    Hanging baskets already made at the store are super over priced and expensive! I love that this is natural and not plastic for hanging as well. I'm not looking forward to that duct tape part...we don't get along...lol... but I'm excited to try this! Thank you for sharing!

    • @FarmhouseBC

      Yes! Thank you! Also, the coco fibers can be composted down and the PVC tube, plant holders and chains can be reused over and over :) I am not fond of plastic either! Thanks for commenting and I bet yours will be great!

    hello! thanks for this video ive been looking everywhere. can you please do an update video to see how it looks now? also when do you think i should make the spear? like in the fall or early spring? also i live in chicago so once the late fall and winter is here should i bring it inside or leave it? im a newbie to gardening mostly bc we used to live in a apartment and we moved and now i have a front and back yard! im very excited! thanks for your help!

    • @FarmhouseBC
      @FarmhouseBC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will all depend what you have growing in the planter, not all plants can survive winter, especially in the colder states. I usually make my spheres in the spring when the Dollar Tree has the coco fiber and seeds out, I reuse the hanger and pipe every year. This year I did not do any hanging plants, I will in the spring. Herbs may do well inside during the winter. It's so exciting to hear the excitement from a new gardener, congrats on having more access to gardening. Thanks so much for watching. I have more gardening and dehydrating at the blog if you are interested? farmhouse-bc.com/homesteading-101/gardening/ Thanks for watching and commenting.

    I am just starting a little nursery (long time gardener catching her dreams this year!!) and this idea was just what I was looking for! I'd like to do several of these. Any suggestions on which vegetable, herb or flower combos I could try that you might think would do well together? I have some ideas but thought I'd pick your brain. Thanks for the video and blessings to you this morning!

    • @FarmhouseBC
      @FarmhouseBC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad it was helpful! Basically any combo will work. I like herbs since they bush out and hang down but flowers and herbs together are my favorite. Begonias, Sweet Alyssum, Pansy, Impatiens, Asparagus fern and more! Strawberries look nice with white flowers! Don't forget the drought resistant plants like hens and chicks, sedum and other succulents, they are great too, they will need full sun though. I could go on all day :) I hope this helped? Thanks for commenting, I love feedback and interactions. Have a great day! Be sure and visit my blog category, Gardening, farmhouse-bc.com/homesteading-101/gardening/ for more gardening tips and tricks :)

    GREAT project! Thank you! It is going to be BEAUTIFUL when it fills in, I'm sure! (Will you please show it again in a month or two?) Have you tried growing lettuce, herbs, or anything else besides flowers like this? Perhaps this is ONE hanging pot that our precious little yard birds will decide NOT to nest in!! 💝

    • @FarmhouseBC
      @FarmhouseBC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I will! Yes, I grow lettuce, strawberries, and even a tomato (upside down of course). The birds would have a hard time with this one. LOL I also buy the larger coconut fillers from Wally land or HD, and Lowes. They require a heavier basket to hold them since they get heavier as they get bigger. Duh, of course, they do! 😂

    How many plants did you use? Would all petunias work?

    • @FarmhouseBC
      @FarmhouseBC  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It would depend on your basket size and how close you want them. Yes, all petunias would be lovely, especially the Wave petunia.

    If I put more flowers in would it over crowd them? 🌺

    • @FarmhouseBC
      @FarmhouseBC  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would leave a few inches in between each plant, if you put them too close together it would over crowd them. I know it will look sparse when you first add them, but they will fill in nicely overtime. Kinda close but a little breathing room. 😆 thanks for the watch and comment!🌺💐🌸

  • @rick5653

    Can you say what those flowers are called please. I couldn’t really make out what you called them.

    • @FarmhouseBC
      @FarmhouseBC  ปีที่แล้ว

      My favorite cascading flowers are Scaevola, Euphoria, Bacopa, Calbrachoa, Lobelia, Alyssum, Verbena, Lobularia,
      trailing fuchsia, and Torenia. I wouldn’t add them all, pick 2-3 for each plant. Thanks for the watch.

      @@FarmhouseBC not my idea, i saw a video from a nursery and that’s how they do this. my dollar store doesn’t have these items, i’ve been wanting to do them.
      thanks for your video, never thought about making a globe, and the water tube, bravo for that idea. You were over clear with directions, i was a few paces past you because i craft, sew and build with wood…but for people who are new to these projects you provided an excellent clear step by step instruction, so i subscribed, i like supporting content creators such yourself….because when i don’t know how to do something and the fly through the how to i turn it off….👏🏻👏🏻

      Thank you! I know there has to be a happy medium with teaching and sharing. I figure best to be thorough then too fast and "assume" everyone knows how to do it. I homeschooled 2 children and being detailed is second nature for me. I get a lot of positive feedback on my primitive doll tutorials that they appreciate the patterns and teaching is so detailed. There is always the "watch in fast speed option"? 😂

  • @terrim.602

    I really love the concept, but a tutorial like this really needs a follow up of the grown out product in order to be believable.

    • @FarmhouseBC
      @FarmhouseBC  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I apologize for that, but life happens. Although I haven't gotten around to updating a new video on a finished outcome yet, you can still use the tutorial as a guide to try it out yourself. Providing this helpful video tutorial was my primary intention, so thank you for suggesting it. I completely understand your concerns.
