A review I watched with no need to buy. Already on my second tiger 800 and best all round bike you can get. From my work commute to touring with pillion I can’t fault it.
Longest day I’ve done is 600k and very comfortable. But really do a lot of roads that involve moving around seat. On motorways I’m sure it would seem a bit hard.
Great review. I've been waiting a while for this one. I bought this exact bike last year (same color and everything). I'm at 9k miles on the odometer. Happy to report no major problems. I do have a few thoughts to add. The good: It's fantastic to ride, amazing engine, sounds great, surprisingly capable off-road, comfortable ergonomics (I'm 6' 1" / 200 lbs), and has outstanding build quality. Some drawbacks however: The engine cooks your legs at stoplights, but the heat quickly dissipates when you get moving. Poor fueling at higher altitudes, especially above 10k feet. The seat is a little hard and doesn't breathe very well, but I just use a sheepskin cover for longer trips. Also, the sidestand has a small footprint, and sinks into soft ground. These are pretty minor complaints for a bike that's already meant to be a compromise of on and off road capabilities. Given the choice, I would definitely buy the 800 again.
Hi Mr TMF, I'm on an 9 day trip to Thailand from Kuala Lumpur. Now in AO Nang and saw one of your sticker at the Chatchada House hotel. Hope you had a good trip in Thailand, fantastic roads all around.
4:48 "Boy it gets warm" I'm smiling. That's why I always bug you to include in your reviews the amount of heat coming off bikes. I know it's not so much an issue in the UK but it absolutely makes or breaks a bike in these sort of climates. Some bigger bikes are better than others at keeping cool and deflecting engine heat from the rider. Love your channel and it's great to see you moto-vlogging outside of Blighty.
Hi from Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand! Nice surprise to see you visiting the Land of Smiles. As others have said, next time come ride up north for better roads, higher mountains, cooler weather, incredible coffee, fantastic food, and wonderful people. As a fellow Triumph fanboy I’d be happy to provide local info and a ride on my Street Scrambler.
Great first impressions. Whilst adicted to the power of my 1200cc, I am really impressed with these 800 / 900 machines. Like the nimbleness, less like the tubular framework of this model which lacks that something that our BMWs have in their DNA. The sound of that triple is wonderful. Would not be surprised if the power:weight was not that far short of a GS. Onherbike Kinga's F800 proving these points and suitability as a great all-rounder. methinks. And I thought Thailand was all dirt roads and exotic beaches! Yep, sure beats Blighty in November! Enjoyed the brief ride with you Andy.
Nice bike, my mate has just got one and he's very happy with it. I saw he commented below as he lives in Krabi and I pop out to go riding with him in this very region. There are many fantastic trails and I hope you found them and some of the lovely places to stop for refreshment or a cool dip in a mountain stream. Really Paradise, albeit a touch warm like you say if you spend any time in slow traffic or at lights. Keep up the good reviews and await the next installment.
What a treat, waking up to a TMF first impression video of a bike I just recently purchased. Absolutely love my 800 XCa. Huge shoutout to the UK Triumph motorcycle company for building such marvelous machines 👍🏼. Have ridden this bike in some beautiful National parks and off road she really shines. Massive thanks Andy for a great review. 👍🏼 👏👏👏 😎 🇺🇸
Wow very exotic indeed, the countryside looks beautiful. I like this bike, I found it very comfortable. Thanks for making the effort to make this vid in a stunning location. Top man, enjoy the holiday 🙂
Thanks so much for this review. I was stationed up north in Thailand during the war, 1970. A village called Nakhon Phanom. Loved the country then. Certainly looks different now. I bought my 2018 Tiger XRT 800 after your review of the bike. Best bike I’ve owned in my 25 years of riding. Here in New England, the heated seats and grips, and adjustable on the fly windscreen make all the difference on a cold day. One after market part I put on was a Rox Riser. This has made a big difference, because I am able to adjust the riding position with just an Allen wrench. Fabulous extra. And for any of your subscribers that are put off by the cost, consider getting a left over. I bought mine this year in April, and since it was the last in the showroom, I got it for $4500 USD off the list price. This was fully loaded with panniers, engine guards, and skid plate. Absolutely fantastic machine for me. I’m 5’10” and ride the seat in the high position. I can flat foot the bike. I love your work. Thanks for sharing.
