Grant was pretty important to Castlevania as a whole, Trevor was a trained since he was born to be a vampire Hunter and carried a magical whip, Sypha was a sorceress and Alucard was Dracula's son, what did Grant represent? The common man, the kind of man that looked at the threat Dracula was and refused to let that happen, who impressed Dracula so much that rather than kill him he turned him into a servant, and that once freed from his curse he had no doubts in continuing his mission, showing the resolve that allowed him to stand next to legnds as an equal and a legend of his own. Also the whole "Why would there be a pirate in a landlocked country" bullshit was incredibly dumb considering how inaccurate the whole show was with the time period, especially when they showed a hilariously inaccurate map of eastern europe, which meant the world was different enough from our own than they could have simply said that due to the existence of vampires that Wallachia still have access to the Black Sea through the Danube or something.
Not only that but Wallacia isn't *that* far from the Black Sea, and Dracula's castle is clearly situated on top of/nearby some body of water (a lake/river). (Never mind the vampire lore that vampires can't cross running water, we'll let that one slip.) Not only that, but the intro mentions many countries attempting to fight back against Dracula. Surely Grant could've come from elsewhere, heard of Dracula's reign of evil, and decided to stop him. Perhaps the ship you see in-game is his ship, taken over by Dracula's forces.
True and true. Well, at least to the iniciated Grant Danasty will forever represent the spirit of the people, the common folks that refuse to bow down to the evil. =)

I really don't understand why the Netflix show completely forevent including Grant in spite of the theme of revenge that echoes throughout the seasons. They openly said this, it is not my speculation. Furthermore, the theme and spirit of the original series were discarded in favor of things like: Hector becoming a sex slave to a vampire whose only personality is being sassy; reddit atheism; Alucard being gay for reasons; introduction of a group of villains with no appeal or charisma. Before concluding, I just want to say that the scene of Striga wearing the armor is cool. In conclusion, it's just something childish that I, as a fan and writer, hope will be discarded and forgotten.
@@LeemVonNellyI personally did not care for it, mostly because it felt like a unrelated series just using the names and title of Castlevania that was not actually interested in being a show about Castlevania, if that makes sense. If it didn't call itself Castlevania I probably wouldn't have as much of an issue with it beyond general writing quality. The new series suffers from this problem a lot more, which I find annoying since Rondo of Blood is amazing and it really makes me fear for the DMC series being made by the same guy, since he might end up making that about himself too.
It just flat out surprises me that they didn't do anything with the whole Danesti clan rivaling Dracula thing. So much wasted story potential. The pirate/sailor thing even sets up why he has such skills as an acrobat and knife fighter. Like Trevor could ask where Grant learned his abilities and Grant could tell him that when he first tried to fight against Dracula's minions that he nearly died and realized that he needed way more training and skills, so he spent a few years sailing around the orient and other places picking up various physical and esoteric abilities.
I have a feeling it has to do with his moveset. Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 had Robert who had limited mobility but had the "normal human" archetype.
I’m still on my first C3 playthrough and I got Sypha. How do I get Grant for my second playthrough? Edit: I FINALLY BEAT THE GAME 3 DAYS AGO! Edit 2: on a second playthrough, found Grant. Is there anyway to have all three allies with you, or do you have to choose just one? Edit 3: Since Alucard is kinda integral to Richter’s story, best way they could make up not having Grant in the original series is having Alucard tell Richter about a time he met Grant and how the latter helped the former out during a big battle that happened after Season 4.
If it were me i would've made Grant a Robin Hood type character maybe a bit of a revolutionary help persuade the locals to see the faults of the church rather just blindly following them meanwhile he could've been in the opening episode remembering the year that Dracula gave to Wallachia gathering a group of resistance fighters all for them to easily be wiped out, him presumed dead rather he is cursed as one of draculas minions. He wouldn't have to show back up unit like somewhere in season 2 with Trevor and the crew defeating him and breaking the curse.
