Wanted the T480s but weirdly the exhaust fan is on the right hand side which I don't like. So I went for the T480. Plan to do some upgrade. Thanks for the video.

I'd say that more comparable spec-wise to T480 is Carbon gen6 or gen7, and it already can be found for somewhat similar price. Concerning upgradability I'd say it's a bit overrated, nowadays for day-to-day tasks 8gb is pretty much enough, especially if you're using Linux, so if you'll get 16gb unupgradeble machine you'll be okay for a long time. And if/when you'll face the tasks which really need more than 16 gigs, most probably the CPU in this machines would be not sufficient for this tasks anyway. Of course it's very individual, thing but for me when I'm choosing laptop the first thing is portability, so my choice here is Carbon, but somewhat newer than gen3 of course.

for video editing you would want a somewhat decent GPU. the T480 intel integrated GPU is just not going to cut it for video editing. you could hook up an eGPU but this is not really something people would recommend.