Oh u lucky bugger. Great reviewer, great bike & great location. Having been to Thailand several times & own a 18 XRT this was a pleasure to watch. Time for work now 😢
Been living and riding bikes in Krabi for 25 years. Bet you got plenty of footage of crazy driving whilst you were there. Best bit of advice I got when first driving there was to look both ways when crossing a one way street. Got to love them limestone cliffs.
I agree totally with your assessment of the bike. My bike even the same colour although I have silver panniers. I'm 6'4" so I have a little extension on the windscreen & I also changed the gear lever needed more room, big feet. I ride my bike on unsealed roads so I fitted a 1 tooth smaller front sprocket. I went from 4700 @ 100kph in 6th to 5000, but it makes the slow work on badly potholed roads easier, no need to slip the clutch. The modes, when the going gets tough the modes get going. Loaded up with camping gear on loose gravel in rain mode the TC stops the rear wheel slipping and the intervention is really smooth. Hit offroad mode & spin up the back wheel, but the TC never lets it get out of control. Play around with the modes at that those times & the differences are really clear. Thank you for your thoughts I wouldn't change bikes very happy 😎
Swadee krup Mr, a few years ago I did about 20 000km around Thailand on a Honda 125 FI, what a journey and what a tough bike! Now I want to go back and do it again on a Tiger, great vid as usual...Stay safe on them crazy roads!
I enjoyed your review of the 800xca. The current offering in the US is a 900 and I was just rooting with the idea of finding a pre-owned 800xca as an alternative. Thank you for the nice Thialand tour.
After back packing around Thailand in the early 2000s and seeing the road accidents and the lack of help for anyone injured I’d be very careful on a bike out there! Love the tiger XCA and will be my next bike once my own tiger XC gets a little older..
Yes great bike - I was really impressed with it after my tour having ridden it for 100’s if miles....looking forward to seeing the new 900 next week....
TheMissendenFlyer yes I love mine, it does everything I want of it and has the added bonus of not having a BMW badge! If your in Krabi then Railay Beach is a great place to visit, we stayed in some tree houses which was a great experience.. Ride safe flyer..
Had a Tiger 800 road version for 4 years. Being 6ft 2” and 16 stone.....you’ll find loads of taller riders change the windscreen because of ear piercing turbulence and buffeting and being a heavy person the seat foam compressed to much, I could only manage 30 miles before pain kicked in, fitted a madstad adventure screen and a Sargent Seat, both problems solved with no turbulence and could now spend 200 miles on the bike without needing to stop for a break. Engine was great, strong and reliable.
Agree with everything you said; Almost. I bought one in BAHA Orange week ago here in Dorset and it is an amazing bike. I just love every minute I spend on it. I found the seat to be fine but then maybe I have a larger more comfortable rear end!
Great tropical show, thanks for sharing. This review might have come a little late just a week before the successor will be introduced, but anyway I always liked this bike. Thanks for your efforts. 👍🍪
Nice review. I’m with you on this one...I’d have the Triumph over a GS any day for one-up, every-day riding. GS would tip it for comfortable long distance 2-up. Hope you both had a great time in Thailand!
I do own Tiger 800 XCX and as a bike inside a city and occasional tours it works perfectly for me. Heavier bike would be too much for street riding. I don't ride faster than 160 on highways, so there is no need for more power, still able to overtake without issue.
I purchased the 2019 800 XRT low. Put 9,000 miles on it first year. Love this bike. Both myself (5'-6") and my daughter (5'-2") can ride the bike comfortable. I can't comment about the stock seat, I purchased the comfort gel seat before leaving the dealership. I've always been comfortable on that seat. Plenty of power (compared to cruisers) and lightweight (compared to my Goldwing). I love the TFT display and being able to change riding modes on the fly.
