--------
Former NBA player Rex Chapman recently discussed his early upbringing in sports, being the son of a prominent youth and college basketball coach. Born in Kentucky, Rex grew up closely connected to the sport as a result of his father's professional career. Despite a turbulent relationship with his father and a complicated coaching dynamic, Rex recognizes the platform that his early exposure to competitive basketball provided for his subsequent career in the NBA. Despite being advanced for his age, Chapman acknowledged he had a late growth spurt in High School, boosting his athletic abilities and leading to several honors, including being named "Mr. Basketball of Kentucky," "Gatorade State Player of the Year," and "Associated Press Player of the Year." Reflecting on the irregular route to the NBA, Chapman highlighted that only half of the top talent share his success, emphasizing the importance of consistent play against outstanding talent. - บันเทิง

vlad stay in your lane of culture vulture….. your information about Rex is direct from Wikipedia Word for Word. Pathetic.
I'm from owensboro he's a legend here!
same bro. i always love to hear about my kentucky boys winning
I co-sign this...he is a legend here
Live in Bowling Green, Ky. Big Kentucky fan. Grew up watching Rex at UK.
After the Kentucky loss is perfect timing 🤣
😂😂😂😂😂
Nah fr
Take it when you can get it .. believe me ...we all have a lot more suffering otw...🤓🏀
Reed shepherd all American caliber..
His 3 pointer vs Sonics in the Playoffs is one of the greatest clutch shots in NBA history.
thank you for sending me to that gem 🔥
It wasn't Mario Elie shot tho. Kiss of death.
I remember being a 13yo Sonics fan and watching that when it actually happened.. nearly ripped my heart out
And now he’s gay.
He scored the most points against Jordan and the 96 bulls IMPRESSIVE
Means nothing
Go watch the game and see how many was actually on Jordan..when you use a screen that don't count as 1 on 1 spongebob
@@JamesHall415 if it was so easy why didn't many others do it?
Damn y'all some haters lol. Respect the fact the 96 team was full of great players and to score like that is an avcomplishment
@@MRHIPHOPVEGAN How many points you had hater?
Rex was known as a deadly clutch shooter and streak shooter... Used to love this guy
One of my favorite players ever just a real humble guy all around
I remember I had his basketball card when he was on the Bullets. It was one of the first I’ve ever had…man I’m getting old lol…
Wish I still had those cards honestly. Sure you had many more.
I remember hearing about Rex....when he was in High School, and I am from New York. Chevy Camaro had a car named I-Roc Camaro. He had one named I-Rex.
There was a picture of him in Sports Illustrated where he was laying on top of a sea of recruiting letters. Crazy
Many of the magazines are still in collections in ky ..crazy.. remember the appliance box filled with college letters of interest?
That's a true story saw him driving I-REX
I watched Rex play college basketball and he was phenomenal.
Rex Chapman was cold in high school. Being a McDonald's All American is by no means a guarantee you're a pro.
My high school had pictures and trophies on the wall dedicated to Rex Chapman
It's no guarantee that you make it to the NBA, but there is a high probability you play pro somewhere
@@user-vi5jy6qv4n that's not the ultimate goal though. When those of us in the basketball community use the word pro, we're referring to the league, not overseas man
@toppdogg2815 People in the basketball community refer to the nba as "the league"
@@user-vi5jy6qv4n what was your point in saying this?
my pops went to high school with this cat. Shout outs to Owensboro Kentucky
Rex the Flex, highly underrated.
I remember him being the first white player I ever saw who could dunk really good
Facts. That what he was known for back in the day. I used to watch those Kentucky games back in middle school cause I wanted to him dunk on people. A la Dominique Wilkins.
Huh🤦🏾♂️ Bobby Sura and Brent Barry
@PORTMIAMIMIKE
Those guys were decent, but they came after Rex.
Tom Chambers....
@@PORTMIAMIMIKEHe was before them. Reading comprehension...
Yo.. At 1st sight; I thought he was Scott Van Pelt from ESPN.. My bad bro!! 😆
My HS Varsity coach was hard on me/us AND I still hear him yelling: "Do it again!"! 😆.. while running the option 1 ('star pattern' in practice OR running 3-2 high defense w/ traps!! 🤣)
What stuck with me from my coach to this day was: "The ONLY 'E word' I wanna see you do is EXCUTE!! No Excuses... Do it AGAIN!! 💯😧😆"
S/O Coach Drawhorn!
