  • Why Is Grip Important for Drifting a Car? Its a common misconception that drifting doesn't require grip. In today's video we show you the extremes off too much grip and too little grip and what happens while drifting. A proper alignment, suspension components, and the right tires are key to learning and exceling when drifting a car.

    Front tyres don't need to be super grippy tbf especially not when starting out, too much grip on the front with hardly any rear grip will make the car pivot around the front/spin. Some slip on the front is still fine especially on lower power cars, say a stock miata, heck Chelsea denofa did a video drifting with space saver/donuts on the front of his bmw and car drifted pretty well still...
    I do agree about the rear grip, once you are able to actually drift and link a few corners it becomes really important and definitely makes the car more snappy and generally faster to drift.

    How long do front tires usually last?

      It depends on many factors. Front end setup, power level etc. On a lower power car you can get quite a few events out of them, on a high power car with a serious angle kit, i would say 2-4