Hi Missenden Flyer, I love how you’ll take any and every opportunity to give your followers a bike review no matter the place or bike 👍. You’re absolutely correct that this was an exceptional location to video the bike 🌴🌴🌴. I like the look of the Tiger but the trouble in Australia is that their dealerships are few and far between. Also a little bit overpriced compared to some of the Japanese options. Thanks for taking the time out to review the bike...you’re awesome 👍😀.
The XR variant has the "beak" as an option in the catalogue, well worth the investment! The forged wheels on the XR just seem nicer as a commuter to keep clean (I think the spoked wheels are tubeless though, which is good news).
Up with the wife - good god I’m first! Ha ha ha. Interesting bike but waiting now for that 900! Hope the jet lag has gone although I have to say that I only get it going eastbound - you seemed ok on Sunday and it was great to chat, at least for a while. Yours aye, Alan
Oh... I thought the surroundings looked familiar .... was in Krabi last year and had a blast! Locals are so hospitble and food/fruit divine. Hope you had a chance to ride along the Ao Nang beach strip and grab some footage!?
Hi TMF.. Great Review of the Tiger 800 XCA. My Speed Triple was written off in an accident in Sydney. I'm thinking of buying a new Tiger XCA but I've heard Triumph are bringing out a Tiger 900. Decisions.. Decisions 😀
Indeed - it gets revealed next week and I’ve been invited to the reveal event at Hinckley to see it - looking forward to seeing how they’ve made an already great bike better....
@@TheMissendenFlyer That's exciting for you to be invited to the launch of the new Tiger 900. If you can please post a video showing the new Triumph model.. Thanks 😀
Interesting video on the 800 xca, I cannot decide whether to wait for the new model, or to buy an 18 plate now, one question for you, as you were riding in a hot climate, did you feel any heat coming up and on to your legs, alot of the reviews seem to say its a problem on the tiger, my africa twin has the same problem, it gets very hot,
I'm looking forward to seeing a review of the new Tiger 900. I believe it will become available in early December. Hopefully, Triumph will lend one to TMF as soon as they become available.
Attn: Missendenfly :) : May I ask what is your TOP 1 or 2 between Triumph Tiger 800 (X?); Tiger 900 (GT/Rally); KTM Adv 790 S/1290 S ; Yamaha Tenere 700 ; Africa Twin (smaller/standard) ; Suzuki V-Strom 1000..? In terms of your riding preferences, comfort, with a pillion occasionally, mostly on streets backcountry routes, and highways. Maybe a day here and there, a little bit of gravel, grass or dirt. But like 10%. Streets here in and around Montreal are full of potholes. Something as close as your love for BMW R1200/1250GS or Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro / Rally Pro..? I would love to have your input/advice ... 🙏🏼 Watched A LOT of your videos/reviews and I’m getting more confused. :) haha I’m coming from a Triumph Speedmaster 900 2007. P.S.: I only tried and loved BMW R1250GS last year... but it just gets too expensive in the end. I’m 5’8-5’9 ; 180 pounds. Thank you so much in advance! 🙏🏼
Far more interested in the location than the bike. Krabi is a very beautiful place. Wife and I are off to Thailand again next year and Krabi along with Chaing Mia are our likely destinations. Thanks and have fun.
Hello Mr. Flyer! One question for you please: I just test rode it today and I noticed what others also mentioned about the heat coming out from the engine to the legs. I have to say that it is almost excessive. Did you experience that as well? It s a damn pitty cause other than that the bike seriously rocks....
Hi. enjoying your videos as always. I wonder if you could tell me where in Thailand you are or have been and what areas are best for scenery and culture? Thanks Andy
Hey TMF, are you planning an upgade to a 4K camera? That would improve the image quality quite a bit. Especially during walkarounds I'd like to see a sharper image.
