Peaceful Mountain Views-Eastern TN
Witness the breathtaking beauty of the mountains and outdoor gardens that have captured my heart in recent times. Serenity and calmness envelop these landscapes, creating an atmosphere of tranquility.
The presence of wildlife, both majestic and delicate, adds to the enchantment. During the warmer months, the melodious songs of whippoorwills fill the air in our backyard, while owls continue to serenade us throughout the year from their lofty perches amidst the trees. Welcome to Eastern Tennessee, where peaceful mountain views await you.

Grateful for everyday living on the mountaintop in our transformed log/farmhouse. We offer food from scratch, handmade DIY, old-timey skills, and simple living for 2!
We still love to do all the things we did when we had a larger family, only in smaller portions. We love to cook, bake (even on a wood stove), make DIY projects including sewing, weaving, and home renovations, and enjoy everyday living in our log/farmhouse on the mountain ridge!
We practice old-timey skills that we introduced to our children as they were growing up and homeschooled almost 3 decades ago. Some of these skills that we, as empty-nesters, are still using: soap making with lye, hand-dipping beeswax candles, dyeing textiles, rendering beef fat into tallow, canning, dehydrating, and preserving foods, hand-hewing logs, making homemade natural cleaners, bath soaps and more.

hi u sure make great craft stuff
Thank you! 😊
Mahalo. This is a great video
So nice of you
You are so cute! I tried dollar tree seeds this past year (before watching this video) and they were a bust. They didn't even come up as the plants they were suppose to be and hardly any sprouted. Johnnys (For the most part) for me from now on.
@@anneg8319 that a bummer. I still have marigolds and zinnias popping up abundantly from 3 years ago. Planted once and they keep coming back.
What a beautiful system! Sad to say my vegetable garden has not only been invaded by voles but also invasive worms. I need to decide whether to give up vegetable gardening or find an above ground system. Yours is awesome. New subscriber here.
Hi! Do you recommend using uv jars for fermenting? Thank you in advance
@@anneg8319 most definitely! If not wrap a flour sack towel around it. It’s a good investment in my opinion. Thanks for the watch and comment.
Hello! I just made these tins. I can’t tell you how happy I am with them! ☺️ Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skills. Scarecrows next!! And dolls …, 😊 Best wishes from England ! Maria
Wonderful! You REALLY made my day, I needed this! Thank you so much! ox from the TN mountains!
Great, I want to build a block cabin then apply natural rock over the block...
That is what we did in our Primitive Room off of our reclaimed wood log cabin. We haven't decided on the outside to match the wood logs or continue with the river rocks we placed on the blocks like on the inside. Let me know how it turns out and best of luck, it's a beautiful process!
I just found your channel and love the wool projects you make :)

These look great! I’m trying to use my bread machine more. Thanks!
@@sherrieblake8674 thanks so much! I’m sure they’ll be great. They freeze well and make great tortilla chips too.
Can you use it on polyester
@@venussv67 the all purpose Rit Dye I use will not work on polyester but Rit has a dye for polyester it’s called Rit Dyemore for Synthetic Fibers. I’m not sure how it works, I prefer natural fibers but glad they offer an option. Thanks for a good question and comment.
Forgot to blanch my first tray of sliced potatoes. So ugly, lol. Won't forget again
Not gonna lie, it has happened to me too 😂. I still have jars of them in my pantry and just as crisp and white as the day they were dried. I love have long they last! Thanks for the comment and watch!
I love this!!! Thank you for sharing!! Would love to see how that particular basket looked after a month or so!! Cant wait to start mine. Thank you also for showing step-by-step in such a manner that one can see and learn. Very much appreciated! ❤❤Vanessa. South Africa
I know, I should have updated pics of this completed but at the time, I just wanted to get the video up so others can start to make one. I especially love the herb one. Thank you for the kind words, it made my day!
What a healthy version compared to the toxic seed oil version from the store. Love this... going to make some now for tomorrow's coffee.
I agree, I am learning each day more and more about the toxicity in our foods, even "organic" is not always organic, so hard to live healthy! Thanks for taking the time to comment and enjoy your cup of Joe :)
How long will these last in the refrigerator?
@@frfsolrac77 a few months at least but you’ll know if they start going bad by smell and looking at them. I’ve had them go many months and used them up before they ever went bad.
Can't wait to try, Thank You

What is the reason for brown jars ??
@@meerashah9006 it keeps the light filtered out. If you don’t have UV (ultraviolet) brown jars you can always cover them with a towel or put in a cool cabinet.
Thank you so much for the advice. It's not in direct sunlight, but I will still cover w a towel.
Thank you for your demonstration. Where do you leave the jar during the fermenting process? Is it better warm or cold? Can it ferment in the refrigerator ? For your interest, not having your wooden tool, I searched for something that would work like it. I used a full and sealed beer bottle. It has weight and strength and did a great job of pounding the cabbage and carrots.
You're so welcome! I leave mine on the counter, in the summer cooler is better, not on a hot porch. Great use of finding your own tool to use! It needs to ferment a little time on the counter, you can cut back on the time but I would recommend at least a few days on the counter, away from direct light and heat then pop in fridge.
Thank you Jersey for your reply with the answer to my question. I love your online presence and offerings ! 👏 bravo
@@tsividia 🥰 if you can buy 1 or 2 amber jars, (UV-ultraviolet) they are the best, they don’t allow light in which is best for fermentation otherwise I’d suggest covering with a towel.
Nice video! Informative and to the point!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks so much for taking time to comment, much appreciated:)
What type of material is best to make the actual doll or pumpkin ? Cheese cloth or linens?
I like natural fabric, cotton and linen, not sure cheesecloth would work, the stuffing would fall through the holes. You can recycle old aprons, white denim, pillow cases, etc. Check out my craft playlist for free patterns and how to make dolls. th-cam.com/play/PL8EOriYWf06nFsq8bHyfX94lR2ybiP5KY.html
Very interesting project. You put lots of great information into this.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much, I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and most of all comment :)
That looks DELICIOUS ❤ I'm definitely trying this. Thank you for sharing
Hope you enjoy! Thanks for the watch and taking the time to comment :)
Could I add orange zest instead of lemon juice? Or is there a specific reason for the lemon juice? Just asking. I'm new to canning jams.
@@denisehaley9271 not sure about adding zest. Some additives cause a density issue. Lemon juice is usually required for acidity, the presence of a concentrated amount of acid (lemon juice) is what inhibits botulism spores from germinating in canned goods. Get the newest Ball canning book, even Wal-Mart has it, it’s a great resource. Thanks for the watch and comment. Happy canning!
@@FarmhouseBC Thank you so much ❤

So cute!
Thanks so much! I can't wait for fall!
1/4 thread is M6 or M8
Thanks for sharing the recipe! The reason they say to add the liquids first is because of the mechanical way these machines knead the dough, there's a high possibility that unmixed flour sticks to the wall and never gets mixed in. The liquids keep the dry ingredients from sticking as a barrier.
Great point! Thanks for the watch and the comment :)
Hello Farmhouse BC! I live in Ontario and this morning I found you!!!!! I am so excited to watch what you make by doing Primitive items and you offer free patterns. @@FarmhouseBC Thank you ever so much! I guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow...charity shopping 😊 I'm just putting the finishing touches to your free doll pattern tonight so looking for a new project. I think you might have brought a new sewer into the world Lol 😁
@@nicolamoore9174 you made my day!❤️ I love recycling! We have a great thrift store down the road, I get jeans extra extra large for .75 cents and weave them into rugs and placemats.
