    As someone who plays Tyranids and Deathwatch.. Tyranids are NOT the worst army currently. Fun vid

    funny how a lot say custodes are done after the nerfs and not playable.
    what i see is Custodes still winning, but being more balanced then before.

      Not playable, certainly not. Nerfed? Yes. Balanced? I don't think so. It's hard to win with Custodes given how expensive units are+not so much of good rules. Heck Shield Host is the only Detachment rule out of all the factions that's a one off thing then it's done. Talons once the Sisters of Silence area dead you have no detachment rule to use. Auric Champion there's no Battle Tactic and only targets Character models not Units unfortunately and then there's the Sisters of Silence Detachment nobody wants to talk about. With that being said, people have been trying to find how to work things with them. They also dropped off the face of the earth probably cause of people putting them on the side and playing other factions. Just like when they got nerfed from 1x10 to 1x5 and when they couldn't do FNP against Dev Wounds.

    Tyranids needed more help than a few minor points changes. Their attacks just feel so weak compared to other armies. Strength 9 weapons are laughable. They either need more strength on some weapons or points need to come down even more. Some larger monsters are insanely over costed. A Hive Tyrant is 15 points more than a Repulsor Executioner. A Norn Emissary is 275 points with strength 9 melee weapons (ridiculous). Hive Tyrant 200 points with strength 12 weapons is such a no brainer change, Trygon should be 150 points. Norn Emissary 250 points with higher strength melee

    Hey Craig! Been watching your channel a long time and it inspired me in part to start my own Tyranid Channel about 6 months ago. Was wondering if you frequent the Tyranid Discord at all?     Interesting game, I know Craig isnt a fan of tyrant guard - but if he dropped deathleaper a squad could help protect swarm lord from getting sniped

    I play tyranids since 2nd edition and picked up custodes in 8th.
    With the Psychophages drop in points, I've been frantically painting Pyrovores!
    As always, great battle report!!! Custodes are still powerful!! The Emperor protects!

    The Tyranids' melee seems so weak...
    Many attacks but which then inflict very few losses, added to the fact that they are too fragile as the charging units are eliminated in the same turn only with the attacks in response.
    this is really sad

    also, regarding devestating wounds. GW said this on their website:
    "The core rules include a variety of other weapon abilities, which tie together similar effects found across factions. Weapons that shredded through armour on lucky rolls can now share the Devastating Wounds ability instead. This allows them to dish out mortal wounds on a Critical Wound - that’s an unmodified Wound roll of 6."
    this is a clear RAI guide to treat devestating as mortals. No, you cannot make any saves, but a feel no pain is not a save, it instead mitigates the damage after the save phase. the rules commentary lays this out explicitly, devastating wounds are mortal wounds, and you can use FNP for mortal wounds
    that's the way we play it, anyway. pretty dumb otherwise, as devastating wounds become the most powerful keyword on the table.

I just came across a video on 6 Plus Plus gaming's TH-cam channel with an interview of Michael de la Torre regarding his unorthodox assimilation swarm list which he's had great success with featuring a sporocyst(!), six tyrant guards and two psychophages.     This is by far Connor’s best list! Just wish instead of the 2 man Allarus he had a couple more sister units to be able to play for the fnp more. Also witchseekers can cause battle shock so would love to see some of them

    This was an informative battle to watch. I play both armies. Nids suffer from the anti tank meta.So a big monster list will always suffer. At first I was angry at the custodes nerfs. However pre nerf, fighting a custodes army was not much fun for my opponent.To be honest they did need nerfing. Custodes are still a strong army as seen in this battle. Good game to you both.

    That is incorrect. You can make a stratagem free if you can apply the modification to the cost to "both targets." See "Modifying the a Stratagem's CP Cost." The Custodes strat, however can't be made free for both so you cannot modify the cost to 0.
    (This does come up all the time in Invasion Fleet to the Nids benefit tho 🥰)

    I had lots of succes against custodes with vanguard. Even before the codex. Exocrine and maleceptor are just very efficient against dudes with three hp. And jamming them in with 6 units turn one makes it VERY hard for the slow boys get to the objectives. Redeploy after roll of for first turn is just bonkers strong.