@@TheMissendenFlyer Oh that's odd. I was watching some TommyBarnezTV videos lately and the picture quality of his walkarounds is amazing! Your vids in comparison look 'foggy'. But other than that great review, I always enjoy your commentary. :)
Yes it breaks official cover next week and I shall be at the factory for the reveal - looking forward to seeing what they’ve done to an already great machine....may well post a video on that afterwards....
Really interesting review. If you like the XR there’s no need to get the XC just for the beak. You can buy a colour coded one as an extra...and it really improves the bike’s appearance. Is a Thai bike same spec as UK?
I'm facing a quandry!, triumph 1200 xe or the tiger 800xca. Love the utilitarian look of the tiger and long ride capability but the scrambler is probably where I will enjoy the majority of my weekend rides and is an amazing looking machine ... what to do?, would welcome all views! ... I'm 6'2, 85 kg mid forties ... can adding a screen to the scrambler and saddle bags make it a fun tourer for those once a year long rides?
I have always considered three main adventure bikes as my next bike; the big gsa, which has the most tech, the most weight and the most price (blow my budget), the AT, which seems the best bang for buck, and this, which seems like the best looking bike plus really well speced (although I did note one fail on a round the world type trip recently, replace by an AT) but now I consider the royal enfield Himilayan a contender.
Yes I’d largely agree - of course the new Tiger 900 breaks cover next week, and I’m sure it won’t be a worse bike than the existing one! Stay tuned for my first look video soon....
I found the seat on the tiger to be beautiful, but that on the scrambler to be hard, interest g how different bums feel the same seat differently.... Plus, as a new rider, I really noticed the difference in throttle response with the different modes....
If the highways keep deteriorating here we'll all need ADV bikes to get around on. Great review! Too much for me as a 2nd or 3rd bike, but I may buy a good used KLR 650 to sit next to my GW and V2K.
1. I thought the handlebar is slightly off to the right when you align it with the body. 2. At 110 km/h and above, you didn't find issues with wind buffeting? 3. Why on earth were you doing static review under the hot tropical sun? Could have done it under tree shades.
I’d like it even more if it had shaft drive Triumph. That’s about as big as I’d find comfortable with an adventure bike. Centre stand yes? Did you try the heated grips?
Did you get a chance to visit the Triumph factory in Thailand? Were you riding a 'local product' or is the Tiger made in UK? I'm looking forward to the new 900. I'll see you at the factory launch if I'm very lucky my name is pulled out of the hat!
No I was in the South of Thailand - I think the factory is up in the North....not sure where the Tiger 800 is made, makes no odds to me....see you on Tuesday....
Personally I’m having a hard time waiving farewell to analog gauges. That said, you’ve convinced me that BMW offers the state-of-the-art TFT but what’s more useful, a first generation TFT or old school colored LED like the “new” 2020 V-Strom offers?
If you were to change your bmw gs, would you buy this bike Triumph Tiger 800 XCA? Or what would you buy in the Adventure bikes? Thank you for your help!
See a few of them down here in Australia. Nice bike and the triple engine is a peach. And as someone who lives in the tropics, stopping at the lights is the worst.
@@TheMissendenFlyer right-o--- well hoped you enjoyed your time in the land of smiles... looked like you were in the Krabi area or Phang Na...there are many excellent touring routes throughout the country -- next time let us know and we can advise if needed
Bike reviews in Thailand, can’t be bad, have you had any experience with the old Tiger 955i, thinking of getting one for the winter and to commute on, love to here your opinion if you have. Also where was the white van today!!?..👍
Would you recommend the new Tiger 900 over this one? I am a massive fan of the triple engines. Used to have a Street Triple and moved on to a MV Agusta Dragster... also a triple. Lovely engines both. I now want to add a bike with better 2-up (plus luggage) capabilities, since my wife wants to start joining me for rides. I was pretty much set for a Tiger until I started seeing reviews of the new 900. From all reviews, it sounds like the new 900's triple engine with the T-plane crank kinda lost it's triple flair and is now more like a p-twin wanna be. Not necesarily bad, just not a triple anymore? Maybe lost some of its sporty feeling? I've never understood why brands would want to do that... they have a gem of an engine and then they go of and de-tune it to feel like something else. I would like to keep it a triple that feels and sounds like one... kinda torn between new and old here. Old would mean i can get it for cheaper and spend the extra money on gear...
