I’m a Dodgers fan but still have my concerns. Is Freeman still in his prime? He’s 35 now and will be 36 for 2024 post season. He played in 161 game in 2023, and Roberts tends to over use his players in regular season. Freeman was 1-12 I believe against the Dbacks in post season when the Dodgers got swept. The Dodgers have too many left handed hitters. This was a problem last year too and the issue is worse now. Shohei replaces JD Martinez but Right handed Teoscar replaces lefty Peralta but lefty Lux takes over for righty Rojas. 6 lefties in the projected line up and only 3 righties. This is why Top 3 not meaningful. Pitching is obviously key too.
I think they feel Torres had a peak year, whereas they might see a higher upside with the other two. They could've gone with Torres and everyone would be OK with it. Either way, the Yankees have a good lineup that hasn't lived up to its potential just yet. Imagine if all the players had a good year, they'd be a lot scarier and probably win the division

This whole Top 3 is meaningless in MLB. This isn’t the NBA. Top 5 is better and it needs to include Pitchers. May even need to go to Top 6 but even this isn’t meaningful as to who will win the World Series. It’s meaningful as to do who do well in the regular season but not a sure thing either.

Joel Sherman is such an enormous jerk. Bregman’s been a nice player at times, only one year has he looked like a #2 overall pick. Altuve is actively building a case for the Hall of Fame. Work for a real newspaper, Joel, then somebody might respect you.
@@JorgeFeliz-v4lthis is why Top 3 is not indicative as to who has the best line up. I would say the Braves look better on paper from 1-9 but it’s related to more power and left vs right balance. What happened in the post season is pretty much unforgivable. Even worse than the Dodgers. The Dodgers seem deeper and have more answers if somebody gets hurt or needs a day off. Shohei is a wildcard even for hitting. He’s willing to simply get on base to get a rally going. Some Braves players just swing for the fence. They never even had a Big 3 unless it was Muncy or JD Martinez with Betts and Freeman. Now the Dodgers have replaced JD with Ohtani and added Teoscar who is similar to JD. So the Dodgers still have a 4th or 5th best in Max Muncy. Forget about his avg. 36 home runs and 105 rbis. There is still Teoscar and Will Smith. Then there is Outman and Heyward and the Dodgers get back Lux. This issue though is too many left handed batters. The Dodgers have right handed bats but a bit unproven. Only debate is the order of 1 & 2. Ohtani is a 10 WAR without pitching? I doubt that. The only thing that takes Acuña, Olson, or Riley out of the lineup is injury. And that was just one of the best offenses in history. Maybe Harold was right with the order for their top 3 is right but Braves are better 1-9. Either way you're splitting hairs comparing them
@@SgtBlow Yeah I agree, the Braves were a historical offense from top to bottom of that lineup. 1 of 2 all-time teams to have three 40-homer players; the other team being the ‘97 Colorado Rockies. But man, 2024 is going to be fun with the top players & teams mentioned in this, if they all stay healthy!
And the Braves didn't have to do it by spending 130 million a year on just the 3 guys. Everyone is all giddy about the Dodgers and what they did (and I'm not insanee I know that's a big upgrade) but many people need reminding just how scary and historic the Braves offense was and is. The previous NL record was like 40 fewer and that was again set in 2019. This is the same offense that was the first and only team to ever slug .500 for a season in baseball history. Just for some perspective look up the the league leaders in slugging % as players this last year and take a gander at all of the big names that didn't slug .500 on their own then think about the fact that the Braves slugged that as a freaking team!
