle. So the actors may return for those movies.

    @finrodbrs Yeah, I know, but in The Horse and His Boy it is the OLDER actors from the end where they hunt the stag, so it won't be the actors we have now, it'll be the actors from the end of that one.

    Who do you think they could've gotten for Puddleglum, Jill, the Lady of the Green Kridle and Rillian if they'd done the Silver Chair in the Chronicles of Narnia movie series from about 10 years ago? And who do you think would make a good voice for the owl?

  • @Jamestopboy

    @Jamestopboy Not necessarily. By the time they get to Horse and his Boy, the younger actors may have grown up. It's not a definite thing but it's possible.

    I think people over-associate his intention that EVERYTHING he says is a comment ON religion. I think it's more about spirituality, which unfortunately or no, has evolved to be a different quantity for some people in the world. I think we begin to interpret things based on what others have said or written and observed ... but perhaps one can also think of it that the Bible and this story ... are all reflections of the Universe in which they exist. It's all about knowing experience. Awareness. :)