Tiger 800 XCa is going to be my next bike, test rode one last year and loved it... Sadly my test ride was around the woburn area. Not quite as exotic. Atb, Ben.
I’ve had the Tiger 800XRt for a couple of years and generally pleased with it. Just a little concerned about long term reliability... And Thailand...I’m flying out for an organised motorcycle tour of the country on a Honda CB500X in 2 days time!
Interesting video thanks. I had a 2016 XRT, which was my first modern Triumph. I’d traded a 2013 R1200RT for it, aiming to lose bike weight and get a Triumph. I was impressed how high the Triumph spec was after BMW. I changed the can and put a “beak” on it. I thought it was a very practical and safe bike. The windshield was always an issue, Tiger owners were always changing them. I just never loved the bike. I didn’t like the sound of the Triple Engine and I didn’t like the looks of the bike. Both subjective factors. That’s when I moved to having Bonnevilles. My partner as a pillion thinks the T120 is far more comfortable. I can see a place for an adventure bike like that if you want to do a lot of off or rough road riding. In fact I ended up recently getting a CB500X for all year riding, but that is a second bike to my T120. The Tiger 800s are practical but not as loveable as some other bikes., in my opinion. If I was in the market for that sort of bike I’d also consider the Yamaha Ténéré.
Indeed I need to get me a go on one of those Tenere's Pete - I only hear good things about them - mind you the Tiger 900 comes out next week....upping the bar again maybe?
Another bike, another beautiful country. No pillion this time. Interesting bike but I think I would prefer the xrx version. I don’t do off-road and I don’t have to clean and maintain them spoked wheels. Around 100 bhp is enough; only heavy bikes need a bit more.
A little big, the Tiger, for general use in Thailand. Just love that triple whine though. Interesting you thought the seat was a little firm, I thought the same. You should of gone to North Thailand, blinding roads and scenery. See you next time maybe haha
You mentioned you were a shorty but wre comfortable on the xca, what height are you.... im 5'7" in the imperial and wondering if I'm gonna have two feet on the ground.
Hey TMF, I really sympathise with you getting too hot waiting at the junction in 30 degrees...(not!)it was the same here in West Sussex this morning...or was that 3 degrees ...!? Cheers, Steve
The lengths you go to for nice backdrops.... That triple is a great sounding engine but i think the Tiger is best suited to light off road trails and tarmac even with the excellent. WP's. Like most other adventure bikes just too expensive to risk dropping off road...a light dual sport would be a great way to explore and enjoy off road. Did you get time to go to James Bond Island at Phang Nga Bay ? Its a short boat ride from Krabi. Then finish the day off with a bottle of Phu Yuck..
This is the bike I would love to have but they are ridiculously expensive here in Thailand. The 800 XRT is $19,995 and the 800 XCA is $21,945 . This of course will cause me to get a Kawasaki or Honda. It's the import tax causing these high prices. This is why I play the government lottery here in Cha-am. These are Bangkok prices. They may be a little cheaper in Krabi. Thanks for another good review Sir........Sal : )
I saw a video of two guys on a scooter in Thailand and tiger popped out the woods, trying to get them. That scooter must have been peppy, because they out ran that tiger! That Tiger 800 looks great, but I am a Triumph fan.
hello bro.. i am going to buy a new bike and i cant decide between the tiger 800 xc and the 1200 gs adventure.. i need the bike for nice trips with my wife. we are both tall. what u suggest? i like both bikes a lot and i cant decide...