Rex was a tremendous player..this guy could shoot the lights out..
He is not lying about Derrick Coleman, in high school, he played an AAU game in my City and the players would go up for a lay-up Coleman would snatch their shots out the air. He dunked on them at will.
D.C. couldn’t make a free throw to save his life 🤦🏾♂️
@@k.d.1555 Career free throw percentage was 76.9%. You making up stuff
@@muskegontribune I should’ve been more specific I was talking about high school (66%) and college (68%)
Rex Chapman went to my High School!!!!!
Should be a good interview. Like the variety of guests Vlad gets.
Yeah being a McDonald’s AA doesn’t guarantee you will play in the NBA but it 100% puts you on every teams radar.
Facts and that's part of the battle.
I Always kept my Rex Chapman cards back in the day.. I’m sure I have a small collection just of his from when I was a kid
I remember to his McDonald’s AA game in Detroit. He was my favorite player from that game b/c he won the dunk contest. 😂
Every underrated player.
Rex Chapman really asked if he could cuss on here…he must not watch the channel that much 😆😆😆
Rex was being respectful. Respect is still a thing.
Rex Chapman used to have swag back in the day ...now he's running around looking like temu moby.😂
I remember his debut with Kentucky back in 1986.
Waiting for the part when he brings up Shannon Sharpe not making 5 Ms from the Katt interview for no apparent reason
😂😂
Right!
For the uninitiated.....Rex Chapman was a bona-fide star in high school and Kentucky. Probably one of the 1st athletically gifted white players (No disrespect) I'd ever seen. Definitely one of the state of Kentucky's greatest players of all time.
Haven't heard this name in years.
Maybe because he’s retired and wasn’t that great a pro, but he was one hell of a College player.
I would say he was a really solid player for his entire career. Good shooter for his era
I still remember Chapman from his days with the "old" Charlotte Hornets. He was a hell of a player.
I'm from the same hometown and there are Bo Jackson like stories of Rex's athleticism. I still remember him talking trash to MJ..and backing it up.
I'll always remember that 3 against the Sonics.
He got the Kurt Rambis glasses
This is going to be 🔥
Loved Rex game. Great Jumping ability. Very good shooter.
Rex was a cold-blooded player! He could shoot that rock! I liked him during his time in Phoenix. He put on a show there!
One of my favorite players with the Charlotte Hornets. OG Hornet!
Vlad saying", "being a mcdonalds all american basically guaranteed an nba position later on"........this statement shows that vlad knows absolutely nothing about basketball. and there is nothing wrong with that, but saying that means he doesnt know basketball, at all.
I don’t think he cares to know. He’s just trying to get an interview with an interesting person that will generate views
Pretty much everything he says shows that vlad knows absolutely nothing about basketball
This guy had hops for days.
Wow great story about a FATHERS tough LOVE which is ALWAYS the best love a child can attain.. his dad was preparing him for the highest levels the entire time.. sounds like Floyd Mayweather st and Floyd jr
He looks like the grown up baby from that katt Williams and tiffany haddish movie 😂😂😂
Vlad you the goat my guy
Love this guy
Rex was a beast.. really humble and cool guy too.
My brother's best friend in high school played in the Big 10 and was in the ABA. He told my brother he was like the 9th best player on the team but didn't have a guaranteed contract, so they cut him. He made more money working at a UAW factory, so he retired from basketball. This would've been in the early 70's.
Lets go Owensboro Ky🔥
AHS Alumni
REX IS THE ORIGINAL WHITE CHOCOLATE THEN IT'S JASON WILLIAMS 💯
The original "White Chocolate" is Pistol Pete Maravich
@@ardoniswilliams7241 nah. Pistol didn't have that swag. rex had it. Same as JWill
@@morelife6508 For the time Pistol played in he had plenty of swag, no other white players were doing what he was doing. He set the table for Rex and Jason Williams.
@@ardoniswilliams7241 you're right. I'll go with that. Good stuff!!
I agree. Let's not forget the sports illustrated article with the gold chains.
Do Interviews on the Chance Comanche story next. Everyone wants about this case, the media is not covering it. It would be some of your most watched videos.