That could work. The introduction to grant danasty as maybe one who knew of the situation with the church and Dracula’s wife and initially tried to help her in his own way, but was thwarted from rescuing her. A tortured grant escapes from prison and spends the year organising whatever he can to either establish a resistance movement to Dracula or a means to help those who desired to flee their home… however the church again thwarts his efforts. When Dracula unleashes doom on wallachia, grant attempts one last attempt to stop the slaughter and try to save people, but his group are massacred. Grant doesn’t get peace though… as Dracula or maybe Issac binds his soul into the form of one of the night creatures and leaves him to guard the clock tower… the cursed demon of that place that Trevor ends up clashing with… though despite his transformation, they sense some thing different and manage to return grants mind… or undo some of the transformation externally, while grant frees himself internally from possession. Upon his release, grant is recognised and has only one thought consuming his thought… revenge on Dracula for the savaging of the innocent and the guilty without restraint. Grant possesses his lethal agility and speed, though is still outstripped by Alucard, throwing knives and rushing it for Dracula and Issac… though his efforts of fighting Dracula are limited… with him needing to be saved by the others. Dynasty doesn’t manage to contribute much to the fight alone, especially when Dracula ends up forcing trevor, sypha, and grant to fight against his minions as Dracula and alucard have their moment together. Grant is hollow after Dracula is defeated… his vengeance denied him… and he heads his own way from the group, working to rebuild Wallachia… it’s his involvement that gets focus as grant works to resist carmillas own dark empire in his own way and find a measure of peace… he eventually finds a group of the survivors of wallachia that he initially rescued at a colony called denasti… named after their saviour who and who sacrificed so much without being thanked. Grant breaks down into tears and rejoins sypha, alucard, and Trevor in their last quest where they defeat death together in glorious fashion. Deaths many sickles deflected away by a barrage of grants knives and the group combing death down. There is a brief moment where grant sees Dracula coming back to life… having a clear shot to go for his heart… but lets him go. Grant then finds a woman, elopes with, and heads off into the sunset with her on a boat, maybe asking for Trevor and sypha to invite him to the wedding… and Trevor saying “if the letter can you, you slippery bastard.” Maybe eventually Issac finds grant’s knife in his quarters stuck into a post with a message. “Don’t make their mistakes. I will be watching. G.D.”
Another thing w/ Judgment Grant, he viewed Ralph/Trevor as an older brother. Which makes way more sense than him liking Sypha. Also, Alucard’s daughter is named “Leila,” not “Leiel.”
Greta IS the female version of grant. Theres too many similarites to be a coincidence. I dont know why the writers keep saying shes not, when it seems clear they did intend to do so. Maybe they were forced to deny she is by warren ellis. (Do you have a daughter? Do you want her to be safe? Then do as i say!)
If Netflix didn't make him a throw-away joke line he could have been one of the survivors of the village Dracula attacked that had all the greedy men that was warned not to go back to the village but still did for the money. Grant being one of the few men who left with the women and children could have just had a view of him and that's it
That's actually not true. There's a novel called Castlevania: Reminiscence of the Divine Abyss. It was not written by Igarashi but supervised by him, and takes place after Dawn of Sorrow (meaning is the last chronological piece of CV media) in it there is a character called Michelle DANASTY, confirming that Grant had descendants. It's canonicity may be dubious since it was never released outside of japan, but there is nothing in the novel that contradicts the games, and since it has Igarashi's involvement it could be seen as an epilogue to the franchise as a whole.
Pro tip for other times when you see romanian words: Ș is read like sh (like shoot or shit) Ț is read like tz (in tzar) Ă is read like uh  is read like a combination between U and I but said with disgust (i recommend using google translate's voice feature because it's a sound not often heard in English) And everything else is said as if you'd speak latin. Mostly.

"hack fraud" is a hell of a way to describe Ellis. He's an asshole for sure (by all evidence criminally so), but hes objectively a skilled writer and director. You undermine your own argument when you try to write him off as incompetent, especially when you misrepresent obvious jokes as his main reasons, when the explicit main reason was the same reason Iga himself neglected Grant over and over -- he doesnt fit well in stories. He's a fifth wheel to the story of Trevor and Sypha, Dracula and Alucard.
Skilled writer with dialogues which contain only "witty quips", f-bombs and nonexistent drama? I was bored as fuck every time any character spoke. Compare anything this guy wrote to the legendary SoTN intro, either English or Japanese. It has so much character it's been stuck in people's minds all these years. My point is that you don't need your average 14yo redditor's philosophical writing to create an awesome show. I prefer corny over self-mocking any day.

My friend Grant got nerfed to hell and back in his travel to the West. What shame. ⭐⭐
Fun fact Grant is the original creator of the Dirty Sanchez which was called Da Nasty when it was originated.
I have a feeling it has to do with his moveset. Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 had Robert who had limited mobility but had the "normal human" archetype.
ohh the tatsuya suou reference in the opening. too real too raw too painful
Konami: WHO!?
Grant: I tell ya, I get no respect! No respect at all!