@@TheMissendenFlyer thanks for the response! cost is always an issue but i mean i would buy one of these 2 at the same price... i find a 2011 xc at 7.000 euros and a 2008 gs adventure at 7.000 euros... so between these 2 is the choice i have to make
Always thought it a shame that even after increasing the capacity from 675 to 800 that the 800 motor made less power than the Street Triple. Think there will be a Tiger 900 shortly although I don't think it made the NEC show. Thailand looks amazing, looking forward to the vids
Yes the tiger 900 is revealed next week - I’ve even been invited to the reveal event at the factory...I may take my GoPro along because I’m now firmly a Tiger fan....

Yes I'd swap the seat out too - I did some big rides on this bike and never had an issue with the screen!
The new screen is way better, I'm your height and it's awesome.
Agree with everything you said; Almost. I bought one in BAHA Orange week ago here in Dorset and it is an amazing bike. I just love every minute I spend on it. I found the seat to be fine but then maybe I have a larger more comfortable rear end!
Have you done a 12 hour day on it yet? I did some long rides on this bike and I found the seat not as good as I'd like....
@@TheMissendenFlyer 5 hours and heated seat too. We can't all be in the far East.
I admit I never tried the heated seat or grips, despite the very long hours in the saddle!
I bought this bike back in April. For me it ticks all the boxes. Great review. Thanks. Ps. Thailand looks amazing. : )
Cheers Paul....and it is!
Great tropical show, thanks for sharing.
This review might have come a little late just a week before the successor will be introduced, but anyway I always liked this bike. Thanks for your efforts. 👍🍪
...precisely why I got it out now! Looking forward to seeing the 900 next week....
@@TheMissendenFlyer Of course.
And it's a brilliant way to say goodbye to a very successful Triumph bike. 😉
Nice review. I’m with you on this one...I’d have the Triumph over a GS any day for one-up, every-day riding. GS would tip it for comfortable long distance 2-up. Hope you both had a great time in Thailand!
It's a beautiful country - had a great time thanks...load more to come from my tour next year...stay tuned!
TheMissendenFlyer I’ll stick around AND stay tuned! 😂😂👍
Hi Missenden Flyer,
I love how you’ll take any and every opportunity to give your followers a bike review no matter the place or bike 👍.
Thank you very much Peter!
He will take any opportunity to make money, like all of us do, he just happens to have a job where business and pleasure come hand in hand.
Great bike I have the 2012 xc version and still enjoy every ride
My my you certainly do get around!
Looks like a beautiful country! Enjoy! Cheers!
Oh, hello from Thailand to you! 😉 Have fun in Krabi! Great weather right now.
Bike reviews from Thailand from TMF... how cool is that? !!! Nice!
.....actually “cool” it wasn’t!!
The XR variant has the "beak" as an option in the catalogue, well worth the investment! The forged wheels on the XR just seem nicer as a commuter to keep clean (I think the spoked wheels are tubeless though, which is good news).
Riding around Thailand with a lady on the back.
Have you checked? You might be mistaken.
It was my Mrs, I’m quite sure she’s the real thing....
Lol
I normally wear a back protector in Thailand for this reason
@@eoghanhennessy15 LOL
You can buy the beak for the XRT. I found my legs were more cramped on the XCA and I don't like wire wheels.
Good first look TMF. It will be interesting to see what the new Tiger 900 will be like.
Yes I’m looking forward to seeing it next week....
Up with the wife - good god I’m first! Ha ha ha. Interesting bike but waiting now for that 900! Hope the jet lag has gone although I have to say that I only get it going eastbound - you seemed ok on Sunday and it was great to chat, at least for a while. Yours aye, Alan
Yes brilliant to meet you at last Alan, thanks for coming by to say hello....
Good review👍Just bought a new tiger 800 XCA last week and very impressed so far😁 can’t wait to go a tour up on the NC500 this spring.
Great trip that one - did you see my videos on it??
TheMissendenFlyer yes I did and enjoyed it. I live in southern Scotland so not to far a trek to enjoy the lovely scenery up here.
Oh... I thought the surroundings looked familiar .... was in Krabi last year and had a blast! Locals are so hospitble and food/fruit divine. Hope you had a chance to ride along the Ao Nang beach strip and grab some footage!?
I certainly did Di! A beautiful part of the world with lovely people....