Being from Cincinnati, we hated the UK Wildcats except when Rex Chapman played for them.
Wayne Chapman is same age as my parents...that Generation laughs at youngsters when it comes to work & reality...but mine never gambled my money😂
His dad had one of the top basketball recruits living under his roof in didn’t recruit him is crazy.
makes sense when you hear that his dad coached at kentucky weslyen
Ikr 😂 @@2liveproductions132
Man he could shoot deep in high school!
Just listen to his audio book few weeks ago
VLAD check out another player from Kentucky. He is in high school and just won the KY state championship at a school with only 303 students. Travis Perry at Lyon County High School. I see a similar story with this kid.
Rex had hops, did good in the dunk contest
Rex Chapman had serious game.....put some respect on that name. So glad he is recovering.
Rex we love you man! Do some NCAA games!! In the future
Also won the NBA slam dunk contest one year.
I like hearing Rex Chapman speak 💯
The fried chicken in Kentucky is amazing.
This is my favorite white player in the early 90s. He was low-key tough
1 of only guys to drop 40 on MJ...while talkins trash. My fav rex highlight is wreckin the national champs that year, louisville , as a freshman. As a ky kid playin that type game against ya in state rival is nothin sweeter.
Yo he has a dope podcast called owned
I just watched the highlights of Rex putting 39 on the 96 bulls, which was MJ, Pip & Harper. 3 pretty tough defenders. I don't think his shots hit the rim that night.
Ddamn I thought that was Scott Van Pelt😂😂
I was in high school @ the same time as Rex. Some may not realize how groundbreaking he was. Almost a combination of Larry Bird and Jordan at the high school level. Also at the time it was well known nationally from basketball camps that he dated black girls. Now today that’s not a big deal. But at the time in the state of Kentucky it was m. To the point where Louisville tried to use UK conservative culture against them while recruiting him. I’m sure he’s got some interesting stories to tell…
Rex had game. GEAUX TIGERS!
Wow, it seems like yesterday when he helped Kentucky win the national title!
Rex Chapman was a dawg
Had he not hurt his back when he was at UK and Eddie Sutton ran him off from UK he would stayed for his senior year more than likely. He spent the few years in the nba in pain from that back injury in college which led to his addiction eventually.
He used to play for my Charlotte Hornets
Dc was a beast
This is the same guy who shoplifted from an Apple store after being in the nba. Might not believe everything he says.
Shoutout REX!!!!!! Legend and legendary voice
Damn you landed Chapman?
Great player
Rex !!!
HEY, MAN!!! 5'8 "is not small
It is for basketball
It worked out well he went to Kentucky
Rex Chapman is royalty to me.
Rex friggin Chapman, what are we doing here Vlad
Rex could shoot the rock boi!!
Nice glasses Waldo.
His dad did right.... no one on the team likes the coach's Kid.... no matter what he does if he did it correct or wrong it's always going to be he's the coach's child...
REX CHAPMAN WAS WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION
In KY, he's King Rex
Nah, that's in Lexington, not here in Louisville
Herro before herro.💯🏀
Uncle Junior as a young ma
When he was in high school Fathers would offer to pay him to take their daughter to the prom.
We wanted him to be a Hilltopper. He would have had a statue.
Is the interviewer actually Rex but using a AI voice over?
That’s crazy disrespect from pops
Need more mob James and Reggie.
No. That is foolishness. 60yo men chatty pattying about barley literate, broke, hood figures. Pass.
Kentucky fans reminiscing how good they used to be 😢
Are you a Kentucky fan? Is it time for Calipari to go?
He behind muggsy bogues Dell Curry as one of the original greatest hornets player of all times in the Charlotte hornets 🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡
Don't forget LJ & Zo
rex should know his nba history a little better. the merger took place in 1976-77. but he was nice on the court, tho. he played with my homeboy at UK in the early 90s.
Funny how little Vlad knows about sports…guarantee you a scholarship to a D1 school, sure but HS athletics & professional are light yrs apart..
No Rex Chapman no Barkley getting to the NBA finals.
What
Rex sister is Jenny. Both he and her had really bad jungle fever. She used to date Louis Billups of the Bengals...dropped a game sealing interception in the SB against the 49ers. Next play, Montana throws the game winner.
Rex chapman used to shoot his ass off