Grant Denasty is in your walls looking for treasure
Apparently Hammer also got cut from being an Assist Summon from Grimoire of Souls, too.
ITS MY BOY GRANT
Sole respect for Grant, finally!
If Netflix didn't make him a throw-away joke line he could have been one of the survivors of the village Dracula attacked that had all the greedy men that was warned not to go back to the village but still did for the money. Grant being one of the few men who left with the women and children could have just had a view of him and that's it
I hate it when this happens to a character, I hope he gets his time.
Even though he died a virgin, he was a true Chad at heart...
Pro tip for other times when you see romanian words:
Ș is read like sh (like shoot or shit)
Ț is read like tz (in tzar)
Ă is read like uh
is read like a combination between U and I but said with disgust (i recommend using google translate's voice feature because it's a sound not often heard in English)
And everything else is said as if you'd speak latin. Mostly.
It makes me so angry that the writer for the netflix series twisted both Castlevania, and Nocturnes story to an absurd extent. What an absolute punch in the gut to the fans of the series
TF2 Heavy. Nice, is inside!
The best gent. Spider Man of Castlevania.
Please more Castelvania Videos
Grant Da Nasty....its his pirate title. Thats why the "a" is lower case in the manual and then the "D" is uppercase. Just a play on words.
METI IS A FELLOW HEAVY MAIN???
ROSE LETS FUCKING GO BEST PART OF THIS VIDEO
they cut down grant from the netflix show because it would have been too many characters and then proceeded to flood the next 4 seasons with lame boring characters that added little to the story and no one cared about
Poor man...he can't even..gets another chance..
Justice for Danasty
#GRANTSWEEP
Ah the guy who went through Danastiest shit ever...
MY FAVORITE CHARACTER FINALLY GETTING REP! 😭
Dracula was scared of goblin mode humans.
omggg is that the guy from one piece?
Really? That's the reason my boi isn't in the netflix series? Man they did him dirty, poor guy.
Grant has been cursed ever since Konami USA nerfed him in 1990.
Only real Castlevania fans are worth of knowing Grant Danasty
Im always gonna be salty over Grant's treatment. Justice for Grant Danasty!!!
ALL GLORY TO GOD DANASTY
maybe we'll see Lucia again ;-;
Still a pirate in my eyes 😂 just messing with you. Bur he do looks like one. But i understand his not. He was op in Castlevania 3 yeah. I felt like i was cheating when i first used him. I git used to his short attack. I think people don't like him because his not as pretty as yhe the other party members
Man, listening to this got me upset. Poor guy didnt deserve the mistreatment.
God the Netflix show was so fucking bad lmao
Ah yes. Too bad Greta from Castlevania was not a gender swapped Grant...
She wasn't Warren Ellis denied this multiple times
@@saldzbob9972 Exactly. Which is why it's unfortunate.
@@claytonrios1 it's pretty much a middle finger to everyone who wants Grant to be apart of the show.
Why would anyone want that? All of the characters in the show sucked and became the worst incarnation of the character.
Meti stay hitting
Grant Deserves a redesign and New Back story instead of him being a thief Why not a soldier or a descendant of New breed of humans
Isn't that just the Belmonts
@@saldzbob9972 No No No not like the Belmont's More The x-men
More reasons to despise Netflixvainia, awful show.
Lol am I the only one who clicked on the video despite not knowing at all who the guy featured in it was ?
Such a let down we never got to see him as the pirate of the roads in the Netflix show and complete the squad
Was he really that nasty?
"hack fraud" is a hell of a way to describe Ellis. He's an asshole for sure (by all evidence criminally so), but hes objectively a skilled writer and director.
You undermine your own argument when you try to write him off as incompetent, especially when you misrepresent obvious jokes as his main reasons, when the explicit main reason was the same reason Iga himself neglected Grant over and over -- he doesnt fit well in stories. He's a fifth wheel to the story of Trevor and Sypha, Dracula and Alucard.
Grant was in symphony of the night alongside with Trevor and Sypha as a reanimated corpse that Alucard has to fight.
@@Mendax5let's not forget that hack added a viking and two lesbian vampires that barely add anything to the story.
@@saldzbob9972It wasn’t those people. The Castle itself was distorting zombies to resemble them. Dracula’s Castle is not a machine in the game, it is a living Creature from Hell Itself in the games with dark magic and telepathic powers, a mind of its own as you will. The Castle Itself was projecting his dead companions, it wasn’t actually them.
Didn't they have a town in Castlevania Netflix called Danasty?