Thanks 😀
Interesting video on the 800 xca, I cannot decide whether to wait for the new model, or to buy an 18 plate now, one question for you, as you were riding in a hot climate, did you feel any heat coming up and on to your legs, alot of the reviews seem to say its a problem on the tiger, my africa twin has the same problem, it gets very hot,
Love Krabi. Hope you made it to Railay beach when you had some spare time. Stunning place. I am excited to watch the launch of the 900 next week :)
I did indeed - packed with tourists!
I'm looking forward to seeing a review of the new Tiger 900. I believe it will become available in early December. Hopefully, Triumph will lend one to TMF as soon as they become available.
Stunning location! Quite a change from your usual digs! Great review. Will be seeing more of the Thai tour?
Peace!
Oh yes - lots to come next year!
A bike review in Thailand you lucky Lad. Safe trip TMF.
...I like to think of myself as fortunate.....
Far more interested in the location than the bike. Krabi is a very beautiful place. Wife and I are off to Thailand again next year and Krabi along with Chaing Mia are our likely destinations. Thanks and have fun.
Loads more to come from Thailand next year Mark - stay tuned!
Hello Mr. Flyer! One question for you please: I just test rode it today and I noticed what others also mentioned about the heat coming out from the engine to the legs. I have to say that it is almost excessive. Did you experience that as well? It s a damn pitty cause other than that the bike seriously rocks....
Triumph is one of the great brands of Thailand
Great motorcycle, excellent review, incredible scenery!
Thank you as ever!
Would you do a comparison for the 800s that are now about ?
This, cross runner etc etc
Welcome to Thailand! I hope you also get a chance to ride up north on some of the great roads like the 1148.
I was based in the South (Krabi) and had a great time doing the non-tourist spots....loads of videos coming next year...
@@TheMissendenFlyer Excellent! I haven't ridden in the south, look forward to seeing what you found.
Next stop Aus!! Good luck with the local riders and drivers..
I'm working on that Dan!! It's in the bucket list for a few years down the line...saving my pennies.
Cool setting for a review.
Isn’t it just! Lots more to come from Thailand in due course....
Hi. enjoying your videos as always. I wonder if you could tell me where in Thailand you are or have been and what areas are best for scenery and culture? Thanks Andy
Whole series on Thailand coming up early next year - stay tuned!
Hey TMF, are you planning an upgade to a 4K camera? That would improve the image quality quite a bit. Especially during walkarounds I'd like to see a sharper image.
This is my new camera! GoPro hero 8...
@@TheMissendenFlyer Oh that's odd. I was watching some TommyBarnezTV videos lately and the picture quality of his walkarounds is amazing! Your vids in comparison look 'foggy'. But other than that great review, I always enjoy your commentary. :)
Beautiful location! The new Tiger 900 should be introduced soon though. Hopefully it's new engine is based on the updated Street Triple engine.
Yes it breaks official cover next week and I shall be at the factory for the reveal - looking forward to seeing what they’ve done to an already great machine....may well post a video on that afterwards....
Beautiful place to ride!
Really interesting review. If you like the XR there’s no need to get the XC just for the beak. You can buy a colour coded one as an extra...and it really improves the bike’s appearance. Is a Thai bike same spec as UK?
As far as I know yes but I may be wrong....
At your size I’d go for the 1200 xe
1 - didn't notice, 2 - nope, 3 - 'cos I'm stupid probably...sorry
I’d like it even more if it had shaft drive Triumph. That’s about as big as I’d find comfortable with an adventure bike. Centre stand yes? Did you try the heated grips?
Funnily enough no I didn't!!
Well I'll take the BMW TFT over an old school colour LCD...but I tend to agree, I'm a steam gauges man at heart!
If you were to change your bmw gs, would you buy this bike Triumph Tiger 800 XCA? Or what would you buy in the Adventure bikes? Thank you for your help!
I'd either get a 1250GS or the new Tiger 900 when that comes out probably....
See a few of them down here in Australia. Nice bike and the triple engine is a peach.
