After all these years, GLaDOS's resurrection scene still gives me chills. Being thrown back into a room with her suddenly, her slowly putting herself back together, the very calm way she speaks with the anger just barely underneath it all, all while the music builds. There's nowhere to hide, you just have to wait for her to collect herself then decide what to do with you
GLaDOS is one of the most unique villains I have ever seen
Most definitely. Just that fact that she has no points of humanity in her voice, but still can show human emotions gives me chills
and then when she sees wheatly and discards him with very clear anger and annoyance at his very existence

I love that the Aperture facility prioritizes the last of its emergency power to running tests instead of shutting down the reactor and preventing the entire facility from exploding.
I mean if someone is trained in tests, they’re good escaping an exploding building!

Fun Fact! The area you go through when you get the dual portal gun is actually the last test chamber from the first game! You start at the fire pit where you escaped in Portal 1 and work your way to the start! Right before the elevator, you can see the test chamber 19 screen!

Theory that confirms it is different to the other turrets: it doesn't aim at you when you enter its line of sight, unlike the other turrets. Turrets in portal start aiming at you as soon as they can see you, regardless of whether there's glass in the way or not. They just don't start shooting until there's nothing blocking the way.

You actually get a chance to save it from burning in a furnace later in the game! In exchange if you hold on to it, it'll reveal a bit of lore to you.
There is a way later, you can save it if you pay attention when it pops up again.

Back to watch this again years after the release. Didn’t even realize that you can see Cave Johnson everywhere in the environment. It plays smooth jazz to calm you down; just imagine a conversation where Cave solves the problem of test subjects panicking in the test chamber.

The murals that you see in the beginning of the game when you pick up the blue portal gun represent the history of aperture and portal 1. The first mural has scientists basking in the "radiance" of GLaDOS for it is their creation, then they get flooded by neurotoxin and you see them dying (except of course the one who made the murals), then you see a mural of you confronting GLaDOS despite her trying to offer you pleasantries to keep you in check.

I've had a really tough day. One of those days when shit's constantly triggering you and the small inconveniences keep building up until you just curl into a vibrating ball of anger and try hard not to explode in front of everybody.
So seeing 45 minutes of Jack playing one of my all-time top 10 games, that is _exactly_ how I need my day to end right now. Thank you for this. I know you always say that you're not really doing anything except yell at games, but just the fact that your videos and your personality are all out there is an anchor that keeps me and a whole bunch of other people grounded, and that's a wonderful value.

Sydney Stafferton wait... but wasn’t there an explanation explaining why it’s not somewhere? I looked it up a while back and the portal 2 GLaDOS is an entirely different design than the one from the first game. Supposedly the portal 2 version was supposed to be a backup body that folded up into one of the rings above the portal one version, but it was never able to fit so they just kinda hung it it a back room or something and left it there, which is where you find it in the second game.

@@ditt0422 It's the same room, and the same body. Valve didn't plan ahead and wanted a more expressive design for the second game. Canonically, it's the same body but it's a different model in game because Valve hadn't planned ahead that much when creating Portal 1. Theories like that do exist but ultimately it's just trying to make up for Valve's inconsistent design
