Thanks, the cut is so clean because I used the pre-ionization zone of the laser. There is a lot of smoke generated, but I had to keep the lid partially open in order to record the video. Normally, the smoke will be whisked away by the air flow across the work piece.

I have a generic 50W Chinese laser with a 300 x 500mm bed. It's actually the same system as used in the Tangerine Tiger video series by Russ Sadler on Sarbar Multimedia. It can also be found at laseruser.com/rf-laser-source-upgrade-tangerine-tiger-menu/
I assume you are referring to the pin board? I made it myself using 6mm thick acrylic and cabinet dowel pins (with a central lip). It's not too bad to use but the acrylic is starting to warp a little. If I was doing it again, I would use straight pins so that the pin will be in contact with my steel bed and won't be affected by warping of the base.

That's got to be the cleanest cut without edge burring that I've ever seen from a laser cutter. I would imagine that the smoke could be a problem!

What laser source is in the X1? Is it a blue diode? If so, I don't think you will be able to cut Mylar.