And as someone who lives in the tropics, stopping at the lights is the worst.
Tell me about it!
Hah! I'll be riding my 2015 800 to Kanchanburi on the weekend...ride along!!
If only I was still there - got back to Blighty on Saturday in time to get to Motorcycle live on Sunday....
@@TheMissendenFlyer right-o--- well hoped you enjoyed your time in the land of smiles... looked like you were in the Krabi area or Phang Na...there are many excellent touring routes throughout the country -- next time let us know and we can advise if needed
Aloha TMF - are you riding with BigBikeTours?
Nope - not an organised tour this one...
Bike reviews in Thailand, can’t be bad, have you had any experience with the old Tiger 955i, thinking of getting one for the winter and to commute on, love to here your opinion if you have. Also where was the white van today!!?..👍
No sorry I haven’t ridden one...
Sounds so much better than the new 900.
Ex Kingstonian here (I believe you once live in Kingston), now living in Malaysia. Just south of Thailand.
Indeed I did - and I went to "uni" (not that it was one then) there....
@@TheMissendenFlyer I was at the Canbury Park campus when it was a polytechnic then. 1985-89. And lived nearby at Elm Road till 1996.
So you're in Thailand, have Triumph UK arranged a factory visit ? :-D
Sadly not...
My favorite bike!
If you can go for the newer bike - or better still get the new 850 Sport - the old 800s were good, the newer bikes brilliant imo….
Welcome to Thailand.
Tiger 800 XCa is going to be my next bike, test rode one last year and loved it...
Sadly my test ride was around the woburn area. Not quite as exotic.
Atb, Ben.
Good choice - great bike I thought...looking forward to seeing the Tiger 900 next week..
I’ve had the Tiger 800XRt for a couple of years and generally pleased with it. Just a little concerned about long term reliability...
And Thailand...I’m flying out for an organised motorcycle tour of the country on a Honda CB500X in 2 days time!
Lucky man - amazing weather this time of year! Enjoy....
5 foot 8 (as I think i said on the video ;0))
Hey TMF, I really sympathise with you getting too hot waiting at the junction in 30 degrees...(not!)it was the same here in West Sussex this morning...or was that 3 degrees ...!? Cheers, Steve
Yeah sorry about that Stephen - didn't mean to rub it in - November though eh??
is there really much difference between the 17 gen 2 and the 18 gen3? thank you!
Yes!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Thank you
This review will be great info for our Viper, he’s torn between the Tiger and the Tenere 700 👍🏻
But don't forget that there is a brand new tiger 900 model next year which will also make this one redundant...
I also torn between the 2 , Any advice?
My boss I am confusing between Yamaha 700 T tiger 800Which one your choice
Personally I prefer (and would have) the Tiger....
Yes I did a boat tour around the islands from Ao Nang - not sure which ones we did and never saw Ursula Undress....
@@TheMissendenFlyer You wouldn't want to now...
...fair point.....
Actually since I filmed that review last week I found out the bike actually came to me in Krabi all the way from Bangkok!
@@TheMissendenFlyer I see. Thank you. Take care and look all ways when you are riding....Sal : )
I saw a video of two guys on a scooter in Thailand and tiger popped out the woods, trying to get them. That scooter must have been peppy, because they out ran that tiger! That Tiger 800 looks great, but I am a Triumph fan.
Yes some very interesting wildlife in Thailand!

Definately the GS then if space is the key requirement and cost isn't an issue....
@@TheMissendenFlyer thanks for the response! cost is always an issue but i mean i would buy one of these 2 at the same price... i find a 2011 xc at 7.000 euros and a 2008 gs adventure at 7.000 euros... so between these 2 is the choice i have to make
They are lovely looking bikes... what a place to go play on them! :-)
Indeed it was!
Always thought it a shame that even after increasing the capacity from 675 to 800 that the 800 motor made less power than the Street Triple. Think there will be a Tiger 900 shortly although I don't think it made the NEC show. Thailand looks amazing, looking forward to the vids
