Very helpful video and commentary. Thank you. We have to make adjustments as both they and we age. More cuddle time is very important.

Old video... but one good suggestion is make sure the senior dachshund has a bed that is firm but comfortable. Beds that are too soft or too thin, are less of an issue when younger, but as they age, they need that better bed. I noticed my senior dachshund was scratching a bit more to fluff or build up her bed as she aged so moved to a thicker firmer bed, which she seems to find more comfortable. Also avoid beds that have raised edges or 3 sided, have found that a big larger, flat pad is much easier for my older dachshund to enter and exit from. A small blanket or even an old towel, on the flat bed lets them create a comfort layer as they desire, or at times to sleep under when they want.

That's a great suggestion for senior dachshunds. Thank you.

Hi there, thanks for your comment. You both have been together for a long time, that is a wonderful bond. Yes, sometimes there is an odor as doxies age. If you are concerned about the odor though, let your vet know. They can tell you if it can be treated. If it is related to old age though, it may stick around.
