    I learned about UMPI from you like 6 mos ago , applied, got in of course, and they basically let me pick up where I left off when I dropped out at my brick and mortar school with their BLS program. I finished 10 courses (30 credits) in 8 weeks and only have 7 (21 credits) left , and will graduate at the end of Summer 2 2023 .
    If youre reading this and you know yourself and know you are a fast learner and a hard worker, yes, you could literally get a Bachelors degree in like 6-9 months .
    Also, for the 30 credit hour residency requirement , 12 of them must be 300/400 level courses.

    I did first half of degree at WGU. I switched to UMPI bc I was having issues with the WGU protors saying my internet wasnt sufficient. I would request another proctor and suddenly it was fine. It became a pain.
    At UMPI I dont have to deal with proctors. For me, WGU classes were very easy compared to UMPI classes. My UMPI professors expect a much higher level of work than WGU graders. UMPI requires multiple essays a week. It is definitely not a school for students who prefer multiple choice questions.
    It takes me longer to get through the classes at UMPI, but Im glad I switched.
    People are complaining that UMPI doesnt responsed back quickly. I understand it must be frustrating. UMPI is a small school in the country in Maine. Suddenly they have gone "viral" (for lack of a better word) and they are being flooded with applicants. They do not have the people power in admissions the way WGU and other bigger schools have.
    When you start you have an admissions advisor that stays with you through your degree and a success couch. One of them are always able to be reached by phone or email.
    I also really love the feedback from the professors. They seem to be more involved in the courses than the WGU professors. They write the class content, create the assignments, and grade the assignments. I love UMPI so much. The course load is heavier, but Im so glad I switched.
    This is not a dig at WGU. They are a great school for those who prefer tests over papers.

    I love the idea of UMPI and I heard about them from you. My biggest issue with UMPI is not a single counselor I've talked to there has a brain and is capable of getting my credits tabulated. So, I don't know what their issue is, except that they are a state school with too much state money and have no need for actual students.

      You can apply, and they will send your credit transfer report. They will then ask you when/if you want to start. It doesn't cost anything to apply. The admissions advisors are not the transfer experts. I applied, and they sent me my report, and I put off starting for an entire session while I worked on sophia and study course. They took 100 credits for (some after I had started). They were a mix of wgu classes/study/sophia/military credits.

    • @CollegeHacked
      @CollegeHacked  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s because graduate credit can’t really be hacked in the same way, there aren’t platforms that offer grad credit, and most schools only allow a max of 9 credit hours of transfer-and the transfers typically have to come from another accredited university. Some schools offer portfolio credit options at the grad level, but it’s relatively rare. Liberty University is the best we know of for that process.

    What are you thoughts on the MAOL and if it’s worth getting over applying somewhere with an MBA or similar administrative degree? Money wise, time wise (especially for someone that Is used to how quickly UMPI classes can be knocked out. Salary wise, career wise….How do you think it would be looked at overall and is it a good choose for a future career in business or administration or overall a waste of time and money and is it better to go for a more prestigious masters degree?
    Also, do you think UMPI will add more Masters programs and even a doctorate one day?
    Sorry for all the questions lol

      Good questions:
      1. Getting the MAOL doesn't keep you from getting an MBA later and is a quick way to Master's. But an MBA sort of outranks an MAOL.
      2. I don't think it's a wast of time or money. The benefit for the cost will be amazing, but the benefit of an MBA will be more. You can always get an MBA in the future if you run into a wall.
      3. I doubt doctorate but I expect more Master's!

    Dear Dr. S,
    I wanted to express my gratitude for your informative videos, which have greatly helped me. Learning about TESU and Sophia (2023) has reignited my pursuit of higher education after facing setbacks and the challenges of COVID-19.
    Having earned two associates degrees in 2018 and 2019, transferring to a university became nearly impossible after moving to a new state. However, with the help of Sofia, TESU, and WGU, I am now only 13 classes away from graduating with a BSIT from WGU.
    After obtaining my WGU degree, I plan to pursue a cost-effective Master's in Cybersecurity at TESU, aiming to complete it by 2025. This opportunity has made it more affordable than my 2017 Accord!
    Thank you for providing such valuable resources and inspiring me on my educational journey.

    I have two assocate degrees and over 100 sophia credits. UMPI says it accepted 171 tranfer credits, but then says I still need to take 24 of their courses. Your advocating for UMPI as fast and hackable seems to misalign with what I'm seeing

    • @CollegeHacked
      @CollegeHacked  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It sounds likely that you’re misunderstanding the transfer credit report, or that maybe you didn’t pre-map the classes to your chosen degree? You can transfer in 90 credits, but they have to be the right 90 credits for the degree you picked. That’s actually the main reason we have a business, because it’s not as easy as it might seem to interpret what the school accepts for their various graduation requirements (it’s not gate kept info, just kind of complicated if you aren’t familiar). This is likely still a situation we could help you with if you decide you want that. Email clifford@collegehacked.com with more info on your situation if you’d like and we can tell you if we’d be able to assist enough to justify the cost.

    I have also had a difficult time with UMPI. I originally applied sometime in July 2023, sent my official transcripts, had difficulty getting transcripts from one school which was not UMPI's fault, but they were all submitted by August 12th. I am still waiting for my credit evaluation, I have no idea what they will accept, and I have already gotten accepted and a full evaluation from WGU (within a week of submission). I don't want to take extra courses if UMPI will accept more than WGU, but I feel like I am sitting on my hands waiting to get started.
    Also, I don't know if it is just me, but I have had a hard time navigating their website and portals. I keep getting errors and clicking links that are broken or loop back to another page.

    • @CollegeHacked
      @CollegeHacked  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      We can almost guarantee you’ll get more credit awarded at UMPI, since WGU doesn’t have free elective sections in their degrees. So unless there is direct overlap between your previous major/courses and your new one, you lose credit. 😢 UMPI is running about 6-8 weeks on evals right now, so it sounds like yours should be super close to coming back! Also, they sometimes upload the eval to your student account but don’t email you, so check to see if it’s there :)

      @@CollegeHacked Thank you for replying, and so quickly! I actually checked my portal just after I posted the comment and the transcript information was posted today! They actually accepted the same amount of credits as WGU, but require fewer credits to complete the degree (WGU: 136 credits for BA Special Education mild to moderate; vs UMPI: 120 credits for BA Liberal Studies in Education). I realize the UMPI degree is less specialized, however I work for a private school for individuals with developmental disabilities and I may wear many hats at any given time, so I appreciate the flexibility of adding the psychology or business electives that will help me personally in my position, and provide the degree necessary to advance to a master's if I decide to continue.

      Absolutely! Half of our clients (at least) come in with no college credit. You can totally do it.

      yes it is possible since that would give oneself three eight week flat rate full time terms with which to load up thirty college credits per eight week term; and one could also potentially try to directly objective CLEP test out of some of the other general education category and general elective category college credit classes for the other thirty college credits; so it is not impossible but it will likely be quite the educational journey as one undergoes this educational transformation change process.

    You can earn a degree but cannot manage a job with these sorts of degrees!! i.e. CLEP credits or even AP credits are not acceptable to any school of engineering or health professions. While facing job interviews, online degree or such competency based degrees are being knocked out on first step. I am an educator, working in this research field of developing newer methods of education for a decade. But no employers are interested for such alternatives degree holder candidates!!