    Tyranid warriors into a unit of wardens with blade champion is dead on arrival. If the wardens pop 4+ fnp the warriors will struggle to kill even two of them. The blade champion will on average kill most of the warriors on the backswing by himself. Same goes for meganobz, no use in charging them while they still have their fnp.

    Instinctive Defence is the best enhancement in the detachment, maybe the whole book. I stick it on a squad of melee Warriors behind a wall and if the enemy wants to charge my gaunts on the objective, I'm at the very least taking a chunk out of them.

      you fist have to put it on a prime then put it with the warriors, then the warriors also have to be within 6” of a harvester, and finally you have to make your charge roll. It feels like a ton of points and work just to baby sit a unit that will most likely get shot off the board before it ever sees combat.

      @@gozolve You gotta get more terrain if you're having that problem. 6"+ an advance with the prime in the back getting you further should be able to get you to a wall. I don't know what the sweet amount is but you should have multiple harvesters between your home objective and a central point. Get termagants on an objective and you can even use your reactive move to help assist your warriors charging in. Pyrovores also don't like being charged. Just get next to a wall near an objective and as per anything in the detachment, get your harvesters on the points.

      @Ohfishyfishyfish it's not the warriors that I'm talking about getting shot off the table.(they are good at that as well though) it's the gaunts. Why charge them at all when they die to any shooting.

      @@gozolve I use every way to mitigate gaunts getting killed. Gaunts can tail back a long way, all the way back to some venomthropes providing stealth and cover. Additionally, a nearby Psychophage can help keep a few more alive. If someone wants to dedicate all of their shooting into 20 gaunts, then that's fine. If they don't kill them outright, you can get 3+d3+3 back with a Tervigon. Or take a 2nd unit of Termagants as well. The point of the enhancement is they can't finish you off in combat and move onto the objective without risking getting sliced by strikes-first warriors.

    So I might be overthinking this, but I thought you needed to be eligible to shoot to cleanse . Neurolictor doesn't have a shooting profile. So doesn't that mean it can't cleanse because it can't shoot

      A unit is eligible to shoot even if it doesn't have a shooting weapon.

      From the rules commentary: "Eligible to Shoot (when not equipped with ranged weapons): Unless a unit Advanced or Fell Back this turn or is Locked in Combat, it is eligible to shoot, even if no models in that unit are equipped with ranged weapons. This means that such units can be selected for any rules that require you to select a unit that is eligible to shoot."
      It is a bit of a confusing rule at first, but something with no shooting profile can still be "eligible to shoot in the shooting phase," which is all that's needed to do Cleanse. They don't have to be "able" to shoot, just "eligible." It's confusing enough that it needed to be FAQ'd.

    1:29:23Too bad your hive tyrant can't get fight first and a free heroic intervention damn I wish there was a enhancement for 15pts that did that. To bad that would just be broken... Well maybe not he is not that though two well aimed Las cannons can fail your hive tyrant. Wish he could get some kinda royal guard to take those pesky auto kill hits for him. Hmmm and if they were infantry you could brim them back when ever anything happened game state wise. Making it very hard to decide your army in one phase. Plus it's so satisfying to blender a full marine block cause they wanted to snipe a nurolictor in combat. Remember the hive tyrant can technically charge on your opponents turn. Making it so they can't get away from him on your turn. That's 12 twin linked damage three bs to the max hits and 8 normal b*tch slaps with his extra attacks. Making his dam output nearly twice that of the swarm lord. Not to mention he will always get to hit your opponents before they hit you! So meny units can get critically wounded before even touching one of his royal guard. Just to have the last dude in your crew get morphed into another one

      I really feel like the nids would become more efficient at consuming these armies! They evolve with each world and we’re deep into 10th edition…. They’ve ravaged so many of the emperors systems, as well as armies that are great astartes opponents…. Even if they aren’t as smart (which I wager they would be) they would at least see the power armor as amazing chitinous protection. With enough consumed it would become a component to the spawning vats and incorporated into nids as they are created 🤷‍♂️

      You have full rerolls, meaning you can reroll just misses. It's like reroll 1s but better.

      You have the option to reroll everything, like if you're fishing for 6s for dev wounds. Normally though, you just reroll the misses

    dude. I know nids are terrible this edition, but you really need to start enjoying losing. At the moment, these videos are getting more and more depressing at the end.
