I'm going to wait on Deathsmiles 1+2, but only really because you've singlehandedly helped me decide on loads and loads of shmups already. My Switch is very nearly a shmup machine at this point 😄
I'm waiting on deathsmiles to go on an eshop sale, same as you, that decision has helped me buy other Shmups (all the Cave releases, Cotton Reboot, Raiden IV, a good few hamster releases on Switch and Battle Garegga, Ketsui and ESPrade on PS4). Hoping Cotton Rock n Roll is getting a European release this year.
Once again, I very much appreciate the quality and time you put into this year end review. I'm a big fan of all your reviews. I wish I had time to play all of them ;-(. Hope to see more of your videos in 2022. (BTW, some of the 2022 releases are available on Playasis - Yurukill, which I had not heard of, is particularly interesting.)
This video makes me realize I bought more great shmups this year then I will ever get to play. I also forgot about a lot of great shmups that were released. Time to update the wishlist.
Thanks for all the great content this last year. It was a really good year for shmups on switch. Next year looks promising, lots of cool stuff you listed I've never got to play so it will be exciting.
Great year in review in what has been an amazing year for shmups on switch, some good stuff to look forward to in 2022 too. Thanks for all the reviews and I look forward to your future videos. Happy new year!!
Great recap, some things I missed, some things I did see that didn't catch my interest before but now I want to check out (Raging Blasters), and some things that I wish someone would hurry up and put out physical versions for (Espgaluda II, DDPDFK).
Illveo swamp looks interesting you should do a review on it and if not say if it’s good or not in a short reply. I’ve seen it and the presentation looks really cool but I’m a bit hesitant since there are so many good shmups I might want to save up for other ones. Thanks for the list, definitely a year my wallet won’t forget
It has been a beautiful year! I hope in the next will also be released: Never Awake, Moon Dancer, Pocky & Rocky Reshrined and more games ported by LiveWire! I'm looking forward also to the Astro City Mini V because is dedicated to glorious vertical shmups from the past!
I'm really looking forward to that too. When I first saw the lineup, I thought it was just someone's wishlist for the original Astro City Mini - it just seemed too good to be true!
I think I'll wait till it gets localized. I enjoyed playing it, but I just felt there was too much I was missing to give it a fair review given my fairly rudimentary Japanese skills.
Well, Deathsmiles is the easiest in its original form. But Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu, Mushihimesama, ESP Ra.De. and Espgaluda II all have very accessible but still fun novice modes. DFK also has some options, like autobombs, that can make the arcade game a lot easier too. I'd say Deathsmiles is still probably your best bet, followed by Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu.
Aleste Branch, Senjin Aleste, and Sol Cresta are my primary targets for next year, hopefully.

Cannot wait to see you review cotton rock ‘n’ roll
Thank you for posting this. I had no idea some of these existed or are coming. Much appreciated!

Thanks for all the fantastic content. Have a happy new year!
Same to you!
Nice compilation my guy! It was an awesome year and I am definitely looking forward to those upcoming games!
For shmups at least it was a stand out year.
Thanks for the content i really appreciate your commentary on every game.
Great overview! For the next one extra info about the review rating and physical release availability would be greatly appreciated.

2021 made Switch a bigger SHMUP BEAST with those CAVE releases!
YEAH!
Great summary of a great year for shmups. Cheers and happy new year!
Xexexe is the Japanese title. You can find the game easily in North America as "Orius" as part of the Arcade Archives collection.

I'd like to do one, but I think I'll wait till it gets localized. Too much I'm missing out on playing in Japanese to give it a fair assesssment.
It's Remake Of Gameboy Advance Game Robotech: The Macross Saga !

Hellooooo, do you plan on reviewing Illvelo Swamp ? Looks very interesting and "different".

I presume Darius Cozmic Revelation is both the digital collections, G-Darius HD, and Darius Burst Another Chronicles EX+?
Darius Cozmic Revelation is G-Darius HD and AC, yes.
Is raging blasters on the switch?
Holy f*** rrootage is on switch?! I did NOT see that coming! What's next? Warning forever? 😅
Let’s hope they bring Senjin Alest to the switch :3 gg for your top shmup switch
Whats the Game on 00:49 and 1:03
Thanksssas
What’s the game at 1:02?
That game is: "Is it wrong to try to shoot ´em up girls in a dungeon?"
@@porchka66 did it actually release on switch? It looks like it was slated for last winter but got delayed and I can’t find any more info
Genre noob here... which Cave shmup should I start with?!
