Is the Grapple Too Much? Maybe, but It’s Working! 😎

  • This will be the last of my first cutting this year. We finally got my grapple hooked up to use it in time. It’s a lot of weight on the 4000, but she’s working!

I've been using the same accumulator/grapple as a solo operation since 2018. I can do a max of about 300 bales in a day with it, but I've only got one tractor and myself out there. That's both good and bad I guess, but workers are hard to find.

I'm from Lebanon, VA. That dealer went out of business many years ago. Probably early to mid 90s if I had to guess.

That must have taken awhile to align those individual bales into a set for the grapple. I would suggest a bale sledge matched to the grapple it would improve your efficiency.

Very good young man I have operated cranes over the years and sometimes I had to push the limits but you try to accomplish your goals without hurting any one so what I called it was a calculated risk and I don’t recommend to do it but if you find yourself in that position you just make sure that worst case scenario no one gets hurt but I clicked on your video because my Uncle Walter had the same setup as you have except he had a 5000 on the accumulator so I enjoyed my time on his farm and I am glad that I saw your TH-cam video Carry on 😀🇨🇦

Was a learning curve running my grapple the first time, but being a 1 man operation it really saves the ole back ha ha

I would have, but there was a big ditch on each side, just think of a small strip because that’s what it was

Good looking hay, glad the grapple works for what you need it for, even if it is just a temporary thing. Like you said, you didn't have to handle 200 bales so that's a start!

I have a 4000 that is a twin to that with a 776B loader and that would be a handful for sure. Cool video.

Hook an accumulator to the back of the baler and it will drop the bales in 10 bale bundles. You could load 100 bales in minutes with the grapple.

I have a grapple just like yours.
I started out renting a skid steer to use on my grapple.
    They work perfect.
    For $300 a day rent i can't buy one..

Carry your accumulator closer to the ground with it level about a foot off the ground you will be able to line up with your trailer pull up close to trailer with it lowered stop and raise it drive forward with it level and you will be able to place it lot easier looks like you need to put some weight on the rear of tractor maybe an implement of some kind on your three point hitch

Is your tractor strong enough for that loader grapple, doesnt look to have strong enough hydraulics.

It would be faster to buck the bailer and stack them by hand the old fashioned way

It would be, but I’m a one man crew sometimes. Hard to drive the baler and ride the wagon.

Must be the hydraulic pump on the 4000, we had a farmhand grapple and a Zetor 4011,played with it, then a 62hp International 475, similar in weight and dimensions to a 4000 and it played with the grapple, try a pressure test on your pump before spending any money, the 4000’s are a fantastic tractor.
